I bought this on a whim last time I was in store. I 'm not especially a fan of pull through sharpeners, but was looking for something convenient to carry back country camping. I tried it out and was very pleasantly surprised at how good of an edge I could put on my EDC folder. From there I went through and edged up all the dull blades in my various kits, 5 of them all together, and it made quick work of everything. I did n't take anything to `` scary sharp '' levels but that's personal preference, I 'm pretty sure you could get there too with this little guy.

The diamond plates cut through a damaged edge so quick you want to take your most damaged knife and make it a razor. The ceramic rod and leather strap make for a edge that will shave. You can change a edge profile so easy with this small compact setup like no other sharpener I 've ever used. Worth every penny if you ask me.

I have been looking at an electric knife sharpener for two years and Smith's Handheld Electric and Manual Knife Sharpener, was a pleasant surprise. It does a good job on mostly deer hunting knifes( from old carbon steel to new stainless steel). It was especially useful for sharpening some knifes that had been relegated to the tackle box etc. becuase they were too difficult to keep sharp. After a YouTube video and reading instructions I was on to sharpening two of my pocket knives with ease. Will need to practice more for sure, but I was able to get a super sharp edge at least at some parts of the knife. Depending on the surface it may not stay still and move depending on the amount of pressure you use, but this is likely an easy fix.

However with a few minutes I was already getting really good results with this. Now it's early so I 'm still in the break- in phase. But so far I really like it. If you take your time and follow the direction you 'll be cutting meat, or your fingers in no time!

I like the tool it does do what it advertises, I would like to see a better selection of belts it goes from fine to extra supuer fine or extra course. I think that it hard to tell if there is much of a difference when going from 220 grit to 6000 ther needs to be some inbetween grits.
