My partner and I recently bought two kayaks from Dick ’s and needed to transport them over 100 miles through several mountain passes on a windy day. On a whim, we bought this kit and we are so glad we did. In the parking lot of the Dick ’s, we were able to install the kit on the crossbars of her Subaru Outback within 30 minutes and did not need a single tool for assembly! The instructions that came with the kit were clear and taught us how to safely secure our kayaks to the car. After tightening the straps, the kayaks didn ’ t budge for the entire trek home. They 're easy for the kids to maneuver and if they fall off or tip over, the kids can get back up using the hand holds on the back. The paddles float in case the kids drop them in the water. The kayaks are light enough that my 50 lb. kid can pull it through the yard and out to the channel on his own. Great investment.

We got this for my 8- year old son and the first time out he was able to easily handle it, including using as a SUP. When he fell off, the design on the back allowed him to quickly pull himself back on with no problem. It's just light enough that he can even drag it to the water on his own if he wants. My wife and I love to be on the water together and the Oru Haven has made it easy. I am a big guy@ 6 ’ 8 ” and 250 lbs. The listed height max for the Haven is 6 ’ 6 ”. I can tell you that I have no problem entering/exiting/paddling. The Haven tracks well in flat conditions and does surprising well when the wind is up. I sit in the aft seat and my 5 ’ 8 ” and 125lbs. wife sits forward. My size 16 feet rest just aft of the forward seat but are forward of the spreader bar at mid- ship.. I don ’ t need to bend my knees at all. The kayak is waterproof in flat water. Because the Haven has such a large open cockpit, we get water into the boat from paddle drip, rain and waves coming on the beam. We are working on a simple ‘ rain fly ’ idea( we are OCD about a wet boat). But, even the water that comes in from drips and rain isn ’ t an issue. The water stays under the orange floor boards so it doesn ’ t create any wet- butt issues while we are paddling. Folding and unfolding the hull is easy. The Oru video is helpful. But, they edited out the most critical element of how the boat goes together in the final fold. Fortunately, it only took us a few extra minutes to figure it out in our living room and now it is easy. Storage inside the hull is adequate. I appreciate how easy it is to carry a 40 lbs. tandem kayak over my shoulder in box mode In summary: we don ’ t think there is a more elegant way to minimize space needs and maximize on- the- water fun. I purchased the Haven( Tandem) and took it out on the water last weekend. The assembly confounded at first until I followed the YouTube assembly video section by section. The second time I put it together took about 10 minutes and was relatively easy( just needed good muscle). The boat is sturdy in the water, it held two adults easily, and we found it easy to steer and navigate. I like that it can convert to a single too. Fits in the trunk of my Camry easily. Only thing I 'd like to add to my Oru is a small hand cart to wheel it from the car to the dock. While it folds up nicely, at age 57 and small framed, it's still quite heavy for me to carry on a shoulder by myself. Otherwise, I have no complaints! Love it and love that I can take it all over the place to rivers and lakes.

My setup is the Thule Rapid Gutter Foot Pack, Thule WingBar Evo 150 and Thule Compass carrier. I found the installation instructions reasonably easy to follow- and I had the first installation done in less than an hour. The racks will be quick to remove and replace when the time comes. I really liked the included allen wrench that ‘ clicks ’ when the bolt is tight enough. Finished product looks good and is strong!

[ Got these to replace my stock crossbars. Got them for the main reason is that they have the ability to install Thule ’s one key lock system. I don ’ t have any ability to lock down anything on the factory cross bars and the can be easily taken off by popping the trim piece off and sliding them out of the side rails. With these load bars, the foot system, and the one key lock system, it is definitely a better theft deterrent than what I previously had. I ’ m sure it ’s not theft proof, but it ’s better than the factory load bars I had.

[ I installed these load bars about a month ago. I added the cargo basket on top. Getting the bars installed was easy and getting the basket installed was easy. Based on the instruction manual for the basket( which includes installation info for other bar types, as well), it was much easier to install on these particular bars than on other bars. It also took fewer tools to get the basket installed onto these bars. I 've now driven across 4 states and have had no issues with them- a very good purchase!

I have no issues with the product itself. It's great and works as expected. However, when it came to installation, the instructions that come with the product compared to that online are different from each other. The assembly of the product to the fit kit itself was fine. It was the assembly of the foot pack to my car that was slightly confusing. I would recommend downloading the instructions from their website as it seems to be more current and clear compared to those that come in the box. As for the `` ergonomic torque limiter key, '' the instructions say it's supposed to click twice to inform me that my rack was tightened completely. I did not experience any clicking and did n't want to strip the tool or the head of the bolt, so I tightened the foot pack to where I felt the rack was securely installed without damaging the product or my car.

Last year I bought kayak racks from Amazon. Despite having the top ratings and reviews, they did n't even last the trip from NY to Maine. The plastic nuts shredded just from hand tightening. This year I ordered a set of Malone Auto Racks and they were great. The threads in the nuts are reinforced metal and held up to tightening. They did n't loosen at all on the 7 hour drive. The instruction manual also contained useful information on using the straps and tying knots properly. I would definitely recommend these racks!

[ I bought these for my '17 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to carry my Thule roof- top storage rack and kayak. They were SUPER easy to assemble and install and were definitely the `` best- bang- for- the- buck '' and can carry more weight than most rain gutter bars. I think Thule products are the best... great quality. They do whistle at 50+ mph- but thats just the nature of the best.
