I was tired of my stiff- boot ice skates and finally decided to find a comfortable pair of skates, and these absolutely fit the bill! They are padded in the entire boot and are very comfortable. I wear a wome n't size 11 shoe and these fit true to size for me. I 'll admit I 'm a little nervous about the laces being in strap- type material rather than through metal, but I 'm hoping that wo n't be a problem. I l think they are a great value for the price-- and they also look great.

However the lace up closer system left me skeptical. I was afraid to tighten them too much and have a loop pull out. I hope if you ’ re looking for skates you ’ ve done your research about the differences in gliders, figure skates, and hockey skates. These are glider skates for beginners or recreational use that help the skater maintain balance and skate in a forward motion. There ’s a YouTube video on the limitation of these skates when trying to use them as figure skates vs their intended purpose. Compared to rentals, obviously these skates are amazing and extremely comfortable! These are our first skates, so I can ’ t compare them to anything else.

Got these as beginner skates for getting back into skating this year. I 've used 3 different rentals from different skating rinks and this has definitely outperformed all of them. They feel really stable and snug around the ankle( which is why I tend not to like figure skates) and they look great. I would definitely recommend them. Not sure if this is relevant but I 'm about 155 lbs, and use these for leisure ice skating, not triple axels lol. These are obviously not figure skates, I 'm not sure why other reviewers are so confused and expected them to be.

The rental skates at our local ice skating rink left a lot to be desired. They were uncomfortable and the laces were shredded to tatters and nearly impossible to tie properly without destroying the few remaining threads. So, we decided to buy our 7 year old daughter these skates for her Learn to Skate lessons. These have been working out great! They are very comfortable( nice padding around ankle) and work well. We got them sharpened prior to first use at the rink ’s pro shop, of course. I ’ m not saying it ’s all due to the skates, but my daughter is one of the best skaters in her class! We are very happy with this purchase and will buy again when she outgrows this size. For reference, she wears a size 1 sneaker and we bought the size 2 skates which give her a little wiggle room to grow into( we ’ re using thick socks in the meanwhile).
