I was looking for a lightweight hyrdation pack to use while cycling. This rig meets all of my requirements except for one... the process of getting rid of the plastic smell and taste of a new unit. Seems like Camelback could develop a consumer product or provide specific guidance on how to resolve this issue. I found several YouTube videos offering advice but none have worked completely yet. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the product.

I 've been purchasing Camelbak packs going on 16 years and now have at least one designated to each activity I do; running, MTB, Cycling, Hiking, and working outside. I would say I still love the fit and durability of each different style I have( the one I use for working outside is the first Rogue I purchased in 2008), and I 'm really happy Camelbak finally upgraded the bite valve design, but the added magnetic clip placement still needs a more permanent home to affix to on the shoulder strap or chest strap, or something. When the only place to affix it to is somewhere along the adjustable side of the chest strap it's just never in a constant place to mindlessly clip it back in. Otherwise, I 'm still a loyal and satisfied user.

[ I bought this to supplement some of my cycling adventures, which include long distance gravel and MTB events. Sometimes having the extra water on your body gives you a competitive advantage, sometimes it is just necessary to survive. All in all, you ca n't have enough water and snack, but this pack is small and tight enough to give you all you need and no more. Fits great, hassle free, and love it.

I purchased this last spring for my motorcycle trip from Spring Branch, TX up to the Arctic Circle in Alaska and back. It performed flawlessly for the whole 31 days and 11, 525 miles on the back of my MoskoMoto panniers. The little dispensing valve was great, as I could refill small water bottles, brush teeth, splash face and wash hands, wash/rinse dishes, mix cocktails, etc., all right from the bag holder on the back of my bike. I am very happy with the bag and always pleased with MSR products and their Customer Service Dept.

Bought and used on multiday backpack. Overall worked perfectly for what we needed. Con: the elastic tie on one end is not load bearing. Pro: a full bag survived a 6 foot fall onto sharp rocks; no damage at all. The packaging could use directions or link or something with initial cleaning directions. I found them online and no plastic or strange taste at all.

Such a good bag, 100 oz of water is 4x my large yeti and the bag still has so much room I fit in an additional shoulder bag, snacks, some accessories and some green, and still had the half of the largest pouch not taken up by the water pouch. Bag is comfortable and stylish. Reservoir for water is incredibly well thought out and comes apart easily and in enough places that making sure the pack is dry after use is a breeze. Nice quality straps, small footprint and breathable materials means your back isn ’ t burning up. I ’ d say if you ’ re looking for a pack that will last you a long time and hold up as well as serve you well for carrying most if not all of the things you ’ ll need for 1/2 day hikes, you will be incredibly happy with this bag!

Trying to get back to consistent running and going longer distances. I previously had another brand ’s vest that I only used collapsible water bottles in the front pockets and never used a bladder. Always had comfort issues with it though and overall felt like I could never it to fit comfortably. For this vest though, I have run three 10 mile+ runs and find this one very comfortable. I was easily able to adjust this to fit correctly. I find the bladder easy to use and has been good to use with Tailwind Nutrition as my fuel of choice. I like the available storage as well and enjoy having a space for my phone. There is also so much more storage that I could utilize and have barely scratched the surface of. I did carry sunglasses with me on a run and was nice to have them with me even though I didn ’ t ultimately use them. Definitely happy with this purchase and look forward to more long runs with it.

This bag perfect for any and all adventures. It provides just the right amount of space for extra layers, food, and all the necessities. Love how much variety this pack offers! From the trail to the airport, this pack really does it all. I took this pack on a trip to California where I had to pack light, but needed to bring my work laptop and knew I 'd be doing some hiking. It was the perfect pack for the job! It was great for travel and fit everything I needed for a plane ride and easily transitioned to a hike once I got to my destination. It really has the perfect amount of pockets- I love the front `` shove it '' pocket and the interior mesh pocket to keep thing organized. It also has a small pocket on the inside for its rain cover( which is included!) which came in handy while I was on my trip! My favorite feature of the pack is the included water bladder with magnetic connection points that keeps the hydration hose secured to the backpack strap. I 've never had a pack/bladder with this and I 'm obsessed. This pack has very intentional and thoughtful features and I 'm stoked to have it in my gear arsenal. On top of the features, I love how stylish and clean the design on the pack is. This is now a go- to pack for me and I know I 'm going to get a ton of use out of it. Can not recommend this pack enough!

[ I purchased this for a two day camping trip and it was my only water source. I didn ’ t bring any sports bottles since my frame bag took up the whole space. The backpack has a lot of nice features( sunglass pouch, key ring, and several side pockets) I especially liked the magnetic clip for the straw. I also used the helmet clips to hold my helmet when not in use. The only thing I think it was missing was a cover for the whole thing just in case it started to rain while you ’ re on a ride. I was afraid I was going to have back pain from all the weight but it was well balanced. I ’ m very impressed!

[ This pack made all the difference! Beyond happy with my pro deal sponsorship. I have been using a cheap and poor fitted pack for years and I never realized how big of a difference this would make for my work.
5
Completed the Everest Base Camp Trek a few weeks ago. Out of 8 people in our group there were 5 of us wearing Osprey packs. I had the Scarab 30 and loved it. We hiked in sun and rain, hot and cold, through wood and over rock fields. This pack was on my back every day every step of the way. The bladder was full with an extra bottle of water on the side at the waist belt and the bag was full with essentials for weather swap outs and everything i needed to get from A to B and survive without my big duffel. It never chafed my shoulders or waist, felt great on my back and did n't sweat me up by allowing air to flow around it. It was exactly the right choice. The design of the bladder makes it very easy to fill and shove back in its home. the only thing i would change or add would be a cover over the drinking port. We were dropping our packs in a lot of places, on trails in Tea houses, coffee houses and different temples, everywhere and the drinking port always ended up on the ground. Would of been nice to have some sort of cover.

I am able to carry a pump, extra tube, multi tool as well as an energy bar, keys and smart phone without the pack seeming over loaded or bulky. Traditionally not a fan of riding with packs but this works so well and is great for staying hydrated. Great for the price. I 'm a hydration pack fanatic because I use them several times a week. This one is quite good. The good: Really well made and durable materials. It is a really versatile hydration pack that can be used for hiking, cycling, etc. It has some internal pockets in the main compartment that really distributes your stuff and the weight well and keeps the pack well balanced. The back pads are nice and plush. The straps are stout. The external stuff pockets on the side/front are very useful. I like how the waist straps tuck away if you are not using them. Trekking pole straps/compression straps are nice. The pack is really streamlined, fits snug against the body, and is very stable for activity. The stuff that can be improved: The hydration bladder and bite valve are not the best, but they do function decent and for the price it is not a big deal. It would be nice to have some sort of velcro on the large external stuff pocket just to secure your stuff a little.

I am currently using the bag for the Camino de Santiago. 158km in. Very handy pockets and space. I bought the L/XL and should have bought a smaller size so the hip belt will be tighter. I used this pack on a winter 7 miles, 3, 200' elevation hike breaking trail most of the way. I packed from the bottom up: belay parka in a compression sack, burly goretex shell jacket, 2 one liter nalgene bottles, extra gloves, med/ emergency kit( about 1L in size), 2, 500 calories of snacks, nanopuff jacket. Two headlamps and keys in the internal zip pocket, map and microspikes in the external zip pocket. Two 16oz waterbottles in each side pocket for 3L total, neither side waterbottle fell out while butt sliding down the trail. Samsung Galaxy S22 fit nicely in either chest pocket, chapstick in the elastic pockets. 25 '' snowshoes on the S/M pack were easy to put on a take off with a sling. I did n't use the zip pocket next to the waterbottle holder but it definitely seems like it could be useful. Used the double sternum strap( very comfortable!) to clip my gloves to the bottom and tuck them under the top so no snow fell in. I carried the pack around for 15 minutes with 30lbs of rice and beans in the back, it carries the weight well but you can feel items through the back if you do n't pack right. No soreness the day after hiking. I plan to take this out on longer day hikes- presidential range, great range where I might want extra gear but do n't want a 40+L pack. No signs of wear after a single hike getting snagged by trees, seems like it will be durable. Sizing: I typically wear my packs at 18 '' torso, the S/M mens is a perfect fit, I had about 1 '' extra waistband with a 28 '' waist. I bought the Deuter SpeedLite 28 womens but it was terribly tiny all over, this is everything I wanted that pack to be and better. Overall: Very well organized, lots of attachment points, lightweight, comfortable, and moves well with the wearer. Well worth the price.

[ Excellent service. Thank you so much. Your people are such a joy to work with. However the product zipper has a latent defect that has not been corrected. The zipper doesn ’ t hold up. Love the size of this pack, it's ideal for 2 people, on a 2- 15 mile hike. Holds water, snack and safety basics for just about any day adventure. Bonus, the orange is high- viz, and makes me easy to find on the ski slopes. Fits both my wife's and my frame, what's not to like?

Great pack. Comfortable to wear. Storage is well thought out and very handy. The only gripe I would have is the 12 liter size does n't hold much. Which is completely solvable by ordering the 20l or 24l size. Great if you 're going for minimal gear. Size/weight.

` I am a 50 year old occasional hiker who has n't had a new pack since college. Just spent 3 days hiking in the Catskills with this pack on my back for 7- 8 hours a day and I love it. Plenty of space and super comfortable. I barely noticed I was even carrying a pack, had zero shoulder or back strain, and like the frame that allows for some airflow through the back area- a big plus hiking in 80+ degree weather. Never had to use the internal rainfly, but that was definitely a selling point for me. Highly recommend!

[ I love this pack. I bought it to replace an older osprey pack that I completely wore out. I love the rigid stays on this backpack so that it sits upright when you put it on the ground and the air pocket helps keep it much cooler, a total bonus when you 're hiking in the hot and humid Smokies.

[ I have n't had the opportunity to take it out on a hike yet. That said, I love how it fits, how light it is and the frame structure, which I 'm sure will make it more comfortable and breath better when hiking on hot days. I 'll be taking it on a 2 day hike in Joshua Tree National Park in about 6 weeks.

The Hikelite 18 is incredible for travel, day hikes, daily commuting via bike, and more. It fits under an airplane seat, has hydration bladder capability for day hikes, includes a chest and waist strap to secure the bag to you when biking, and it is the perfect size. I can not recommend this pack enough.
5
Green G.
Someone wrote that the Hikelite is lacking a handle loop. IDK, mine has one. As I do with all my backpacks, I put a large S- biner on it, so I can hang it, it even hooks over 40 cm thick stall doors so I do n't have to set my pack down. I also riveted thick vinyl sheeting on bottom so that it can be set down on icky bathrooms or muddy ground..... Osprey take note! Bottom of packs should have waterproof vinyl sheet!

[ This thing is awesome! Super simple and light weight. Pretty water resistant as well. I use it as my go to and have been caught in some pretty good rain storms and it kept everything dry. The back pad does n't hold too much heat and the taller more narrow shape of the pack does n't feel like you have a bunch of stuff. I 've used it for hikes, weekend trips and as day to day bag. 10/10 would recommend.

Garret P
This is a very good, very simple bag. It has a small outside pocket on the top and main compartment. I have used it for a few hikes and a few 20+ mile runs with a bladder inside( it does have a loop to keep the bladder upright). Good bag for the money.

I 've used this for mountain runs and sport climbing. It took me a while to discover the hose pass- through for the hydration bladder. The pack is mostly one giant space which has plusses and minuses. I wish it had another zippered pouch on the outside for snacks. I 've kept them in the outer stretch pockets which works well enough I guess.

[ What I really like about this bag was that is small but can really fit a bunch of things in it. I loved how it had a tiny pocket on top of the bag. The straps are wonderful and do n't dig into my shoulders when in use, and the waist belt in the mid section helps when I am cycling to remain snug. I know that I get a lot of use out of this bag.

[ Love this lightweight backpack! It would be great for backpacking/hiking, but we mostly use it for travel our with our sons for camp. It's nice to have a smaller backpack for the kids and something that is n't as daunting as a large backpack that topples them over! Love the water bottle holder on the side too!

[ I took this bag to our local fourth of July festival where cookers and big bags were forbidden. There are 2 side pickets for drinks, a large compartment inside and a smaller zipper compartment on top by the handle for ease of putting keys or cellphone away swiftly and then easily retrievable. The bag is well made and attractive.

I hiked across Spain for 500 miles over 35 days carrying this pack. I had NO issues and it was so comfortable. I carried about 13- 15 lbs with a water bladder. Only wish the water bladder nozzle had a cover as every time I set the pack down my nozzle touched the ground- good for my immune system! I just feel so grateful for my pack. One of your sales people on the phone recommended it after I tried several other models and sizes. Could n't be happier. One of the zippers broke before my trip but it was n't key. I will call regarding this. Otherwise- highly recommend this pack. So light, so comfy, so kind to my body after a long haul. Thank you.

[ This Speed Lite bag is fantastic and I love it. The quality on this thing is top notch from the stitching to the buckles to the straps, you can tell that this is a bag that will last. [ This bag is great for anyone doing backpacking and traveling and camping. This is a very large bag that will hold so much stuff. It will hold everything you need to go on a trip. I like how light it is but also how sturdy it can be. You can pack a lot and stuff and stuff stuff in here and it's still not super heavy. It comes with plenty of pockets and spots to fit things. Everything can have its own place. I love how easy it is to strap on and how the straps stay in place once you start wearing it. This bag does n't slide around on your back at all and I like that because with moving around a lot bags tend to slide around. I like how easy it is to clean and store when not in use!!

[ I love to go hiking so I was super excited to get this Speed Lite 30 bag by Deuter! The bag itself is well made, the quality is great! I am so impressed with just how lightweight this bag is! Even with all my gear in it, it is still so easy to carry. I can move so much more freely with this bag. Wearing the bag is super comfortable, the straps are nice and padded. The straps are easily adjustable to fit both my partner and I. The bag stays secure with the wrap around fins. With my old hiking gear, my back was always bothering by the time I was done my hike but with this bag, I have absolutely no discomfort. I love the pockets on the shoulder straps, it is super convenient to have my essentials easily accessible. The inside of the bag is large and also has more pockets. The bag offers plenty of space for all my hiking supplies. The fabric is made with 100% recycled materials. I love that this bag comes with a lifetime guarantee that if for any reason the bag is damaged, it will be fixed or replaced if needed. If you are a hiker, I highly recommend this bag! This would also make a fabulous gift!
