Use them as hiking and backpacking shoes, 3- 4 days of light use to break them in, than a 3 day backpacking trip with substantial load, few days later a SAR trip, and a day hike. Great shoes. No hot spots, great room for my wide feet and toes and nice support. I usually wear boots with my heavy pack so was pleasantly surprised. Seem little tight first through the middle of my feet first, especially around the top, but went away after couple days of light wear. Only issue is the loop on the back. Could be slightly bigger to allow a finger to go through, would allow shoes to be put on a lot easier.

I use them mainly for work but am on concrete and dirt both a lot. I have a couple of pairs of the Timp 4 and love them. I have custom orthotics that fit well. Part of the reason for this Altra model. I have almost blow out 1 pair of Timp 4s but will wear them until they are dead! Great shoes!!! Great cushion!!!

I have been running for 56 years. I have seen the development of all shoes from all brands. For me, the Timp 5 is one of the best shoes I have ever used. It just feels like running. It feels like hitting the trails. I know other runners have had issues with the Timp series, but for me, this is just an excellent shoe.

I am trying to progress down to minimalist shoes so the escalante 4 are a good step in that transition. I was n't thrilled with any of the women's models/colors in wide width, so I decided to purchase the Men's Escalante 4( mens regular is equivalent to womens wide width) instead. I wear a 10- 10. 5 wide in womens and went with the mens size 9 in black/white- perfect fit. Of course I wish the color was a bit more feminine, but at least there was a neutral option! I 'm new to the wide toe box, zero drop but I 'm absolutely in love with this shoe& hope I never have to go back to traditional tennis shoes. Zero- drop requires some adjustment time- my calves have been BURNING on walks, so I 've had to slow it down. FYI I tried Flux footwear first, but they are ridiculously narrow, so I had to return( also beware their return policy). I wear my new altras for walking and strength training primarily, and I plan to wear them when I visit London for 10 days in October. So happy with my purchase overall. One critique is I 'd like to see more wide- width options for women.

The Nike Revolution 7 absolutely lives up to its name- it ’s a true revolution in comfort and performance! My 11 years old son has been running in these for a few weeks now, and they ’ ve exceeded all his expectations. I do purchase an insole from a local shoe store for my plantar fasciitis which I have to use in all my lace up shoes. I have not found another shoe that fils my foot as well as this one for work and would recommend it to anyone who does similar work. I run around a lot with my job and turn many blind corners. So the lace up style of the shoe is better than kitchen rubber clogs. Also I work in a super humid environment on cement floors. So the waterproofing exterior and no slip sole is essential.
