The included mount can be used in either a low profile( more hole cutting, more secure) or high profile setting. I have one mounted in front of me, and the adjustable angle means I can switch it to vertical, and troll with a rod in front of me instead of behind. Installed on kayak in short time. Locking feature for rod holder is nice. Not super easy to turn but not too difficult either. Plastic seems strong and durable. Rod holder can be pulled out of base without too much effort, but it is secured and isn ’ t going got come out on its own without being pulled out.
