I bought this for my wife to learn how to fly fish. She paired it with a Fenwick flyrod and was fishing in no time. Caught her first bass on her second cast and her second bass on her third cast ever fishing with it! I borrowed it from her and caught a bass and a hybrid bluegill with it as well. Very nice reel!

Pescador
I bought this reel about 2 months ago and so far, it's done great! I bought this reel for saltwater use and it has held up fine. I 've caught everything from edge of slot puppy drum off the beach to small specks and striper in the sound. I can happily report that thus far, I have had no problems with the unsealed drag. As far as the drag's performance, it could n't work better. the drag knob is easy to adjust while playing a fish and has a nice clicky- ness to it so you do n't over adjust it. I did get a little sand in there while fishing from the beach, but after removing the spool and giving it a thorough rinse it works like new. My few complaints are rather petty. The first being that the finish seems to come off fairly easily. while having it in the canoe with me it was sliding around and the matte black finish rubbed off a bit around the rim. however, it's hardly noticeable and only cosmetic. Secondly, the rubbery handle occasionally catches the fly line when I 'm casting. It juts out a bit more than I care for.

I bought this as my first baitcaster and have nothing but great things to say about it. The Paramag braking system is a huge game changer. It really is a step above normal brakes. I have tested the limits with casting without backlashing happening, unless it was my own fault. The rod was a major surprise. I was expecting something average. However, it is very light and sensitive. This is an excellent value.

I am fairly new using a bait caster but the one I had was left handed and I ’ m a righty so I need a new one. I had read the reviews on this reel and although a little more expensive than I had planned on, once I held it I knew it was right. Everything from spooling it up to setting the brakes and the tension was so easy. I highly recommend this reel.
5
Thefisherman64
I made a decision to purchase this reel because they were on sale. I am a Shimano guy. I bought one and put it on my most abused application. 65 pound braid. On my frog rod. One year later I purchased 2 more due to apparent toughness of the first. Put them on my second and third most used rods. Fast forward two more years, I have replaced all of my Shimano reels. And do n't expect to look back. Cost is 30 to 40 percent lower than the Shimano reels. Thank you for making the choice to keep these reels in an affordable price.

I have been getting into Bait Caster reels. Bought Shimano, Diawa, and this Lews reel. The Shimano Curado only had 4 brake setting and I could n't get it to cast very far without backlash. I 'm glad I chose this reel as my first Bait caster reel! Easy to learn and it casts tiny jigs during the early spring bite.
5
KYC8
This is my first BFS baitcasting reel, and it lives up to the promises of being able to cast lighter baits further. It certainly works better once dialed in properly, but as a relative novice on casting reels I was able to get near optimal settings within a two attempts and was matching my casting distances compared to a spinning reel. The gear ratio makes for a faster retrieve, and the overall weight is very light when paired with an ultralight rod. I will still keep a spinning reel for when I want to drop a bait to a certain depth since that is easy to measure by counting turns on the reel, but for all other finesse applications I will most likely be using this reel in the future.
5
Mikee82087
This reel is so smooth and cast so good and is built great feels good and comfortable in hand the brakes work great and allow casting with no backlash in this is hands down the best reel I have ever owned don ’ t hesitate to buy it I highly recommend it!

Jon8956
This reel is a prime example of when engineering meets functionality. Its extremely lightweight, sleek and has excellent adjustments for precision casting. It also solves the problem of being able to throw light lures a long way so you can put your lures in the strike zone without getting too close and spooking the fish. The reel action and drag are both exceptionally smooth and the ergonomics are fantastic even for those with slightly larger hands. This reel will remain a favorite in my fishing arsenal for foreseeable future.

It's sensitive, so I 'd make sure you work the brake up slowly if you 're new to baitcasters. But once it's dialed it, man, it is awesome. Good length and good accuracy. I 've always used Daiwa spinning reels and Abu baitcasters, but this has been a great crossover for me. Climbing the charts for my new favorite reel.

For context, I have been baitcasting for about two years now, but because I did n't know I would like it, I originally bought a cheap walmart reel. I traditionally liked spin casting. But with the weather getting warmer where I live, I decided it was time to upgrade.. enter Kastking! I love their products because they provide such great value( they are not always the cheapest, but for their price, I have never been disappointed with the quality). So, why this reel? with 11+1 BBS, this thing retrieves like a top. It is incredibly smooth. I am still somewhat new to understanding how gear ratio affects casting with different baits, but everything I have used casts extremely easily, and it has opened opportunities for me to try different baits. I am a big fan of the Texas rig, but I am moving into lighter baits, which this reel makes much easier. Now, every newer bait caster worries about nesting, but the dual braking system alleviated a lot of my concerns. It has made me much more confident about trying different cast methods. I also love that it is light and solid. My old reel weighed considerably more and felt more like a piece of garbage, this reel feels strong and like it should last a long time if I take care of it. It just feels premium in your hand. It was a great buy!
5
Gatorrich
I have had this reel about a week, I am really happy with it. I love the color with just a little hint of purple on the metal. It ’s the perfect size to fit in your hand and light as a feather. After adjusting the reel the amb backlash system works great. It casts a mile and is as smooth as butter with the 11+1 bbs. The gear ratio is a nice for both worm and lure fishing. The drag is easy to adjust and works great. I have many reels of all kinds and makes and this is a home run. This will be my reel of choice from now on.

I just ordered this reel last week and wanted to provide a detailed review of my recent purchase. Just as another reviewer shared, it is advertised as black, but my reel was a vibrant red. I spooled it with a 10lb braid and cast it with soft plastics with a 1oz weight. I set the tension so the lure just barely dropped from the end of the rod, then set the drag to 5/10. There are micro- adjust settings between the typical settings, meaning 0. 5 increments are possible. Once casting, wow, this thing can really send the bait pretty far. I would estimate I was regularly getting 35- 40yard casts on a relatively lightweight lure. Plus I was able to drop it the lure exactly where I wanted it to go. The reel is pretty typical size in the hand when palming. I would say its not the biggest or smallest, but it was comfortable to use. There is another switch on the back of the reel that changes the reel function to allow for flipping and pitching. I 've never seen this before on a reel and typically just used my thumb on the spool. When this is activated, you press the button holding it during the flip and let- go when you want the line to stop advancing. It took a few tries to get used to, but is still very intuitive to use. If you forget to switch it back when going back to do a normal long cast, it can be a surprise. However, I think it is a nice feature. I was able to catch some bass as a local pond with it and the drag was very smooth. There are a lot of bearings on this reel, box says 11+1, and it feels like it. I have multiple bait- casters, including some other higher end models, and this MegaJaws Elite reel fits right along side the others.

One of the best reels I have ever used. It's so smooth, powerful and sensitive. Its allot of handy features on it. No `` birdnest '' and it's really easy to cast with it and it's really far. Very nice reel, high price but worse it. Perfect combination with 11 feet Ugly Stick.

I 've been salt water fishing for over thirty years and have snapped plenty of lines. With this reel combo 'd with an ugly stick and PowerPro Spectra Green Braided Fishing Line, I have not snapped a single line. That's from flukes to small sharks.

When selecting a fast retrieve fishing reel, consider features such as gear ratio, drag system, and construction materials. A higher gear ratio allows for quicker line retrieval, which is essential for fast-paced fishing. Additionally, a reliable drag system ensures smooth performance when battling fish, while durable materials contribute to the reel's longevity.
Fast retrieve fishing reels are versatile and can be used for various fishing styles, including bass fishing, trout fishing, and saltwater fishing. They are particularly effective for techniques that require quick line retrieval, such as topwater fishing or when using fast-moving lures. Their efficiency helps anglers react swiftly to strikes and maintain control over their catch.
The construction of a fishing reel plays a significant role in its retrieval speed. Lightweight materials, such as carbon fiber or aluminum, reduce overall weight, allowing for faster and smoother retrieves. Additionally, the design of internal components, like gears and bearings, can enhance efficiency and minimize friction, contributing to quicker line recovery.
Drag systems are crucial in fast retrieve fishing reels as they regulate the amount of resistance a fish feels when pulling on the line. A well-designed drag system allows for smooth adjustments, which is essential when battling larger fish. This ensures that the line does not break while providing enough tension to keep the fish hooked.
Yes, fast retrieve fishing reels can be suitable for beginners, especially those looking to engage in active fishing styles. Many models are designed with user-friendly features that make them easy to operate. However, it's important for beginners to choose a reel that matches their skill level and the type of fishing they plan to do.
When choosing the size of a fast retrieve fishing reel, consider the type of fish you intend to catch and the fishing environment. Larger reels typically hold more line and are better suited for bigger fish, while smaller reels are easier to handle and more suitable for lighter fishing. It's also essential to match the reel size with the fishing rod for optimal performance.
To assess the durability of a fast retrieve fishing reel, look for reels made from high-quality materials such as aluminum or advanced composites. Additionally, check for features like sealed bearings and robust drag systems, which can enhance longevity. Reviews and user feedback can also provide insights into the reel's performance over time.
Maintaining fast retrieve fishing reels involves regular cleaning and lubrication to ensure smooth operation. After each fishing trip, it's advisable to rinse the reel with fresh water to remove salt and debris. Periodic lubrication of the bearings and gears will help maintain performance and extend the life of the reel.
