Almost Perfect. Good quality, fit, and style in a lightweight rain jacket. Its only shortcoming is lack of a two way zipper which would be extremely useful in a jacket of this type.

I am 5 ’ 9 ” at 175lbs with an average build. The medium is not too loose and feels great!! The sleeves are tad long but not bad at all. I had the zipper catch a couple times over a past couple days, but that ’s me rushing. The cut works very well with my height. The only thing that bothers me is the jacket pitches a tent by the stitching in the midsection of the jacket when you sit down.

[ It ’s exactly the jacket I had in mind. Sizing and length very true to form. The front venting is great and these can work as two additional pockets. This jacket has ended all desire to purchase anything else. Great quality and build. It ’s kept me warm and dry on chilly pow days and the vents keep me cool on the sunnier days. The oversized hood goes over my helmet and keeps me very cozy. Easily the best jacket I ’ ve invested in. It is a little big but that does allow me to layer comfortably while still maintaining mobility. I ’ d prefer this over a tighter fit and baggy is steezier anyway. I am not a skier but I wanted a jacket that would keep me warm and dry in very cold temperatures and winter precipitation. The day after I bought this I took a long walk along a country road wearing this jacket over a t- shirt with temperatures in the mid- 20s( F) that soon saw precipitation in the form of wind- driven light snow and sleet. I was amazed at the cozy, comfortable feel this jacket provided. I will never second- guess this purchase- love this jacket!

Good winter and low temp jacket. Its longer and a tad baggy/active since its made for riding, so take your normal size and layer underneath for really cold days. It 's super comfortable and will keep you warm and dry. Hood is definitely a little too Raph, it 's made for riding with a helmet on, so its too big for casual wear but I knew that would be the case for any snowboard jacket so it does n't bother me.

Really nice soft shell, super stretchy, the hood is particularly well designed. My main critiques are its fit is a little on the tight and smaller side compared to what i 'm used to from MH, and i wish it had a chest zipper, as I find that quite useful in jackets.

Patrick M
Definitely a jacket for specific shoulder season weather: colder, semi- dry days. It 's a warm jacket that sadly does n't have pit zips to let heat out when the hiking/climbing gets going. I had to fully unzip the front and leave it open. Would n't use it as a rain jacket. Could be used as a light snow jacket. I 've been using it as a springtime( and fall) belay jacket and it works great. If you get caught in a drizzle the repellancy works shedding water and wind. Love the soft, stretch fabric that does n't restrict moment and allows me to wear just a t- shirt underneath if need be. Big pockets all with good zippers and it packs into its own pocket. The hand cuffs are interesting and remind me of cycling jackets that are longer on top to keep water off the back your hands. It has stretch band cuff on the underside along wrist. So far i have n't had issue with them, but i worry the elastic will one day no longer be tight and the cuff could be baggy and useless. Maybe they should have stuck with classic Velcro straps to adjust cuff tightness-- only time will tell. Overall i like the jacket as my backup for when i do n't expect bad weather but need something just in case. A great jacket for walking around town too.

I wore the Men ’s MicroGravity Ascentshell Jacket by Outdoor Research for 19 days on the John Muir Trail, hiking SOBO from Lyell Canyon to Whitney Portal. It was in my pack from start to finish—through wind, potential snow forecasts, high elevation chill, and the chance of mountain rain. Here ’s what stood out: Weight- to- Performance Ratio: At just over 14 oz, it ’s light enough to justify space in a thru- hiker ’s pack, especially when ounces count. I didn ’ t need it often, but when I did—especially on Whitney summit morning—it delivered. Layered above my puffy, the Ascentshell acted as a critical wind- blocking barrier in sub- freezing temps. Breathability& Comfort: The AscentShell fabric breathes better than many hard shells I ’ ve worn. It doesn ’ t feel like a plastic bag. You get protection without overheating—great for active movement in alpine conditions. The jacket also layers well and doesn ’ t bunch up under a pack. Packability& Versatility: It compresses well and fit seamlessly into my packing system. On a trail like the JMT, where the weather is unpredictable but weight is critical, it strikes a great balance of performance and packability. And while I didn ’ t get hit with a downpour, I have no doubt the waterproof zippers and solid build would handle it. The Takeaway: The MicroGravity Ascentshell isn ’ t just another rain jacket—it ’s a mountain- ready shell that performs when and where it matters. It may have spent more time in my pack than on my shoulders, but it earned its keep. I ’ d bring it again on any long- distance trail, especially when weather is uncertain and performance matters. Highly recommend for thru- hikers, alpine trekkers, and serious backpackers looking for a lightweight, breathable shell that won ’ t quit when conditions change.

I live in the NWT, Canada where temperatures can reach as low as- 50C. more often than not i find myself reaching for this jacket( layering during colder temperatures) for most of my winter activities! This jacket has great waterproofing and breathability& very good and breaking the chill from the wind. i would recomend this jacket to anyone who is active in the winter at a range of temperatures as it is very easy to layer up underneath. 10/10

One of my favorite down jackets in my collection. It has great fill and added material in the arms and shoulders for water resistance and toughness. Not as slim and tapered as patagonia but a great fit and true to size. It worked great for a two week trip through Europe in January. This is a great everyday jacket for the winter months!
5

This is great three season jacket on its own it also pairs well as insulation layer under any shell. From wearing in town to sleeping in it this has served me well. The waterproof shoulders is great when setting up camp in light snow or rain and not get soaked through
5

used this at work during- 30°f temps with layers and kept me plenty warm. the thicker material on the shoulders protected the jacked from a heavy weighted survey vest and the jacket has held up very well for extended periods outside in the woods, may be a bit warm for vigorous activity but perfect for normal use in cold temps.

I received this jacket in black for Christmas as a gift. It is super warm and windproof with cozy lined pockets and I like the chest pocket for my phone. The fit is comfy, not bulky, and it does not ride up on my long torso, making it a superb layer under waders. It is extremely light and compressible in its own pocket. I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

This jacket served me well for 10 years of steady use every winter/fall and I finally replaced it. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. In summary, this is a durable, lightweight, packable and versatile jacket that does its job in the back- country but transitions seamlessly to the front- country. Highly recommended.

I have a number of OR gear/jackets/fleece. For reference I 'm 5'10 '' and weigh 215 average build so I typically wear an XL in OR and L in some other brands depending on fit. This jacket is very well made and everything fits to be expected except at the waist. It 's very small compared to my other OR jackets which surprises me. It is warm but the Storm color is n't accurately represented in the pictures. It 's a much lighter grey color in person.

I wear this on my windshieldless moto going 70- 89 mph and it does the job on windblocking. When it rained, it keep deflecting rain. I wear a merino thermal, my casual, moto protective shirt, and my thermal heated liner, which I do n't have to turn on the heated liner at these temps because of the windblocking and having gear insulate the heat inside. I love this field jacket; my favorite jacket. I want to buy a more expensive jacket here, but this one was beautiful to pass up. Its big for sure for my 5' 5 stature at Medium, but I have full range of motion with all my gear on underneath and that 's awesome. Buy it! worth it!

Great jacket for those of us living in the Southeast US. was able to wear comfortably down to around 50 degrees F with only a lightweight cotton flannel shirt underneath. You can go much colder if you have a suitable insulation or base layer underneath. I bought in dusk for a classic style yet unique colorway that stands out among your standard olive or khaki surplus jackets. The G1000 softens up a bit with wear. Supposedly water resistant, but I would caution against wearing if more than a light sprinkle is in the forecast.

Devin
Nothing on this jacket is disappointing. The hood actually rolls back up into the collar. It is great against the wind and rain while on bike. The tie downs on the inside keep all the heat inside. While I have n't used the pockets much yet I know they 'll be great for gloves and hats this winter.

I wanted a warm jacket, and this is exactly what it is. I live in a cold weather state, when it ’s 5 below I can throw this on with just a shirt underneath. It stays below my bottom, had a great hood, plenty of pocket space, and easily adjusted cuffs at the sleeves.

Keeps me warm in the 30s easily with just a normal shirt and a sweater. With real layers I have been able to walk approx 30 minutes round trip in the low 20s and strong winds. It ’s very warm and also gives you that psychological warmth boost of a fat, cozy puffer. The length is just right if you need a big outermost layer but don ’ t want a full parka length. I am normally between S and M for most things and a S easily fits me even with a chunky sweater. The two internal mesh pockets are clutch.

This is a quality rain jacket- durable and I love the look. The kangaroo pocket adds something different from your average rain jacket and looks great! This is the perfect jacket for hiking as the front pouch has a secret zipper pocket to store keys and bars for the day. I ’ ve had the chance to use it through several storms already and stayed dry every time! I found that it fits true to size.

Meowy McMeowMeow
I wore this the other day in 25+ mph wind gusts. I wore it over my flannel shirt and it was comfortable enough to pull over my existing clothing choice. The jacket was very easy to pull over existing clothes. As a bonus, it ’s also easy to take off and it doesn ’ t rip off your existing clothing when you pull it over your head. The jacket is a bit wider, but that ’s so it can fit over your existing clothes. The bottom has string you can tie up to cinch the jacket for a tighter and more wind- resistant fit so it won ’ t flop around in the wind gusts. The hood also has a string for the same purpose. The jacket held up pretty good in the wind. I ’ d imagine if it was much colder it wouldn ’ t be that great. But it was in the 50s with a lot of wind. It appears to be a good choice for a rain situation, but was unable to test that out. I would definitely recommend this jacket for hiking, camping, or any even on the golf course.
5
Theamester23
The blue color on this jacket is very appealing and not too flashy. This jacket has a little bit of structure and white to it, but not too much that you feel like it is bulky and you can not move. This jacket is able to reduce wind cutting through to you and is water resistant.

[ I bought this for my Dad for Christmas and he really likes it! It ’s his first down coat and he couldn ’ t believe how much warmer he was out in the cold. The black isn ’ t too shiny and the length is perfect. The fit is a bit slimmer near the hips( he ’s about 5 ’ 9 ” and 150lbs), so a tad more shape would be good. [ I came across this jacket when searching for a synthetic alternative to my down jacket for backpacking. And while it 's maybe just a little too heavy and bulky for my ultralight goals, I bought it because I liked it so much in general( tried in on in a store, bought it on Mossejaw). And now I wear it anytime the weather 's a little chilly. It 's warm, a great fit-- not too tight, not too baggy-- and the material just feels great. I 've also had it out in light rain for half an hour or so, and nothing soaked in. So it really is at least a little water repellent. Only con is, I do n't like the double, left- handed zipper, but I 'll get used to it. And who knows, maybe I 'll end up bringing it on a backpacking trip, since I like it so much. Glad I bought it during the big sale!

Amazing. Such a great jacket; it ’s lightweight, breathable, good for active use, feels extremely well made, and has a great fit. At 6 ’ 1, 165lbs, the medium felt tailored. The octa lining is done fantastically. Pertex and octa are both some of the best durable, lightweight, and breathable materials and pair amazingly well. Construction is some of the best I ’ ve seen; very heavy duty dual use zipper that works like butter is amazing to see on such a lightweight garment. Dual chest pockets also clutch and super practical if wearing harnesses. Hand pockets have sync and keychain holders, and feel great to use in a more casual environment. Octa is like super synthetic cashmere, extremely well insulating. This jacket I think can work in any environment from below freezing to upper 60 ’s with proper layering. Simply one of the best jackets of all time imo.

[ This jacket is very well made which you would expect for the price point and brand quality. It is a light weight coat that fits well even though I am 6- 5 and 225. The body length stops at the waist and sleeves are long enough to where it fits comfortably even though it is not a “ tall ” cut XL coat. With the roll up tuck away hood it is nice to know that the coat will protect you should the weather take a turn for the worse. Good all around light weight fair weather coat.

[ This is n't really a rain jacket per se, but it is water resistant enough that it can be used for a short duration in even very heavy rain without much bleed through. The build quality and fit- and- finish are top notch, as you would expect for a jacket in this price range, and it is very breathable, with multiple vents. The only real gripe I have with it is that I wish it was a few inches longer.

[ The jacket I recently bought is DARK GREY in color, which looks more black. I feel better and I like it better. The workmanship, design, and fabric of the jacket are all perfect. There 's a reason you see so many really favorable reviews of this jacket. It checks all the boxes. Packable, super light, blocks the wind, repels mist or light rain and looks great. Pull it out of your kit at a windy summit or the top of a pitch. If you are slim and athletic, it fits true to your usual size. I have a paunchy `` dad bod '', so I had to go up one size for midriff room. You wo n't have to, though. I also have the lined hoody version of this garment, and like it equally for belaying or just spectating at the base of the crag.

I have been using multiple Kor products for a while and added this one to my closet recently. It has many uses but what I use it for is early morning hikes and rides. It adds just enough warmth over a base layer to reduce the bite of morning chill. The fabric is crazy stretchy and soft, and while I have n't been rough on this one, my insulated Kor Strata is a ski layer I have hammered all season with no issue. This thing is crazy packable too so it makes it easy to shove into a pocket or my lumbar pack.

Backpacking requires the forethought to bring only what you need as weight becomes a significant factor with extended trips. This Helium jacket is a game changer when it comes to weather protection. The weightless feel and bombproof protection it provides makes it a companion on not only backpacking trips, but day hikes, after dinner walks, bike rides and simply dinner outings when weather is sketchy. This is easily one of the best light weight puffy for moderate activity. It handles cold weather exceptionally well for how light it is. The stretch baffling makes movement incredibly natural. I have worn this jacket while bouldering on some colder days and I was impressed by how well it performed. The material is durable and holds up to abuse.

Excellent layering piece or wear alone, warm, comfartable and superb stretch ... I use it daily and have also used it as a mid layer while snowboarding. ... This one is super

[ Needed a replacement to my north face nano puff and this is an upgrade. Perfect to wear on its own or as a midlayer during winter. I also like the flexibility and stretch around the shoulders. It will be my go to puffy when I go backpacking in the high sierra this summer. Hoping it holds up as long or longer than my nf nano.

[ As far as the jacket goes I love it so far. Great fit. I ’ m 5 ’ 10, 215 pounds very active. I fit in a large perfect. Fits the shoulders and arms well which is where most jackets fail me. Body fits nice but is not too tight. In regards to customer service, I had to exchange for a different size. The customer chat was initially very unhelpful and unpleasant but ended up processing the exchange.

I am genuinely impressed with the Black Diamond Factor Hoody. It 's noticeably thicker than the Coefficient Hoodie, yet it remains surprisingly lightweight with a good amount of stretch, making it both comfortable and functional. One of the standout features for me is the logo on the chest; it 's stylish and adds a nice touch to the overall design. I 've used this hoody as a mid- layer under my Black Diamond Access Hoody as well as under my Recon Insulated Jacket, and in both scenarios, it performed flawlessly, providing the perfect balance of warmth and breathability. Overall, it 's a great jacket for layering, offering both style and performance. Highly recommended!

Fit, fabric weight, and functionality was just as expected. I am 5'- 8 '' 140lbs and the small fits perfect for an inner layer or close layer on warm days. Hood fits perfectly under a helmet. When the hood is worn without a helmet it turns with my head so I never feel like I am having my view cut off.

Great layer for skiing. I wear this over a wool base for backcountry. Good wind protection and breathable. Love that the hood fits comfortably under ski helmet.

I have a few bits of Fjallraven kit, including some I donated to others. Examples being the Skogso Padded, Vardag Lite Padded and this the Expedition Mid Winter. Such a piece of kit and so warm. Between this and the Skogso Padded Jacket I would happily recommend both. Looking forward to expanding my Fjallraven collection.

LOVE this jacket! I 'm 6' 2 and bought XL for extra movement and layering when snowboarding. Pros: The synthetic fill is the best I 've ever felt, I honestly thought it was down fill. I love that it stays warm and holds its lofty puffiness when in wet snow conditions. My other Sitka down jacket loses its loft quickly in the arms and back when I start perspiring from a morning of hiking or snowboarding. But 's it 's so soft a cozy. I often just wear a t- shirt or thin base layer under it if I 'm just staring around a camp fire. It 's very warm and the hand and chin backings are super soft. Cons: My only complaint is that it does n't have a well placed hood draw string for windy conditions. The single draw string on the hood is more a retention string for side to side movement of your head. And the outer fabric is very delicate, I know its gon na snag and tear on a tree branch one of these days.... I personally wish it was a little bit thicker like on my wife 's Expedition down jacket.

The description is a bit off. This thing is huge! Quite heavy and very bulky. That said, it ’s by far the warmest jacket I own. I love it. Very warm and cozy. Fantastic belay parka for cold weather. The synthetic insulation is a game changer. No more down feathers pocking through. Very lofty and warm.

[ As an outdoor enthusiast, weight is a critical factor in my gear selection, and the Men 's GORE- TEX® Mitre Peak Waterproof Jacket( 2024) delivers impressively in this regard. This jacket offers exceptional waterproofing and breathability without unnecessary bulk, making it a perfect companion for alpine climbing, hiking, or any technical outdoor activity. One of its standout features is the highly functional pocket design—the spacious, elevated pockets remain accessible even while wearing a harness, which is a game- changer for climbers and mountaineers. The adjustable helmet- compatible hood provides excellent coverage without limiting visibility, ensuring protection against harsh weather. Additionally, the underarm ventilation zippers allow for great airflow, preventing overheating during intense activity. Overall, this jacket balances durability, weather protection, and lightweight performance perfectly. If weight matters to you as much as it does to me, this is an excellent choice!

Highly breathable jacket with a great athletic fit. Breathes better than any GTX jacket I 've ever had. I bought a second one to keep in my work vehicle I was so impressed by the first one.

[ Marmot has a long history of making high quality outerwear. And this history continues with Mitre peak Jacket. I have been a fan of Marmot since my first jacket( the Alpine Light Jacket) which has been with me for most of my outdoor adventures into the backcountry and high altitude peak. I still remember when the 10, 000 meter parka was the one of the best pieces of equipment a mountaineer could have for protection at very cold, high altitudes. Not sure if they still make that. Back to the review of this jacket. I like the fact that it is does not come with a liner so this makes it more versatile for layer. Not sure of the durability for and longevity as the material is lighter and therefor repeated use with pack straps and harnesses may wear stress areas out as they are not reinforced. I have yet to find rainy enough day where the jacket has not performed. Hopefully this waterproofing with continue over the life time of the jacket. My biggest issue now with the latest products from all makers( Patagonia, The North Face, etc) is the delamination of the gortex material after a few years of use. Hopefully they have resolved this issue. Looking forward to many years of use with this jacket. Check in with me in a few years, I will let you know how this performed

[ High Quality Jacket. Light weight. I 'm 5- 11, 235lbs. 48 chest and XXL fits perfect. Enough room for a thick layer underneath. The only bad is the Gore- Tex material feels a little crunchy but nothing serious. Will definitely wear on my next summit. Paid half of the original price too! Totally Rocks!
