I got these for my son who spends a lot of time either shoveling the snow or playing with my grandson in the snow. We have had a lot of below zero windchills, and it becomes very dangerous for frostbite without the proper gloves. He absolutely loves these! I work outside throughout the winter and the hardest thing to do is keep my fingers warm when it gets 20 degrees or less. I decided to try these mittens for the times I do n't need fingers( gloves). They are excellent. I added a Hot Hands hand warmer to each mitten and they kept my fingers toasty. I was expecting those gloves to be good, but they absolutely exceeded my expectations. The first time I wore them, I was outside for six hours in steady rain and near- freezing temperatures. My hands were the driest part of me. Not that these are waterproof- they aren't- but the grid fleece on the backs of the hands wicks and breathes so well that my body heat dried the gloves faster than they could get wet. My hands stayed warm and dry, and the fingers were still dextrous enough that I could work outside. Love these and will be buying more, plus anything else made of Vigor Plus fleece that I can get my hands on. Big improvement in fit over the previous year's model as well.

These are my new favorite belay gloves! I take them up on the wall when I 'm doing multipitch climbs and also to the sport crag. They are versatile and generally awesome! I did get some holes in them after some usage, so be aware the durability is an issue, but I really have n't found a glove that's both dextrous and durable. Belay gloves put up with some serious abuse, so I 'm not really sure what's reasonable to expect.

[ The fit is a bit small, depending on what you plan on doing with them. I bought these in a women's small. I have small hands; my palm circumference is an even 7 '' and the length of my hand is just less than 7 ''. I 've never previously found a women's small to be at all tight, in fact, sometimes I have to order extra smalls, but these gloves are just a tad bit on the small side. They fit perfectly when my hand is curled, as if you 're holding onto your ski poles or something else, but when I try to stretch my hand as open as possible, it feels just a bit tight in the length. So if you plan on standing around with your hand opened wide and pressed down flat, you should size up. The other issue is the gauntlet sleeve is a little tight/small in circumference-- it's just a bit hard to pull on over a parka sleeve, especiallly if one glove is already on. Also, if you want really fine dexterity, these are too thick for that. I found that while the touchscreen fingers do work fine on my phone and tablet, the difficulty comes in in accuracy, due to the thickness of the gloves. I also found it a little difficult to use a sensitive two button mouse without accidental clicks. However, those things aside, the gloves are very comfy/cozy. The inside lining is soft and I have n't yet noticed sweaty palms. They kept me warm and dry working outside in cold and rainy weather, which is what I bought them for. I would have preferred if the palms had been reinforced with another layer of leather, but so far they seem to be holding up to chopping and stacking wood and other miscellaneous odd jobs around a cabin in the woods when it's cold and rainy. I would imagine these would be good for snowsports as well as winter motorcycling, but again, if you 're looking for really fine touchscreen dexterity, I 'd find a thinner glove that maybe is n't as warm/thick.

[ I previously wore out a pair of Outdoor Research sun gloves that left fingers exposed. I was pretty happy with them but I thought it would be better to have full coverage of my hands. Not a significant difference in how warm the gloves feel with the fingers covered- although that does mean I have to remove them to use my cell phone ‘s touchscreen. These gloves work well for blocking sun- I have taken them on multiple trips outdoors including a week on the PCT. The reinforced palm helps somewhat with preventing chafing from hiking poles. Not perfectly though and the fabric is not super durable so don ’ t abrade it! Also — gloves do not provide a super snug fit so I can ’ t seem to wear these and tie my shoelaces for instance.

So, that day I went and bought these and have no regrets. There two layers, a glove inside of a mitten, so you can use hand warmers and keep your palms and fingers warm.
