After a less enjoyable Vaporfly 3, I was ecstatic to try these on and immediately notice the similarities to the Vaporfly 2 which was previously my favorite Nike racings shoe. “ Adding lightness, ” in the words of Lotus, is the best thing you can do whenever you already have an incredible design. Laces have improved slightly, and are still the best on the market; these don ’ t stretch and don ’ t come untied. Durability is always the tradeoff with some foams, and is the only possible criticism of this pair.

I got this shoe to train for 5k- half marathon distances. The formulation of 100% super foam and a nylon/plastic plate works perfect for me. I can train and race in them without needing expensive carbon shoes which have caused me injury in the past( Endorphin Pro 3). Absolutely zero injuries with these so far. I was in between sizes with these and went with the larger size and they fit well. Narrow fit but no hotspots, great for when I ’ m training fast intervals at 5k pace( ~6: 30/mile). Compared to the Endorphin Speed 2 they are not as bouncy or fast, but they are MUCH more stable which lets me get more easy miles in them as well to round out my training. Version 3 was my all- time favorite 2 years ago, and now Version 5 improves on that in essentially every way, plus the wide- size is available- which I prefer for a more accommodating fit. Overall, this shoe is propulsive, rolls nicely, and is surprisingly well cushioned. The upper is exceptionally well breathable. This shoe is considerably more stable than Version 3 was which is a nice surprise. It's excellent on the street, and outstanding on the treadmill with the shoe's geometry supporting smooth rolling transitions. I just finished my 10- mile morning run. I really enjoy the Pro 5. I could feel the difference: super lightweight and stable. The greater firmness provides more stability, and I was able to run faster. The sole is intact. I 've read and watched videos about complaints, but the problem is n't the shoes. The problem is that we have different foot types, shapes, and strides. Underpronator, supinated, overpronator, or Heel striker. In my case, I have a neutral gait: my weight is distributed evenly from heel to toe, which gives me greater stability. I have never had problems with my knees, hips, Achilles tendons, calves, etc. I have worn various brands, but Adidas offers the best stability, comfort, and speed. I do use other brands and models occasionally, just to add variety to my training.
