Purchased this for a camping trip to the Oregon coast. I ’ m 6 ’ tall and fairly broad shoulders, but was quite comfortable in this bag. The overnight temps were right in- line with the recommended use for this bag, and again, I was comfortable in it. My only complaint is that the zipper pull is only on the outside and most of my other bags have one inside and out. That made zipping all the way to the top a little less convenient. Overall I would recommend this sleeping bag and would buy another if I had need for a second.

[ Note: I have not field tested this bag, but tried it at home and have three other sleeping bags: a WM 5 degree, MH 15 degree, and another Marmot Phase 15. I was excited to try this, as have always loved the Marmot bags for quality and warmth. I 'm a stomach sleeper, and the idea of having a central zip for ease of in/out and minimal zipper appealed to me. However, although the bag is incredibly warm, the zipper is too short for any real venting, and no foot box zipper or venting. This contributes to it's exceedingly warm ration, but I decided that for the price, I would pass and keep my other Marmot side zippered bag. There is one zipper on the right side with a nice long pull cord so my kids we able to easily open and close it while laying inside. This is a mummy bag and has two pull strings on each side which pull it close around their head to stay warm. When open there was plenty of room to add a pillow inside the bag for them.

A good heavy- duty zipper goes all the way across the bottom so that the bag can open flat and there is a neat feature, a Velcro flap that covers the top of the zipper so that it won ’ t unzip in use or allow the zipper to be damaged when zipped up. The bag has a soft, smooth interior. Also, another cool thing is you can stuff the sleeping bag back into the storage sack instead of rolling it up, good feature for a parent!

It OPENS on the bottom to stick your feet out. This is why I bought it. I ca n't stand sleeping without sticking my feet out to breathe lol. I have a 4runner that I am able to sleep in with plenty of room so I got the Basecamp bag to use in it. The bag is very big with plenty of wiggle room, which is important to me since I flip and flopp around at night. There is also space for the next days clothes I can keep in the bag. [ COMFORT: First off let me state that this bag is not made of some super thin sticky nylon like some ultralight bags are. This very soft to the touch and extremely comfortable. I actually prefer the way it feels to my actual bed at home that we have spent thousands on. The bag lofts up nice and thick and looks very inviting and actually makes you excited to snuggle down in it for sleep. In addition, the bag is very roomy. It doesn ’ t feel constricting like typical mummy bags. If you are a side sleeper or toss and turn I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU GET THE LONG VERSION of this bag even if you don ’ t need it for height. The main reason is that the long version of this bag is also wider in the foot box than the regular length. This provides quite a bit more comfort for those of us who move around a lot at night. Even though the long bag says it ’s for 6 ’ 6 ” people I ’ m 5 ’ 10 ” and this allows me to snuggle down into the bag and pull it over my head for warmth as well as leaving me the option to store gear in the bottom to prevent it from freezing. Had I got the regular length it would have forced me to sleep with my head outside exposed and left no room in the foot box. TEMPERATURE RATING TEST: It ’s October now and we recently had some cooler weather move in for a couple of days so I used it as an opportunity to test the bag and my new sleep pad. According to accuweather temps dipped down to 40*. I slept outside on our deck to test this bag. First I laid down a thin blanket to prevent any damage to my thermarest from splinters or such. Next was my thermarest neo- air xlite. Finally, this bag which is comfort rated to 32* when you wear appropriate base layers. As stated above, the temps supposedly dipped down to 40* and I chose to wear nothing but my boxer briefs as I figured if I stayed warm then I should have no problem staying warm to 32* with wool base layers as the rating suggest. I can confirm that the bag worked great. No issues whatsoever. I slept all night in the bag and never got cold. Starting off the night when it was around 48* I was actually too hot and had to unzip the bag. At about 7am when temps were at their low I stayed zipped inside but stayed comfortable. The biggest surprise to me was that I didn ’ t get cold feet. I don ’ t think I have ever slept outside and not got cold feet. And this is while wearing thick wool socks. Often 2 pair of them! In this sleeping bag I wore no socks at all and my feet stayed warm. This was a pleasant surprise. I now have no worries as winter progresses that this bag will do just fine in lower temps so long as I wear appropriate clothing as suggested. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, if you like to move around at night and don ’ t like a typical mummy bag this is the one you should get. It ’s very roomy and never once did I feel confined. I rolled and tossed all over the place and stayed warm and cozy. I spent hours searching for something lighter and while you may find something a few ounces lighter than this bag it will cost twice as much and will be about a foot narrower in the foot box. I hope thermarest never stops making these bags. I want to save up for the 0* version now for those really cold nights. I now have a thermarest xlite pad, this thermarest sleeping bag, and a thermarest pillow and none of them have disappointed me. At this point I don ’ t think I would hesitate to buy anything thermarest offers if I needed it because it ’s clear their gear is well thought out and quality made.

Bought this for my son. It is very warm and rolls up well to pack away. My only minor issue is that I wish the bag had a zipper pull on the inside of the bag instead of a zipper on the outside only with a long elastic pull chord. The zipper has caught the fabric and jammed a few times already, but it is easy to pull out and re- zip.

I took this bag with me for a climbing trip down in bishop. The long bag is the perfect length for me( I 'm 6' 1) and provides plenty of width in essential areas like the shoulders and leg area. Temperatures on my trip gradually decreased as my trip went on, starting at 30- degree nights and dropping down to 18- degree nights towards the end of the trip. I would say the comfortability range is around the 27 to 30- degree mark. Once it dropped below 25, I started to get a little colder. If you want to use this bag in sub- 30- degree weather, I would recommend a fleece and a hoodie to make it a more comfortable night. Overall, this is a great bag and it did not disappoint. The tech specs advertised were pretty spot on as far as temperature rating. If you 're looking for a good sleeping bag for an affordable price, this is the one.

After hours of research, I decided on and purchased the Nemo Tempo 20 men ’s regular spoon sleeping bag specifically for our trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks as we car camped for 5 nights. While it was mid- May, night temps can drop into the low 30 ’s. Admittedly, I made my purchase from a third party, as I was skeptical about the quality and warmth factor. I am a 5 ’ 8 ” woman and wanted to be sure I had enough length to be comfortable so I opted for the men ’s Tempo. The fit was great and it was very comfortable. Didn ’ t bind or twist when I repositioned throughout the night. But the most important thing is it kept me very warm. Nighttime temps dipped into mid- 30 ’s. I only wore base layer leggings and top, no socks and my feet stayed toasty warm. In fact, I got so warm that I had to unzip the bag to regulate my body temp. [ I brought this sleeping bag with me on my thru- hike of the Pacific Crest Trail last summer. I slept in it for 150 nights and never let me down! Great balance between weight, warmth, and price. However, I found it very narrow. I like to sleep with my legs forming a figure 4 shape, but it was impossible to do in this bag. I also rotate like a rotisserie chicken during the night and I got tangled in it a few times. A little bit cold when temperatures drop towards 0°C, especially when the bottom of the bag is exposed, as it is less insulated than the top. I had to wear my puffy for those nights or wrap it around my bum to keep it warm. Finally, I found it a bit bulky but it is overall a great product! I would recommend it to thru- hikers on a budget or anyone going on shorter trips.

At six feet tall, 180 pounds, 34 waist, large hips and broad shoulders, I had plenty of room to sleep on my back and side. I had no problem with length even with my air pillow tucked into the hood. The temperature rating on the bag felt good in 30°F weather, keeping me nice and warm, paired with a sleeping pad rated at 4. 1 R value.
