I 've played with the former NBA official basketball, and like this one it took some time to get used to it. The other ball took close to 6 months of steady indoor use to get to a point where I felt the dribble was consistent and the feel was on point. Though this ball feels bad out the box, in my opinion it's already 2- 3 months ahead in the break in period than the Spalding is brand new. I 've had my Wilson for maybe 2 months and I 'm no where close to breaking it in, and I 'm still getting used to it but I love it so far.

Objective: find a good quality, durable ball for my kids( oldest is ~9) with decent bounce and grip. I purchased a size 5 in the store after feeling some available options. That was a few months ago, and it has held up great with( fairly light) use on both asphalt and smoother concrete settings. Some competitors have lost grip in some settings, also feeling pretty flat in the bounce department, enough to frustrate the kiddos when dribbling. I used to despise `` rubber '' materials for outdoor balls, but this has been great. The quality motivated me to buy a second in a different color.
