I bought this roof bag the night we were going out of town. We drove 18 hours and experienced heavy rain. The bag stayed in place with the straps provided even though the straps feel a little stiff, they were still strong and flexible. Everything was dry upon arrival. On our drive back everything inside was damp from heavy rain but I think the flap that covers the zipper was flipped up. It should be ok as long as you don ’ t overstuff the bag and you ’ re careful about covering the zipper all the way around, you ’ ll be fine. If you have an option to get 20+cu, get the larger one. Everyone said these were huge and while our stuff fit, I could ’ ve used a roomier bag to eliminate extra inside cargo. This is for a one week trip for two adults and four children.

My wife and I each have the Cargon 40L and we each brought ours on our honeymoon to Ireland, Italy, and Greece. The bags held up incredibly well during the 2 weeks traveling across Europe and they were very comfortable to carry in both the backpack and carry handle configuration. I am very happy with my purchase of the Malone J- dock Kayak& Gear storage rack. Installation was easy. I did use a bigger drill bit than instructed to drill the pilot holes for the screws, and used socket rather than a wrench to make it easier on myself. The whole installation was about 20 minutes. Once installed, placing my kayaks in the cradles took about 10 minutes. The straps to hang the second kayak did not ratchet as easily as I would have liked, and I suggest using your own straps, having help to take weight off the straps while you ratchet them up, or using something under the kayak to hold it up while you tighten the straps. Either way, once they kayak is up and the straps tightened the kayaks are secure and the system is great! I also liked having the ability to store my paddles on the rack.

I have one of these. It is massive. It is solid as well. I think I 've accidentally bumped the top of against a ceiling at least 4 or 5 times and not a scratch on it, no dents or cracks either. I have been able to fit an absolute ton of stuff in it. Aerodynamic? Sort of. It will reduce your MPGs by at least 4- 5mpg on the highway. But you are getting a super huge place to store items. Rugged, built well. If you do n't abuse it, it will last.

excellent fit for my drysuit and goggles and small accessories, not big enough to fit suit and fins but not what I bought it for. It has held up very well for work purposes as an everyday bag that I throw in and out of my vehicle. Zippers appear to be holding up well and I use the handles more than the straps so I enjoy the option.

Excellent piece of equipment. I used it for transporting via checked baggage( 50 lbs), throwing in a truck, then carrying up a couple of miles to the campsite. The straps are great and stow away for checking. It's tough, water- resistant, roomy, and comfortable to carry. Highly recommend.

We just returned from a trip that required the use of this bag. It was used on top of a Toyota RAV4 with a rack on the roof. The bag is quite durable, easy to put up and take down and best of all, I can attest to it being quite water resistant. I 'm an archaeologist and just got back from a month in the field in rural southern Ethiopia. We bought the Thule Force XT XL in anticipation of taking our kids and several of their friends on a ski trip, realizing that we 'd need all the space we could get in order to transport several pairs of skis, gear, etc. This cargo box held way more than we realized it would! [ I like the lightness of these. I like the compressibility. The scouts tend to have internal frame packs and need to squeeze things tight, this does the job. I still use an external frame pack, the packs straps go under the compressing stings to keep the bag from sliding sideways off of my pack without having to overtighten the pack straps. These bags have become my favorite.

A perfect complement to my Burley Coho XC trailer. It ’s a nice fit into the trailer with a little bit of room on the edges. If you want to talk, some other goodies in the rolltop works well, but the clips on the side may not be in the best position. Otherwise, a great light weight bag to keep my gear dry on weekend trips to the Cape and Islands in northern Vermont. Nice being able to get on a ferry with a trailer and not need a car reservation and be able to carry everything you need rain or shine.
