Much nicer than the Scotty product, and if you get the Starport HP mount instead, a much lower profile mount if you ’ re doing a non- fishing trip and don ’ t need the holder mounted. The included mount can be used in either a low profile( more hole cutting, more secure) or high profile setting. I have one mounted in front of me, and the adjustable angle means I can switch it to vertical, and troll with a rod in front of me instead of behind. Gimble at the base caters for different length rod handles. Secure lock on base. Bought more of them.

Installed on kayak in short time. Locking feature for rod holder is nice. Not super easy to turn but not too difficult either. Plastic seems strong and durable. Rod holder can be pulled out of base without too much effort, but it is secured and isn ’ t going got come out on its own without being pulled out.

These were well worth the$ 5 more than the store brand at Dicks. They are solidly built and lock into place firmly with no play. Tried the other ones first, returned for these, more positions to put the rod in to.

A deck mount rod holder is a device designed to securely hold fishing rods in place while on a boat or dock. It allows anglers to have their hands free while waiting for a bite, making it easier to manage multiple lines or perform other tasks. These holders are typically mounted to the deck of a boat, providing stability and accessibility.
Deck mount rod holders are often made from durable materials such as high-quality plastics, stainless steel, or aluminum. These materials are chosen for their resistance to corrosion and wear, ensuring that the rod holders can withstand harsh marine environments. Additionally, some holders may feature rubber or foam padding to protect the rods from damage.
Many deck mount rod holders come with adjustable features that allow users to change the angle or height of the rod. This adjustability is important for optimizing rod position based on fishing techniques or personal preference. Some models may also include locking mechanisms to secure the rod in place once the desired position is set.
Deck mount rod holders are versatile and can be used for various types of fishing, including freshwater and saltwater fishing. They are ideal for techniques such as trolling, bottom fishing, or simply waiting for a catch while relaxing on the water. The choice of holder may depend on the type of rod and reel being used, as well as the fishing environment.
Installing a deck mount rod holder typically involves securing it to the deck of a boat using screws or bolts, depending on the design. It's important to choose a location that provides easy access while ensuring stability. Many holders come with installation instructions, and some may require basic tools for proper setup.
When selecting a deck mount rod holder, consider factors such as the type of fishing you plan to do, the size and weight of your rods, and the material of the holder for durability. Additionally, look for features like adjustability, ease of installation, and compatibility with your boat's deck. User reviews can also provide insight into the performance and reliability of different models.
