My wife and I love to be on the water together and the Oru Haven has made it easy. I am a big guy@ 6 ’ 8 ” and 250 lbs. The listed height max for the Haven is 6 ’ 6 ”. I can tell you that I have no problem entering/exiting/paddling. The Haven tracks well in flat conditions and does surprising well when the wind is up. I sit in the aft seat and my 5 ’ 8 ” and 125lbs. wife sits forward. My size 16 feet rest just aft of the forward seat but are forward of the spreader bar at mid- ship.. I don ’ t need to bend my knees at all. The kayak is waterproof in flat water. Because the Haven has such a large open cockpit, we get water into the boat from paddle drip, rain and waves coming on the beam. We are working on a simple ‘ rain fly ’ idea( we are OCD about a wet boat). But, even the water that comes in from drips and rain isn ’ t an issue. The water stays under the orange floor boards so it doesn ’ t create any wet- butt issues while we are paddling. Folding and unfolding the hull is easy. The Oru video is helpful. But, they edited out the most critical element of how the boat goes together in the final fold. Fortunately, it only took us a few extra minutes to figure it out in our living room and now it is easy. Storage inside the hull is adequate. I appreciate how easy it is to carry a 40 lbs. tandem kayak over my shoulder in box mode In summary: we don ’ t think there is a more elegant way to minimize space needs and maximize on- the- water fun. I purchased the Haven( Tandem) and took it out on the water last weekend. The assembly confounded at first until I followed the YouTube assembly video section by section. The second time I put it together took about 10 minutes and was relatively easy( just needed good muscle). The boat is sturdy in the water, it held two adults easily, and we found it easy to steer and navigate. I like that it can convert to a single too. Fits in the trunk of my Camry easily. Only thing I 'd like to add to my Oru is a small hand cart to wheel it from the car to the dock. While it folds up nicely, at age 57 and small framed, it's still quite heavy for me to carry on a shoulder by myself. Otherwise, I have no complaints! Love it and love that I can take it all over the place to rivers and lakes.

Bow to stern includes as the upgrades that users have been asking for, from bigger hatch, predrilled wiring ports and power pole mounts on both sides of the stern. There were a couple of niggling details that could use improvement: easing the ends of the “ utility rails ” so they aren ’ t square and sharp, and having some way to secure the flopping closure buckles when paddling. Purchased this for our son for Christmas. Took him out on the lake and he absolutely loved it. When we got home I noticed that there was water in the shaft of the paddle. It seems that the water was coming in from around the blade. Contacted Lifetime via email and explained to them what was going on. Received a very quick response from their customer service. Once they had all the information they needed they sent out a new paddle immediately. It's great to know that there are still some companies out there with Great Customer Service. My son is 12 and says that it's easy to paddle and seems very stable. We had some inflatable kayaks and he hated them. I 'd say that they are definitely worth the money.

I was skeptical on how this boat would do when compared with rigid kayaks in the water, but took the risk anyway because I love how small it could pack and lightweight it is( less than half of my other sea kayaks)... and OH BOY was I wrong. The Coast glides through the water effortlessly, gets up to speed in only a couple strokes, and is incredibly durable – I did n't notice any change in the hull after a full afternoon of charging through big ocean waves, practicing rescues, and grinding against rocks. Got my kayak about 2 months ago. So far I have used it to go fishing twice in the Eastern Sierra( Mammoth Lakes). Setup only takes a few minutes and launching from the shore is easy. There ’s plenty of room for my tackle box, rod/reel, backpack, net, basket, etc. Accessories I ’ d recommend are: rail clip to hold the oar( discovered on Etsy), the padded seat cushion and backrest( Oru), a 5lb mushroom anchor( Amazon), and an oar tether( Oru). The kayak is plenty stable and fully rigid( even in unexpected choppy conditions). I got the combo with the oar, backpack, footrest, and fin. The footrest can be stowed to make more legroom once you ’ re anchored. With the cost of rental at the lake, this kayak has now paid for itself. Being able to get on the lake as early as I like is a huge advantage for securing my favorite spots.

I ’ ve had this kayak for a month and it ’s my favorite kayak I ’ ve owned! It ’s extremely versatile, from fishing small skinny rivers to large open bodies of water. The cockpit is very spacious and the drainage is well thought out. It ’s built like a tank just like all the Old Town ’s I ’ ve owned. It ’s bone dry inside the hull after every trip. Sit or stand, it ’s very stable and tracks well, especially with the upgraded rudder kit. I ’ d highly recommend the foot steering to go with this kayak. It equals more casts on the water and( hopefully) catching more fish! Very exciting update to the Sportsman lineup. Always been a big fan of Old Town's paddle kayaks because they offer stability with performance and rigability. This one takes that a step further as you 're able to rig the kayak in WHATEVER way you see fit. It's awesome to be able to mount the Stern motor and also have a quick on- and- off option for a bow- mounted motor like the Minn Kota when you want. After spending a couple of months in mine, I love how comfortable it is and how much space it has in the hatch. Definitely has made the longer days on the water much more manageable.

I was able to try this kayak for a day, and this is what I found. Three things stood out to me right away. Large open cockpit, tons of metal track front and back as well as bow and stern ready mounting locations for motors. The kayak I used was rigged out with a Minn Kota Kayak Terrova Bow- Mount Electric Trolling Motor with GPS – 55 Lb. Thrust, the optional and IMO definitely recommended rudder system and a Mega Live 2 with a 9 '' explore unit. First stepping into this kayak, I felt good stability with no problems standing to cast or setting the hook. There was room for gear in the back, under the comfortable seat and of course plenty of room in the cock pit. This kayak moved well with the Terrova and had great maneuverability especially in combination with the rudder. I feel this kayak is a great option as an introductory kayak to just paddle but can grow with you should you desire to rig it out with a motor or any other electronics. It really gives you a lot of options with an easy to rig and sturdy platform.

I ’ ve spent a lot of time in different fishing kayaks, and the Sportsman 120 Pro is one of the most well- rounded platforms I ’ ve used. What stands out to me is how much usable space you get without the kayak feeling oversized or difficult to manage. The kayak lacked instructions which had us guessing about some black parts used to stiffen the water diverters on front and back. Some pictures of the unfolding and setup would really help. The kayak was stable and easy to launch. Be sure to use the slag to help keep the kayak moving in a straight line. Without the slag it tends to turn.
