I received this bar today and had it assembled in 15 minutes. I attached my J- bars and mounted everything on my Ford Escape within minutes. The suction cups work great and the strap is easy to tighten and holds solid. This bar is very adjustable for any vehicle without a factory luggage rack! I love it!

I bought this to take my 62lb Kayak from NC to Michigan to visit family. Easy to set up on my Escape's roof w/o rails. Used 2 racket ties and 2 bungee ties on front and back of kayak. No issues traveling over 1000 miles each way. Some noise once I got up to 70mph but that was it

these racks are built as well as the$ 400 systems. I bought the air flow2 58 ” for my Subaru forester. They fit well and easy to install but they were too wide for my liking and they whistled load at a paltry 32mph. I called Mallone direct in Maine. They said that I did everything right. So I returned them to Dick ’s and reordered the 50 ” size. This time I made sure to install the grove rubber strips exactly so there was no space for the wind to catch and whistle. Much better this time. Do still get some whistle but nothing like before. I can put black electrical tape on the TOP stip and that will eliminate all whistle according to what I ’ ve read. Will definitely keep these. Have a friend who has three Subaru and three different brands of cross bars and each has some kind of noise. Even the$ 600 Thule.

Last year I bought kayak racks from Amazon. Despite having the top ratings and reviews, they did n't even last the trip from NY to Maine. The plastic nuts shredded just from hand tightening. This year I ordered a set of Malone Auto Racks and they were great. The threads in the nuts are reinforced metal and held up to tightening. They did n't loosen at all on the 7 hour drive. The instruction manual also contained useful information on using the straps and tying knots properly. I would definitely recommend these racks!

I recently bought this for my first kayak( Perception) L. L. Bean Manatee 10. 0. It installed nicely on my 2010 Chevy Equinox and with the help of the Thule slide, I am able to lift and load without any help. It was a nice snug transport of 10 miles driving 55mph. I am a 44 year old, 5' 3 '' female. In purchasing this item, I researched the ability to load by myself, cost of the product and being able to attach the saddle to a factory installed roof rack. The fact that I will probably be able to use this on my next car was also a bonus.

I bought the malone saddle pro and I love it. My problem before was I was unable to lift a kayak by myself for it to sit sideways on the roof of my SUV. Easy installment, adjusts to the shape of my kayak. I should of bought this setup last year. Would suggest this product to anyone.

Purchased this saddle for my Wilderness Ride System 115. Previously had the Yakima Evenkeel which sucked for my yak because it was too heavy. The Malone Saddleup Pro is a lot better as far as quality goes. It is VERY easy to assemble and only takes a few minutes. It is also very ridgid and strong. This kayak saddle has made my life easier. The rear saddles with the felt lining make it really easy to slide and push the Kayak up. I have this saddle paired with the Yakima Showboat 66 '' Roller System on my 2013 Subaru Wrx hatchback. The two products work great to load heavier kayaks by myself.

Carried two 10ft kayaks 900miles on top of my van, often at 70mph, they rode great. Did have to tighten the straps after the first 50mi or so, I think the kayaks shifted in some way, then was good to go. Even when the straps were not completely snug the kayaks seemed secure on the rack. Tip, if the blue safety strap makes a wind noise, you might try a half twist in the strap as it spans the tops and bottoms of the kayaks. I did, and the whole assembly rode with no noticeable noise.

Looked on- line for a good kayak rack to transport two recently purchased kayaks at Dick's. The reviews per positive for the Malone Stax Pro2 Kayak Rack. I got a good deal ordering it on- line at Dick's with free shipping. My son and I mounted the rack and it worked well. It took about 30 minutes to figure out how to assemble and install the rack. After the initial install it was easy to use. Could install it in my sleep, once I had experience with the initial install. The rack did a good job transporting to a nearby reservoir. However, on the return trip there was a vibration/hum from the equipment on the roof of the vehicle. Maybe it is the angle/positioning of the kayaks on the return trip that caused this noise. A lady pulling a kayak on a carrier kept looking our way, and she asked where I got the rack, and wanted to know how I liked it. She never seen one like it and was interested in the performance, which I gave it a thumbs up:)

As a canoeist/kayaker for 47 years, I 've tied/racked/trucked a lot of boats. I can recommend the quality of the Malone racks... study frames, reliable attachment system to the car/van, good padding to avoid damage to the boats, good sturdy straps for securing the racks& boats. However, I have been using 2 sets of the Malone J- Racks which can stay attached to the vehicle but can be folded down when not in active use. Getting the racks folded or back into place is very easy and I think can make setting the straps before racking the boat a tad easier than a stationary rack. I like the idea of calling less attention to the fact I have the racks on at all, also cuts down on wind resistence and noise. For a few dollars more, you should shop around for a deal on the Malone fold- down racks.

I 've used a few times now and overall it's a very good J- cradle kayak rack for the price. I 'm going to buy some easier to fasten bow and stern lines but overall it's a nice system. It would be nice if they had locking feature for peace of mind.

This Kayak rack is great. It is easy to install and easy to load. Safe and effective. When I am hauling just a few miles at 45 mph I skipped the bow and tail lines and it was just fine. When I haul on the highway I will strap is down fully. Liked this product enough I ordered a second one!

Unfortunately, I could n't use this system because unlike the picture, the rear piece does not extend over the back of my vehicle because I have to locate the cross rails more forward. Also, my kayak is too heavy for me to lift onto the piece and I had to figure out a difference way to get it on top of my SUV. For most people, though, it's a good system and the price was very reasonable

I use this trailer for my 12' fishing kayak. Buying American has many advantages, in particular that the build instructions are in English and easy to understand. The directions walk you through everything and the pictures are excellent shots of the steps. It took me over 4 hours to put it together, but I 'm a 54 yr/old woman!

I love my Malone Microsport trailer! It pulls nicely on windy, country roads. Very versatile. Can adjust cradle placement. After a long day of kayaking, we can easily lift our kayaks on the trailer. Solid materials make for a solid product. Best investment for avid kayakers!

I am just completing the assembly. Was surprised how quickly it arrived since I chose the free ground shipping. The instruction manual is easy to follow and assembly has been easy so far. The trailer seems to be well designed and the materials are sturdy and carefully manufactured. No missing holes, extra pieces or special tools needed.
A cross rail rack is a type of roof rack system designed to provide a sturdy platform for transporting various outdoor gear and equipment. It typically consists of two horizontal bars that run across the width of a vehicle's roof, allowing for the secure attachment of items such as kayaks, bicycles, or cargo boxes. These racks are versatile and can be used with different mounting systems to fit a variety of vehicle types.
Cross rail racks are often made from durable materials such as aluminum or steel, which provide strength and stability while remaining lightweight. Some models may feature weather-resistant coatings to protect against rust and corrosion, ensuring longevity even in harsh conditions. The choice of material can impact the rack's weight capacity and overall performance.
When selecting a cross rail rack, consider the weight capacity, compatibility with your vehicle, and the type of gear you plan to transport. Additionally, look for features such as aerodynamics, ease of installation, and adjustability to accommodate different load sizes. It's also important to check for any additional accessories that may enhance functionality.
Yes, cross rail racks are highly versatile and can be used for a variety of outdoor activities, including kayaking, biking, skiing, and camping. Depending on the design and accessories available, these racks can securely hold different types of equipment, making them ideal for adventurers who need to transport gear for multiple activities. Ensure that the rack you choose is suitable for your specific needs.
To ensure proper installation of a cross rail rack, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. Make sure the rack is securely mounted to your vehicle's roof and that all components are tightened appropriately. Regularly check the installation for any signs of wear or loosening, especially before long trips or when carrying heavy loads.
