'' I fished off a pier at Put- in- Bay, OH in Lake Erie. I 'd never caught anything on an artificial bait or lure in my previous fishing years. I varied my retrieves and using a steady retrieve I started getting hits. In two hours I landed 6- 8 sheepshead( not a glamor fish, I know, but fun after 30 years away!), a white bass and a couple smallmouth( one threw the hook in the water though.) I was quite pleased, and with clear water at my location I could see the action. I liked it and obviously so did the fish. I 'll have to by a new fluorescent green one, though, as my line broke at the not while bringing one fish in. The fish swam off with the lure still in its mouth. Some lucky fisherman will get a lure.

I use 3in and 4in Big Hammers as my go to swimbait on 1/4th and 3/8th ounce swimbait heads. They have a great tail thump/ body wobble that it just right, not too little and not too much. The tail swims on the fall and does it's thing on the slowest of retrieves. I really like the keeled body because it helps it get down to the bottom quick, rather than round body swimbaits that might suspend in comparable situations with a ton of line out or in moving current. They are reasonably durable and they have a great color selection. They are literally the only swimbait I use on a swimbait jighead!

Caught 3 big bat rays and a 5 ft long leopard shark on the combo with ease. The hammered chrome seems to have a slight edge over the plain chrome in my estimation. You may have to get the 1 oz on Ebay vintage listing as I do n't think you will fine it listed. Great cast, trolled or deep water jigged. Will take most fish but I use for lake trout, walleye, N. Pike.
