Neither my husband or I wore a bike helmet in the past. This spring I bought an expensive bell helmet mail order and wore it two or three times before leaving it on the shelf for good it felt a little large too me and very uncomfortable. After i got my husband a speedometer this summer we noticed we were often going 20 mph or faster. After my husband came home From a solo ride where he said he was going particularly fast almost 30 mph( yikes) I told him that he should really be wearing a helmet and suggesting he try the helmet I had bought. I noticed my husband returned home from from his next few solo rides with my helmet. I finally asked how he liked wearing a helmet and he told me it was quite comfortable and made him feel much safer. He also asked how i would feel If he wore it while We rode together. My wife has had this helmet for several years. She wore it pretty regularly until this past summer. Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. So, comfort, air circulation and price were the three most important factors in my choice. When you 're 80 years old, style does n't really matter. Color was a minor factor since I live in the AZ desert, and this helmet came in white. This helmet met my 3 main criteria. It's comfortable, although I had to expand the `` liner '' to its fullest using the adjustment knob. I also had to extend the straps to their longest length.( My hat size is 7 3/4) While my rides are early in the morning while the temperature is still in the low 90's, the air circulation seems quite good. Most likely would ’ ve wound up unconscious but instead wound up with a small dent from my visor. I def hit that fence HARD but this helmet held up without much damage. It fits like a glove and I totally forget I 'm wearing it while riding. It's by far not as bulky as the POC helmets and it also feels at least subjectively lighter. [ this is the 2nd one of these i have. the fit is better than other helmets i 've used due to the excellent adjustability. i took a hefty fall earlier this season, and banged my head pretty good. the helmet saved my butt, and took the impact like a champ. other helmets i 've used( and still have, anyone want a free helmet?), would have not performed as this one does. well worth the$$.

[ The Fit system is great and makes for a perfect feet. Super comfortable. Not sure if it's worth the extra money. But if you can afford it then it's great. The Mips component makes it really great as well. Less worries with the big hits and falls.

We do a lot of sledding and snow tubing as a family. Problem is the slope gets icy and fast real quick. I usually make the kids wear their skate helmets. Recently My husband started wear his hockey helmet i was just wearing my thick tosel cap and my parka hood drawn tight. I began to get worried i was going ro get a concussion after watching my husband wipe out and seeing his helmeted head make contact with the frozen snow. I found the giro and it is awesome. protects the ears and head and keeps me warm. I have wiped out once and it kept me safe

My very first time skiing my husband convinced me that I did n't need a helmet. I 'd be on bunny or beginner slopes all day it was a waste of money so I agreed. it was icy, I got too fast I fell and slammed my head on the ground. It was a surreal experience walked away with a concussion. Worst week ever. So I went shopping for a helmet. I tried on several but went for the giro sestriere. It feels very good warm not hot. Comfortable not heavy. I have skied with it for 4 sessions now and love it. Always wear one now.

After trying several different brands and models of helmets, I found the one that fits me perfectly. The helmet is nice and snug and my goggles do not push down into my nose. This was a big selling point for me. Suggestion: take your goggles with you when checking out new helmets!
