My wife has had this helmet for several years. She wore it pretty regularly until this past summer. Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. It fits like a glove and I totally forget I 'm wearing it while riding. It's by far not as bulky as the POC helmets and it also feels at least subjectively lighter. This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. I really wanted a helmet with MIPS, and liked the look and comfort of this helmet( sleeker than the original Isode), but simply could n't make it fit. The straps are sewn at a fixed point where they meet under the ear, rather than having an adjustable clip as most other helmets do. When the chin clip was adjusted to the correct length, the front strap came down an inch in front of my ears, and the `` Y joint '' was at my jaw rather than under my ears. The strap system pulls through the back, so all Giro needed to do was add a clip under the ear on the right side. The straps are softer than on cheaper models, adding to the comfort factor. If only it could be made to fit.

[ As is typical of Bell helmets, this is a really good brain crate for road biking. It's light, fits and breathes well, even on the hottest of days, while being fully adjustable to fit with or without a skull cap. About the only thing that it falls short on is the straps are shorter than I 'd like, such that I only have about an inch of strap beyond the buckle and would prefer to see another 1- 2 inches for better adjustability. This seems to be Bell's new norm, after many years where their straps tended to be too long.

Trace seems to me is upgraded Overtake which I 've had for some years. Please do n't take my word but similarities are there. Very satisfied with Overtake except ventilation. Smith got it fixed with Trace even with glasses vents to eliminate fogging. That works well but I 've not had a chance to test it on humid summer day. Downfall is that the helmet's front sits lower over glasses to make ventilation work but I 've experienced bumping between helmet and glasses during rougher gravel ride. MTB ride was the same story but I can live with that. It is not a MTB helmet. Fits great just like Overtake. Love new improved straps. Highly recommend this lid.

I have been wearing one of these helmets for about a year. It is comfortable, well vented and light. After crashing at a bike park and landing face first on a rock I can also confidently say that it offers great protection also. I broke the helmet, but walked away with only a small cut on my face. I also bought the same helmet as a replacement. If you 're considering buying a mainline, get one.
