I use this heater with a large 4 man shanty and it keeps it heated. First trip out this year was in sub - zero weather and we stayed warm all day long. One small tank of propane lasts about 3 - 4 hrs on low setting. The only time I ’ ve used medium setting is to cook and have never used the high setting. I highly recommend for the fisherman who likes to travel light.

This will work well for you, if you realize how to use Cast Iron. It will heat slowly with the first pie and then probably burn if you do n't pay close attention. After that they will come out of the fire perfectly toasted and fairly fast. We had one as kids for camping with our family. It lasted over 40 years and one of my siblings has it now. I bought one for our family, so we could enjoy the same memories! Not very expensive either!

So when looking for a pie iron for motorcycle camping I bought a Rome pie iron for more than 2x price of the Coghlan ’s version, but found the 28 ” handles don ’ t detach so they wont fit in my panniers. This smoker adds the extra smoke I was looking for on my meat. I smoked a few pork butts and they all turned out amazing. The smoke ring was awesome. The meat was tender and juicy. The room in this smoker is twice the space I had on my MZG 24 smoker. The temperature stayed consistent and was always within 3 - 5 degrees off set temperature. The vertical chamber is great for not losing heat. When I would open the lid to my MZG 24 smoker, the temperature would drop ten degrees or more. I do n't get but a couple degree drop when I open the door to the XXL Pro. Probably due to the vertical design. I would say the smoke box is also great addition to adding extra smoke at whatever level you desire. The Wi - Fi, blue tooth controller works well. I really like this smoker.

My XXL has been in use now for several months. There no significant issues with assembly. The door fits and swings well and easily. The temperature controller works as advertised. The smoke box does the job easily and neatly. Pork Butts, Pork Ribs, Chicken, Turkey, Beef of various cuts have all turned out delicious. It is supremely easy to use. The wheels make it easy to move around, thought the legs tend to vibrate and chatter a bit on uneven pavement. The pellet hopper is huge and easy to fill and monitor. Even the WiFi connection/controller works well. Nice unit.

[ I ’ ve always used a titanium or stainless steel set up for expeditions, but this kit ’s utility was apparent right away for sea kayaking expeditions. It ’s impressive packability is so much easier to cram into small hatches and any small voids. I really appreciate this factor the most. I wondered how it would hold up to my typical backpacking/kayaking stoves. A full, high burn on my usual stove( I use the MSR Pocket Rocket) caused no issues - it was a very quick boil for a full pot, actually, and the blue flame beneath the pot didn ’ t come anywhere close to the suggested max flame extent. I was kind of surprised that the instruction text on the bottom of the pot was not even affected. When you add in the two plates, two cups, and two bowls included in this kit - and it still packs as small(!) - the total weight is very backpack friendly especially if you are traveling with a partner or group. If I am solo, I would just take a small portion of the kit, and it is very comparable to my titanium gear ’s weight( but far more packable.) I honestly wasn ’ t sure when I first saw this kit that I would swap it out for my metal gear, but testing it out has sold me on it earning a place in my kayak programs. One ask: if they added or sold a snap lid for the bowl, I would love to make it my snack/lunch carrier in my day hatch as a swap for the Tupperware I usually use.

Long honest review here and I want to start this review off with this is my very first full sized griddle. I have always just used the Camp Chef Sidekick Griddle on the Woodwind Smoker. Before buying I put in my time researching and looking at reviews and I am so happy I went with The Gridiron 36. This thing is sturdy, easy to use, and just looks badass. I am about 2 months in and keep saying I ’ m glad I stuck with Camp Chef equipment. First it arrived in perfect condition and was easy to put together. Everything about it is fantastic. The lid is awesome and love how it ’s connected for easy on and off. The four burners and ignition is great and have not had a single issue. Extremely quiet when I turn it on. The shelves on the side are useful for everyday cooking and yes the one above the propane tank doesn ’ t fold down but that ’s okay I don ’ t fold them down to begin with even with the cover. Grease management is a breeze and love that it ’s in the front and easy access from underneath. I have the cover and griddle mat which I strongly suggest. IF you want some kind of critique or one thing I wish was different. I wish the line for the propane was not directly up front and in the rear, kind of hidden, but that ’s purely cosmetic and does not affect a thing. I ’ m over it already. My buddies have a popular competitor griddle and it just looks small and not as well built as the Gridiron 36. Next up is buying some of the magnetic attachments. After every cook I think I verbally say to my wife I ’ m glad I chose Camp Chef again!

I like the fact that when you turn it on low, the temperature stays low as opposed to other brands that just keep getting hotter the longer it goes. Very even heating all across the surface. Assembly was pretty straightforward and I had no problems.

This pot is a nice addition to a non ltralight backpacking trip. It allows for cooking meals like mac and cheese( rather than just boiling water in the normal windburner pot). The heat is concentrated in the center of the pot, which is intuitive given the design, but it does n't cook as well as a pocket rocket, but uses much less fuel... just stir a little more often and it works just fine! Definitely glad to add this to my gear room.

This stove is pretty easy to use and has a straight forward design. It ’s functioned well in both hot and cold weather for me multiple times. I don ’ t know if it is any more effective than a pocket rocket for most people. But if you are boiling larger pots of water for a whole group the extra support of the legs really help keep things stable. All in all I would recommend this stove it might not be the lightest but works like a charm!

Recently did a trip with some buddies in the White Mountains. We summited North and South Twin, Zealand, and Hale. It was late December so temperatures were around 20F. After letting the stove heat up for about a minute, I flipped the canister upside down to put it in four season mode. I do n't remember how long it took to boil my water but our elevation was about 4600' and it did n't feel very long. The stove was even so compact that I fit it into my 1L pot, along with a small rag and my zippo. I 've only used it in the field a handful of times but the thing seems bombproof. I even spilled a bunch of water on it and after lighting it again, it only took a few seconds to clear the water and work normally again. Definitely recommend!

[ Bought this for a boundary waters trip and for backpacking with multiple people. Wanted something bigger than my pocket rocket. The low stance and hose really help with stability. My 1L msr pot fits well on it. Probably could fit a 250 g canister and this burner in the pot( have not tried). Nice feature of being able to flip the canister with the built in tripod. Only feature I miss is an ignition.
