I bought this reel about 2 months ago and so far, it's done great! I bought this reel for saltwater use and it has held up fine. I 've caught everything from edge of slot puppy drum off the beach to small specks and striper in the sound. I can happily report that thus far, I have had no problems with the unsealed drag. As far as the drag's performance, it could n't work better. the drag knob is easy to adjust while playing a fish and has a nice clicky- ness to it so you do n't over adjust it. I did get a little sand in there while fishing from the beach, but after removing the spool and giving it a thorough rinse it works like new. My few complaints are rather petty. The first being that the finish seems to come off fairly easily. while having it in the canoe with me it was sliding around and the matte black finish rubbed off a bit around the rim. however, it's hardly noticeable and only cosmetic. Secondly, the rubbery handle occasionally catches the fly line when I 'm casting. It juts out a bit more than I care for.

When I actually tried it I did n't know how to use it but it was little difficult at first but I feel like this was the first beginning one to use. My best friend had one that he just bought did n't know how to use one at the time and I fully backlashed it so using this helped me to actually how to use it and it would n't backlash on me. After like two times at the pond I did it backlash in I be casting really far with this and I 'm very glad that I bought this. This is great quality for the great price it is and is very easy to fit in cars because it's two piece which means it can snap in half. So if you want to baitcaster I recommend this one if you 're a beginner.

I made a decision to purchase this reel because they were on sale. I am a Shimano guy. I bought one and put it on my most abused application. 65 pound braid. On my frog rod. One year later I purchased 2 more due to apparent toughness of the first. Put them on my second and third most used rods. Fast forward two more years, I have replaced all of my Shimano reels. And do n't expect to look back. Cost is 30 to 40 percent lower than the Shimano reels. Thank you for making the choice to keep these reels in an affordable price.

I bought it last night, i got it spool with 15 pound pline flouro, set the tension knob were the lure falls slow big key to prevent backlash cast it with 12 mph wind towards my face for 3 hours not one single backlash. Do not listen to the manual on how to set the tension knob. Smooth retrieve compare to the regular slx you guys will notice that.

Left hand wind is a must for me. I am right handed but never figured out why so many people choose to cast with their right hand and then switch hands so they can wind with their right hand. Got to use this immediately on a recent trip to the beach. Not to heavy and bulky like my other reels. Smooth retrieve. Only caught small fish so the bait feeder system disnt really come into play but boy is it a cool feature. Look forward to using it for fall striper fishing!

I have been getting into Bait Caster reels. Bought Shimano, Diawa, and this Lews reel. The Shimano Curado only had 4 brake setting and I could n't get it to cast very far without backlash. The Diawa worked ok. The tention knob was very touchy and hard to access behind the drag. The Lews had a great brake knob that had a good range of tension. It has 20 brake settings and it casts awesome. Get this one....

We have a pair of these in the rocket tubes for Northeast striper fishing. They are on Ugly Stik 6. 5' Tiger Elites. The reel is strong, big crank, the level winder is strong enough for 40# plus stripers and its one less thing to worry about when you are hooked up with a big bass. Plenty of drag and they hold a lot of braid( we use 30 pound Spiderwire). Just make sure you wash them well, they are not saltwater sealed as good as others. Not a lot of bearings but smooth and tough.

I 've always been a Shimano go to for years, and always will be, but was looking for a 2000 light reel for jigging and Shimano just does not have it in this price range with a larger high gear for more torque. I was using a 2500 Ultegra but it's just too heavy for long days of jigging. Tried to use a Stradic 1000 and it works but feels underpowered and with 6lb it's not ideal. Been using the Tatula 2000 model for inshore jigging with 6lb line and I ca n't fault it jigging for 5- 6 hours non stop being so light. The only gripe is the handle has a tiny bit of play but nothing a shim ca n't resolve. I changed the handle to a black Titanium Gomexus with ceramic bearings and now it's perfect. I am critical of my reels and I have many including the 22 Stradic and Stella as well as other lower model Diawa's. This is an extraordinary reel in how it feels. The shaft feels that it's spinning on air when turning the handle, something my other reels do n't feel like. It's really an amazing feeling. The reel never has failed once in operation and is very light. Line management is excellent but need to add a washer to get the line lay to not taper on the top from how it came originally.
