I got one of these jigs last week and went fishing with it the same day. I got my first striper and then 9 more. I kept the two largest ones 21& 22 ”. The best part is the jig looks ready to go again with no damage to the grub tail. There are a few small chips in the paint from getting dropped on concrete while in a striper ’s mouth. I bought a second one in chartreuse for the next trip.

Crimson Ghost
I use 3in and 4in Big Hammers as my go to swimbait on 1/4th and 3/8th ounce swimbait heads. They have a great tail thump/ body wobble that it just right, not too little and not too much. The tail swims on the fall and does it's thing on the slowest of retrieves. I really like the keeled body because it helps it get down to the bottom quick, rather than round body swimbaits that might suspend in comparable situations with a ton of line out or in moving current. They are reasonably durable and they have a great color selection. They are literally the only swimbait I use on a swimbait jighead!

I bought these Big Hammer Swim Bait because they are one best I have used!

I really liked these leaders, you can work a bait much easier then with a steel leader. An the put up with anything a steel leader would.

So far, I really like this Flourocarbon leader! Before I bought a new fishing rod and reel setup I was using the 180# steel leader( the stiff kind, all silver) and my Dad said that your leader might be spooking the fish( I was n't catching anything, I know how to work each of my lures appropriately for a specific situation- and I was up North on the border of Wisconsin& Minnesota- good fishing there/ here) so I decided for my new rod and reel setup to listen to my Dad so I tried the 130# 18 '' Flourocarbon leader; I thought they are clear and will be less visible under water and the fish will be less spooked,( which they were) plus I 've seen Musky angler Lee Thompson use them and give his input about them on fishing videos on YouTube, I think I 've seen Al Linder's son use the Flourocarbon leaders before also. Even though I am liking this leader( a lot) I am still curious how this plastic or Flourocarbon leader will hold up with HUGE Musky and Northern Pike going nuts and flipping out repeatedly. Because I will go with, or back to a dark color steel leader if need be. But so far this Flourocarbon leader works VERY WELL, the fish are not being spooked, since it's clear the fish will know to strike the lure and possibly not the silver steel leader, the Flourocarbon leader allows the action of the lures being used to work VERY WELL( the way the Flourocarbon is malliable). The Flourocarbon leader is pretty thick and strong and durable looking it also feels stronger than what you think it is. It's a 5 star from me so far, sometimes I even forget it is tied onto my PowerPro 80# braid on my fishing rod( so the `` being less visible part works ''). I fish at Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, Minnesota and caught a little 22inch Northern Pike on a Rapala Slashbait( larger model, flashy bucktail, olive green color). But a couple days ago I had a follow up from a BIG fish at Lake Calhoun( fish was easily over 40inches could n't tell if it was a Musky or a Northern Pike, but it was BIG in length) on one of my newest lures that I bought from DSG( Strike King ProModel Series 10XD Crankbait- Chartreuse Sexy Shad- great lure for calling the Big Boys that lurk in the Deep). I think you will like the Flourocarbon leader if you give it a chance. I hoped this review helped.

When targeting stripers, it's important to choose tackle that can handle their size and strength. Common options include jigs, swimbaits, and poppers, which can mimic the natural prey of stripers. Additionally, using tackle that allows for versatility in different water conditions can enhance your chances of success.
Fishing tackle for stripers is often made from durable materials that can withstand harsh saltwater environments. Common materials include high-quality plastics for lures, strong braided lines for increased sensitivity, and corrosion-resistant hooks. These materials ensure that the tackle remains effective and reliable during fishing trips.
Choosing the right size of tackle for striper fishing depends on the size of the stripers you are targeting and the fishing conditions. Generally, larger tackle is recommended for bigger stripers, while smaller tackle can be effective for younger or smaller fish. It's also important to consider the type of bait and the fishing technique you plan to use.
Effective techniques for using fishing tackle to target stripers include casting and retrieving lures at varying speeds to mimic the movement of baitfish. Additionally, incorporating a stop-and-go action can entice strikes. Understanding the feeding patterns of stripers and adjusting your technique accordingly can significantly improve your success rate.
When selecting fishing tackle for stripers, consider factors such as the fishing environment, the time of year, and the behavior of the fish. The tackle should be suited for both the type of water—whether it's inshore or offshore—and the specific conditions like tide and weather. Additionally, the tackle's weight and action should match the fishing technique you intend to use.
