I just spent 3 weeks in the Bahamas with this sandal. It performed exceptionally well. I spent time at Atlantis water park, went on 4 fishing charter, scrambled on very jagged limestone reef, walked miles around Nassau, etc The sole is very sticky, even when wet. The sole is also very tough. I hiked on some very nasty, sharp, pointy, jagged limestone reef with no issues. I was very impressed with how well these performed.

First things first, you will want to go up half a size. I have heard this many times snd it is true. I am a size 7 1/2 exactly and the 8 fits like a glove. The width is perfect for me and the comfort is amazing. Great with shorts or jeans, and perfect if you have to get your feet wet to “ retrieve ” your retriever. Also a great deck shoe on the boat. I was not payed or compensated for this review, but let ’s face it, I should have been!

Bought these for a trip down the Colorado river in the Grand Canton. The shoes were great for 6 days in the raft as well as river/creek walking and day hikes over serious rocks. I own multiple models of OluKai leather flip flops and they are all well crafted and a big step above most other flips. The few pairs I own all needed some wear to soften up and mold to my feet; once they do break- in, they are comfortable and supportive. I was n't even a flip flow person, until I discovered OluKai. I thought there would not be enough support, but they provide adequate or above arch support. The Mea Ola, Hiapo and Mekila models I own are all made with high quality leather uppers, leather- covered footbed and have a leather wrapped outsole with rubber- like pods that provide good grip even in wet conditions. They 're all comparable in terms of quality and comfort as well as stylish good looks. For flip flops, the OluKais are among the best- looking ones around. One issue I noted with the Mekila models that differs form the others is the stitching on the insole is a little rough against bare skin, which might be a little irritating. In the other OluKai models, the stitching is not as pronounced and the leather insole actually feels very nice against the feet. This might be a little nit- picky, but it is noticeable. Still, it's not enough to take away from the overall quality and comfort. Also, please note, the OluKai leather sandals mentioned above, including the Mekila, all /run somewhat small; order the next size up for a better fit.

These are all new for OluKai in many ways. The footbed has a softer and more pliable rubber giving the entire flip flop a higher impact resistance over any terrain. The ride is almost luxurious like a custom orthotic. It has a high arch and the shoe is built a bit wider. I would say they run 1/2 size larger. I wear a size 11. 5 in running shoes and I purchased a size 11 in the Ahi Kai and are perfect. Highly recommend these as you sporty/water do- it- all flip flops. They look high end enough for nighttime but sporty enofor the beach.

They are super grippy. The OHANA Palua is popular for a reason. I own many Olukai flip flops and have become keen on what separates the line up. The OHANA Palua has a softer and more pliable foot bed over the Ulele. It's even more squishy than the new Ahi Kai. The straps are also more relaxed over the top of your foot. The arch height and construction is exactly the same as the Ulele. The OHANA is slightly wider than the Ulele but not drastically. The Ohana feels a bit more luxurious and I like the coral inspired grip. These will last a few years. Sizing is tricky with Olukai. I wear a 11. 5 in a running shoe but the way they size their sandals I wear a OluKai men's 11 if I want them a bit loose and size 10 if I want a more fitted but length. Size 10 is only. 50 of a inch shorter than a 11. This one I went with a size 11 and they are a tad big but wont requier and break in like a size 10 would. I own about them all and the Ohona family might be my favorite do- it- all sandal from vacations to daily wear.
