In the past I had a few bad experiences with Daiwa fishing gear and as a result was skeptical of their products for years. Then a couple months ago I bought a couple Daiwa reels that impressed me for carp fishing and they were so sturdy and solid and casted so well that I use them for saltwater as well. While the reels were up to the challenge for surf fishing my Carp rods were not so I picked up 2 of these 11 Daiwa surf rods and am so glad I did. They feel so good and solid and cast beautifully. I have so much control over where my bait lands with these rods and have just enough sensitivity to see and feel even the small bites. I am blown away by the quality of these rods and would recommend them to anyone.

I ordered this originally in February and instead of receiving the item I ordered( 10ft MH) i got a Marathon Fathom rod... after complaining to customer service, they sent me out a new one.... now of course, the rod I received was only 9ft and not the 10ft I ordered. Dicks still has n't given me the product I originally ordered. However, the 9ft performed exactly how I thought it would. and it was awesome. It threw 4oz with a chunk of clam at least 80yrds with ease. Handled bringing in two schoolie stripers 26and 27 '' perfectly. I plan on buying another one... just hope I actually get what I order this time.

The reel is bigger than I expected and was prespooled with monofilament line. For anyone wondering the 9' combo is medium heavy power with medium action. It is rated for 12- 25 pound line and can cast 3/4 oz to 2 1/2 oz weights.

I ’ m up to 3 of these now, 2 spinning and 1 casting and they ’ re my clear favorites across Fitzgerald, Shimano teramar xx, and a few other random brands of rods I own. I find the action is on the faster side with the Medium/Fast version of these rods, which is perfect for my preferences. Love the full cork grip as well.
