It was purchased too late in the season to be tested but I have over 40 years experience with Daiwa Reels and Rods so there is little doubt it will live up to the Daiwa repuration. I recently picked up my first Shimano Reel ever!!! BTR4000OC is the one I chose to go with for the option of having the ability to allow bait to run freely with out having to keep a bail flipped open. I like the freespool feature on my Penn Rival with clicker for this purpose as well. But I wanted a spinning reel and my local DSG did not have any Penn LL's in stock in store. I had toyed with the Shimano's many times in store but always walked away from them... Not because I did n't know the name, but just because of my love of Penns.. Anyhow back to the reel, I mated this reel to a 7' Berkley Lightning HD 1 piece rod with 14lb Cajun Mono backing and 30lb Sufix 832 Advanced. I took this combo out to the Apollo Beach park the next morning and caught a nice little red snapper on live bait. Then the next day the reel got the real test, I was jigging soft plastics with 15 lb flouro leader when I hooked into a good sized snook just above slot. This reel handled the snook like a dream, did not wear me out before wearing down the fish. I was able to land this snook but was unable to capture a picture as I was out in the water wading with out a camera. I do recommend this reel, will be purchasing the 8000 series to replace my worn out reel on my surf rod!

I bought this for an upcoming fishing trip and the location changed from freshwater lake fishing to saltwater coastal fishing. Although it is not a dedicated saltwater reel the stainless steel bearings should hold up. I just need to be careful not to drop it too many times in the sand. We all know how brutal saltwater can be on fishing tackle it up a little heavy because I had 30lb braid on hand. This thing rocks! Pretty much any I wanted to and reeling in was super smooth and effortless. The drag was very easy to adjust and worked as described. The reel is super lightweight especially with the carbon fiber handle and will definitely help keeping from getting fatigued on long days of fishing.

bought this new reel last week and am impressed with the overall quality. The fit and finish are excellent. I spooled it up with 20 lb braid( 6 lb equivalent mono) and it spooled nicely. There is a section in the middle of the spool to keep the line from sliding which is a nice feature. I made some test casts with it and it cast very smoothly and very long. The reel itself is very smooth and quiet with the 10+1 ball bearings. The drag also seems very smooth even when tightened down substantially further than I 'll probably need. This will now be my go to spinning reel. Excellent quality.

I bought this for an upcoming trip but right after I submitted the order the destination was changed from freshwater to salt water! Anyone that has fished salt knows how brutal it can be on tackle gear! While this is not a dedicated salt reel it is sealed and has stainless gears so it should hold up just fine. however I might be a little careful when fishing from shore because the sand has a way of getting into everything, and this is such a great reel. I spooled it a little heavier than suggested but I only had 30lb braid on hand but this reel was super accurate with test casts, putting my rig right where I wanted to go, and even while paired with a shorter rod, I was able to cast further than with other combos I have. Reeling in was effortless and had super quick gears, plus this reel is light weight, I could see fishing all day with it without the normal fatigue from heavier, more sluggish reels. I ca n't wait to put this into action because this reel is `` PRO '' all the way

This is a great spinning reel. I picked up the 2000 size to setup for some ultralight fishing. I have it paired with an Okuma Trout Rod with 15lb braid to 6 lb leader. This setup works great for casting ultralight lures. Went fishing this past weekend and the reel held up great. It's nice and smooth, fit and finish is great. Drag is very smooth. I 've always been a Shimano go to for years, and always will be, but was looking for a 2000 light reel for jigging and Shimano just does not have it in this price range with a larger high gear for more torque. I was using a 2500 Ultegra but it's just too heavy for long days of jigging. Tried to use a Stradic 1000 and it works but feels underpowered and with 6lb it's not ideal. Been using the Tatula 2000 model for inshore jigging with 6lb line and I ca n't fault it jigging for 5- 6 hours non stop being so light. The only gripe is the handle has a tiny bit of play but nothing a shim ca n't resolve. I changed the handle to a black Titanium Gomexus with ceramic bearings and now it's perfect. I am critical of my reels and I have many including the 22 Stradic and Stella as well as other lower model Diawa's. This is an extraordinary reel in how it feels. The shaft feels that it's spinning on air when turning the handle, something my other reels do n't feel like. It's really an amazing feeling. The reel never has failed once in operation and is very light. Line management is excellent but need to add a washer to get the line lay to not taper on the top from how it came originally.

I 've owned quite a few Zeb co reels over the last 40 years and they are an affordable and consistent performer. I rarely lose a fish because of the reel. They 're easy to use and fun. And this is the best I 've ever used. It's nearly silent. The drag action is smooth as silk and the retrieve is just as good. Gone is the loud ratcheting sound when a fish puts on a fight. If you like that, then grab the Authentic 33. It will sound like you expect, but this is silent and buttery smooth. Zeb co makes much more expensive reels, loaded up with quality bearings. But unless you 're making a living on a boat, this should be plenty. I go fishing every weekend with my sons and I 've caught dozens of fish on this. Mostly pan fish, crappie and bass but I 've reeled in a few nice carp and catfish as well. The reel did well.
