Snaps take some effort to close, but makes for a secure closure. My only complaint is that the forearms are a little tight for my climber forearms, but this is a common problem for me. I purchased this jacket specifically to use as a top- layer wet weather shell. I ordered an XXL so it would fit over many warmer layers of clothing. It works perfectly! This jacket handled the pouring rain, snow, and heavy cold winds like a champ on the North Platte in Wyoming. It's tough enough to push through the willows and brush along the river without any problems. It has two very large front pockets that hold my streamer boxes and has two hand pockets as well. The drawstrings are great for sealing up the jacket. I have used my G3 guide jacket for years. The Freestone jacket does n't have the advanced features of the G3. However, the Freestone is fantastic as an over shell and will keep you dry and stops the wind. I use this jacket off the water as well. I wish there was a way to store the hood.
