[ This is only my second harness but definitely my favorite, the two gear loops on either side are usual but where this harness shines is in the 5th gear loop directly in the back, I tend to use it for my anchor building stuff, my quad, some locking draws, whatever it might be and also my rappel gear( atc and prusik). This thing is ridiculous for trad, pieces on the front two gear loops and draws on the side two gear loops and my jumar stuff. [ I have been climbing for 30 years in total and in various iterations of this harness for a long time now. It ticks all of the boxes in terms of function, fit, and durability, and especially price. One of the things that I like most about it are the gear loops. A lot of brands put their loops too low on the harness in my opinion, which causes gear to hang down around your lower leg. I prefer things to sit higher so that everything is tighter to my body when I move. The harness trad climbs and sport climbs equally well. The only downside to it is the weight being a little on the heavy side. I prefer a 32 inch waist in pants and wear a size medium in this harness, which puts me at the bottom end of the fit and allows me to cinch the waist within a cm of all the way down. This puts the gear loops more towards the front. When you look at the size range for a harness, always make sure to consider that the measurement will be smaller than your waist size because you wear it above your hips.

[ I 've had a couple of Petzl SAMA harnesses that each lasted for years. The indoor/gym harness in particular stayed so fresh that people asked if it was a new harness for a couple years after purchase. But it was really the fit( with just a little padding), foolproof elastic leg loops, and bomber durability that brought me back for the 3rd time. This rope is light and durable. I mainly use mine for taller routes and multi pitch as mine is an 80m and I like the diameter of the rope as well at a 9. 4. It's not the lightest rope but I sill love it and do n't mind hauling it. I 'd recommend to beginners, intermediate and experts alike. It will get the job done and well. Just keep it flaked properly to avoid twisting.

It does n't dig in anywhere( where previous harnesses have left bruises), the padding on the legs makes it extremely comfortable to sit in, and I do n't ever find that I have to mess with adjusting it once it's on. I did make sure to measure myself and purchase according to the size chart, as the legs are not adjustable. Make sure to do that homework to get a good fit for yourself. Love the colors, the materials, and the carrying case it comes with. All around it's been a win for me!

I ordered this as my first personal harness as I was provided one for a job I had. The harness is very comfortable and the multiple adjustment points make for a great fit. ATC does ATC things, chalk bag is nice but the strap on it is super thin if you care about that. Great beginner kit for anyone starting out. It did n't apply for a shipping deal Mammut had with the rest of my gear and ended up costing as much as it says it was listed for before the deal. So look out for that if you 're buying it with a lot of other things. Overall great no problems with product.

I repeatedly hiked out of ice crags and alpine environments not realizing I ’ m wearing my helmet until I knocked it on the roof of my car while getting in. I 've used this solely for outdoor rock climbing so far. It's been amazing. The helmet is extremely breathable. I 've purchased many helmets for climbing/scrambling, and this is by far my favorite. It is lightweight enough that I barely notice it on my head or attached to my pack, it's extremely comfortable, and it fits over a hat if I want to wear one. I also like the low- fuss adjustments of the soft nylon straps in the back, which other helmets that I 've tried often make out of hard plastic, which can be uncomfortable. It fits snug, and though I( thankfully) have n't had to test its performance in a fall/during rockfall, I have no doubt it will do its job. I was a little worried about the durability of the exposed foam, but after carrying it through a heavy hailstorm and generally banging it around in the back of the car or on whatever summit I take it off on, I ca n't spot a single dent.

Overall, I really like this helmet. First of all, I only considered MIPS helmets due to previous personal injuries. In the climbing industry, so far, there's only a few of them as I write this: this one, Smith, and two Black Diamond ones. The Black Diamond Capitan was too heavy for me, and the other Black Diamond was a contender, but in the end, the sizing was off, and even the largest size did n't fit my head well. This Wall Rider MIPS helmet is lightweight, comfortable, and so far, it has been durable. I 've used it on 10+ trips over the course of a year, and it has n't shown wear- and- tear, although the white top has gotten scratches( cosmetic) and is no longer pure white. The only downsides I would say are that the chin strap took me a while to dial down the sizing to where I wanted it( the strap barely covers my ears) and that the helmet sometimes covers part of my eyes if I look down too much, not staying in place. That is annoying when I 'm climbing, and sometimes I have to readjust the helmet by pushing it backwards so that it does n't cover part of my top eyesight.

I wore the cheapest BD helmet for years before finally choosing to upgrade. I have pretty slick hair, so I needed a helmet to stay in place. The strap system in this helmet does just that. [ I got this carabiner for both caving and climbing belay. For caving I like it on my bobbin because it prevent crossloading when you are doing change overs and rebelays. For climbing it has been great to keep things properly orientated. Love the color too!!

[ The purpose of this biner is to avoid cross- loading while belaying. Pros:- Easy to install on belay loop.- Does n't require opening the gate to open the belay- loop lock( like the BD one does).- Has a thick spine and large locking barrel to prevent a gri- gri from sliding in either direction.- The locking barrel is damped, and so does n't move if rattled while not locked all the way.- The locking barrel has a lot of extra travel- even if it started to come open, it would have to twist many times before allowing the gate to open.- Belay- loop lock spring tension is nice and high.- Quite light for the functionality! Cons:- The belay- loop gate makes racking a gri- gri on your harness slightly more awkward.( The grigri ends up sitting at the large end, and the wire gate sits on your gear loop).- The wide spine( a feature noted above) reduces the versatility of the biner, since it does n't fit into small holes( bolts, etc) as easily. But that's alright, since it's meant just for belaying anyway.

Have used other light weight harnesses especially BD. While they have served great and fine but needed more security for glacial peaks& mountains like Denali and Rainier. The solid loops to hang carabiners gives that peace of mind. Bottomline- lightest and strongest in the market. Petzel Altitude comes right close but I like Mammut colors as they are visible in whiteout or glacial peaks like Denali, Rainier, 8000m,.

I bought this originally for rescue in my job as a ski patroller and have found myself bringing it on every ski touring trip where I may need a harness instead of my BD Couloir. While the Mammut does not pack down as small it is more robust and comfortable. The small bit of extra size and weight is negligible in my opinion.

This is a great ultralight harness& super versatile and comfortable( for what it is). Excellent functionality and some of the best racking on this type of harness. Super light and compact too. I prefer this to the Petzl Fly. That said- the sizing is off. I 'm a 32 '' waist and based on Mammut's sizing chart I should be a comfortable medium. In reality I barley squeeze into the medium's hip belt. I have thick legs and the legs are fine though. Overall, I 'd highly recommend this harness, with the caviot that folks should try it on in- store. Hopeful that Mammut can address the sizing issue, but likely plan to size up on this harness. Would be 5 stars, but for the sizing issue.

[ I have had this for a couple months. Wearing it is comfortable, and the gear loops work well. I really like having two belay loops too. It is uncomfortable to hang in for long periods of time, and because part of the waist band is not stitched to the tightening strap, it can be a little annoying to get on just right. For trad climbing or multipitching without hanging belays, it's great. It just wo n't replace a sport climbing harness.

[ I really like my Metolius Harness and that basically everything on this harness is a hard point. The waist buckle is an update from their old double back buckles( they are still on the leg loops which make adjustment a little tenuous) which is bomber. Contrary to many waist buckles, this one latches down on the nylon strap when it is tightened inhibiting any accidental openings of the waist strap. I think this is an improvement in speed of putting on the harness over the old double back buckles that you had to feed through each for adjustment. The foam padding is concentrated which could make long hanging belays a little uncomfortable.

[ I bought this( and a black one, L/R) for TRT/Search and Rescue. I got tired of using( fighting?) Purcell's for ascending a line. These are lightweight and I really do n't notice them on my already- overloaded rack. The mechanicals are solid and smooth, and they grab 10- 11mm rope just fine, slide up with ease, and do n't seem to cause undue wear. The size of the lower mounting hole gives me plenty of options for attaching foot loops, 2nd points of attachment to my harness, etc.

I have ran through my previous orphir 3 slide and it is a fantastic overall beginner/intermediate harness. Overall use it for gym and outdoor climbing. I am more into comfort padded climbing harnesses vs lightweight and non adjustable climbing harnesses. The adjustable leg straps and hip are great and can fit me and friends if they borrow the harness. I like the wear stitching being bright red and easy to locate/see is fantastic. I also love the semi hard gear loops they can fit all my quick drawers and climbing gear when outside. Overall would definitely recommend this harness to anyone looking for a comfy great harness.

I 've been using the ophir 3 for 5 years and have had zero complaints about it. although I do n't get to climb as often as I used to, it still is very comfortable and sturdy and I have no concerns going on a climb. I have no doubt that this harness will serve me for several more years, and when I finally do have to lay it to rest, I would buy another mammut harness. 5/5 stars. Definitely recommend.

So I finally was able to use the harness due to the gym being closed, but the waist portion is a great material and doesn ’ t feel uncomfortable. The attachment loop for the d ring in the front is solid and I feel safe when climbing. The only complaint I have is the leg straps hurt when being belayed. I would recommend this to anyone getting into rock climbing. It ’s an overall well viewed brand and great product.

I did not get this harness specifically just for comfort as I wanted a harness that would feel like I wasn ’ t wearing anything. So far after having if for over a month I am extremely happy with how it has performed. The material is comfortable and breathable, the gear loops are strong and can fit a lot of gear, and while climbing it barely feels like I have anything on. I did notice a bit of inner thigh rubbing while belaying and tugging from the rope, but it is not quite bad enough to make it worth looking at something else. I believe the slight sacrifice in comfort was well worth it for weight savings.

I was looking for a thicker rope to bring caving as we found a pretty large pit. This is very tough yet surprisingly supple and provides great friction. I felt plenty safe rapping on it, and the thickness also made cheating back up a pleasant experience.

[ I wanted my new harness to have a waist and leg loops that could be opened completely so I can put it on when wearing crampons, skis, or do n't feel like standing on one foot while putting it on. I was pleased that the gear lops and the ice clippers I added are lined up evenly on both sides when the waist is adjusted.( I have a 32 inch waist and got the large harness because the leg loop size matched my leg measurements.) It's light and does n't take up much space in my pack.

I love that this harness has indication of when it is too worn to continue use. While this is not a guarantee it is so nice to have piece of mind that you have a indicator just in case. I love the 4 way adjusting and the gear loops are great as well. Great for a intermediate climber and works great in canyons as well. look at the sizing I wish I had gone a size smaller. Overall amazing product love mammut!

This harness has a really wide range of adjustability. I 'm a size 32 waist and ordered the M- XL. My waist is on the smaller side of the recommended range for this size, but it still feels very secure. The leg loops have a wide range of adjustability too. This adjustability really comes in handy when you want to add an extra layer of clothing for cold weather. It's a solid all around harness- I mainly use it for sport climbing and it works great. It's very breathable and comfortable as well.
