LOVE this bike
LOVE this bike! It's mens, but I 'm a woman that purchased it. Super smooth handling, many gears, feels great and very comfortable! Not to mention, Ralph in Freehold NJ made sure the bike I was getting was a great price and exactly my size. The department is really well run for the type of biker you are- whether you 're an avid biker, past time biker, or just a once in a while biker.

It had been over 20 years since I was on a bicycle. The sales person at Dick's was super. He took his time to go over various bikes and options. After I decided on a bike he then spent time checking out the tire pressure, brakes and other items. I am very happy with my new bike and my decision to go to Dicks for my purchase. Highly recommended.

This bike was better than I expected. While not quite as comparable to my Trek, it still fits the need in a pseudo hybrid/mountain bike fashion. What I like- light weight, front shocks, disk brakes and the seat is surprisingly good for me anyway. What I did n't like- pedals too small, put bigger ones on. No kickstand and the setup by Dicks was n't all that great. Both derailleurs would jump and ended up fine tuning myself. Once set, all works great.

The Switchback Expert has better frame geometry compared to a Trek Marlin. Up grading the heavy coil spring fork is not a problem with the tapered head tube to a light weight air spring fork will shave 5 lbs. off the bike. The rear wheel hub is a 141mm qr. is a limiting factor. No through axel. You can up grade to a 11 speed on the stock rear wheel. a new rear wheel with a Shimano wh- mt500 hub with microsline free wheel will get you 12 speed. The bike is light and fast and fun to ride. Sale price of$ 550 is hard to beat.

Had a few issues getting the bike from Dick ’s. I made the trip 3 TIMES, the first time I was emailed that it was Ready, get there and they said it still needed to be assembled. I come back later when they said it was good. I Get there and they tell me they had an issue with the assembly process and configuring the cassette to shift smoothly. End up going home for the night. Came back in the morning and the bike was finally ready. I just took it out on its first ride this morning and I ’ m pretty impressed with the bike, as I ’ m 6ft 1 and 250lb. The bike held up just fine. I would recommend upgrading to an Air Fork assembly though.

[ I ’ ve been riding this mountain bike for a month now, and I couldn ’ t be happier with it. The lightweight aluminum frame feels solid yet agile on the trails, and the 29 '' wheels roll over roots and rocks with ease. The front suspension absorbs bumps really well, and the disc brakes give me great control, even on steep descents. Gear shifts are smooth, and it handles both off- road and paved paths confidently. Overall, it ’s been a reliable and fun ride.

[ Alright, let's talk about the Mongoose Switchback Comp 29' in black. Regarding durability, this bike feels solid. The frame can handle some bumps. I 've taken it on some rough trails, and it's held up well. The components seem reliable, too, promising longevity for your investment, and fewer costly repairs down the line. The Switchback is surprisingly versatile. It's decent for trails, but it's also comfortable enough for city riding. Smooth roads or packed dirt, this bike handles it all without too much trouble. A versatile choice to consider when looking for a multi- terrain bike. Now, let's talk fit. The frame sizes cater to a broad range of heights. Pay attention to the sizing chart, but it offers a comfortable riding position for most. I 'm about average height, and I did n't have much trouble adjusting it to to fit my needs. In terms of performance, it's not a race bike, but it 'll get you where you need to go. The gears shift smoothly. The brakes are responsive, and the suspension deals well with bumps. It is a great starting point into mountain biking, to get you outdoors. Comfort is where this bike shines. The seat is surprisingly comfortable, even on longer rides. The front suspension soaks up bumps, and the overall geometry is upright and relaxed. Making those longer rides far less taxing on your body. Final thoughts? The Mongoose Switchback Comp 29' is a solid choice for beginners. It's durable, versatile, and comfortable, all at a great price. It's not the flashiest or the fastest, but it's a reliable entry to get you outdoors.

[ Im big on outdoors and love riding bikes on the trails! I was very surprised by this Switchback Comp from Mongoose. Mongoose is a well known name but I never realized they had such a beast like this and had to give it a try. First off packaging was really good and bike was completely protected. Was a really simple assembly and it was fun to do because you really get to see the design and engineering that was put in it. Tectonic T1 aluminum MTB frame really made this what looks like it should have some weight to it really makes it super light and durable. It was definitely made to be used and pushed to the limit and keep on going! It is really nice all the customizable adjustments you can make to get that perfect fit for anyone who is going to use it. The 2 x 7 drivetrain with Shimano derailleur and Microshift shifters made it really smooth to shift when going down and uphills. The Disc brake was absolutely amazing and gave the smoothest braking power whether it be hard or soft, which gives you maximum control when hitting a last second turn. I am by no means a pro or even hardcore mountain biker but I will say this is a really good starter bike for those who are really trying to upgrade their game from a basic 10- speed. I have throughly enjoyed this Switchback Comp from Mongoose and really would recommend it to anyone who is trying to level up their mountain biking skills!

[ My bf has loved this bike. It was super easy to put together and is perfect to get into trial/ mountain biking. He has also used it on the road and it ’s great for that as well. The gears shift so smooth and this bike is a great quality product that is going to hold up really well. He is 6 ’ 2 and the medium works great for him.

[ If you are looking for a dependable, trail bike- this one is for you! It was pretty easy to put together. It comes with a quick release for the wheels so it can go in and out of my car easily. The gears switch fast and its a great bike overall! The brakes do make some noise but I am hoping that subsides after I bike more this summer! My inner child wishes that this bike had a kick stand but I realize that it is not typical for this type of bike to have one lol
