I 've been looking for a stool, chair or something that would pack small enough to fit in my pack but that I could also use to actually get work done while sitting. ... and let me tell you why. I 've been on the hunt for an affordable, lightweight, rollable and packable stadium seat/chair for canoe camping. You ca n't see it in their picture, but you can remove the padding and the metal bars( which are wrapped in padding and different fabrics) that are on the sides to help it keep its shape. It's almost like they knew folks might want to remove some pieces, so they made it so you can easily take them out and put them back in. I 'm returning to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in a couple weeks and I 'm sick of going and having nothing to lean on at camp, sometimes logs but it's still uncomfortable- my back just hurts every trip. I was able to remove the back and bottom cushions and the bottom bars. I found that to keep the chair usable I had to leave the back bars in. The construction seems pretty solid, and if something happened I think I could mend it easily with some fabric thread and a good needle. Very elated to stumble upon this option, as there seems to be very little out there for what I was looking for.

The seat installs easily. Beware that if your top tube is heavily tapered, the rods won ’ t lift the seat high enough to clear the rear tire. We couldn ’ t install it on my wife ’s COOP DRT 1. 1 but it works great on my Cannondale Trail 2. Lookup pictures online and you ’ ll see what I mean about how low the bracket had to mount on her bike. Our daughter loves it. We got it because we have other Burley equipment and were upgrading from a front- mounted to a rear- mounted setup as our daughter got older and hence, taller. With a helmet on she can turn her head comfortably. We opted for the recliner thinking she may sleep in it, but she hasn ’ t yet. Hopefully someday she does. We rode green singletrack( El Dorado at Post Canyon, Hood River, Oregon) with it and it handled it. Bottom line, you ’ re going to like it.

I was between these and the teardrop West Marine ones and I am so happy I bought these. We got 3 for the boat three summers ago and the kids( and adults) all love them. We clean them and bring them in for the winter and the kids use them more than the couch! Big Joe sells a refill bag and we recently refilled them so they were stuffed again. You could also use the refill to add more of “ beans ” to make it fuller if you prefer. The West Marine ones are not refillable so once they lose shape they are garbage.
