This putter is basically automatic. I also own a Spider Tour X that cost me an arm and a leg more than this Ping Scottsdale Anser 2D and I have to say it is a dead heat as to which one I like better. In hindsight, I would have saved the money for something else and just gone with the Ping. The insert on this is magical, and feel is off the charts. Basically, feels like a softer milled face putter, and the balance and weight is superior to the many other putters I have tried. As always, the design and materlals used by Ping are top notch-- shaft made in Japan( likely by Nippon or Fujikura), head is made in Vietnam, and it's all assembled in the good ole US of A. Ping designs and materials are unmatched. You get more than what you pay for! Who needs a$ 400+ putter when you can snag this at under$ 250?!

I 'm 67 and have only changed putters twice in the last 25 years. I finally pulled the trigger on this and I am pleased with the purchase. As others have noted, it takes a while to get long lag putts down, but, from inside 10ft, this thing is deadly. I love the soft feel of the aluminium head and picking up the ball without bending down at my age is a plus. The grip was n't for me. Hated the bright white and that it's wider than it is deep. Also, it is a `` press grip '' meaning it compensates for the 2 degree forward lean of the shaft so the grip itself is vertical. This is fine if you do n't naturally forward press anyway, but I do, so it makes the effective loft of the putter even smaller. Changed it to my regular Winn Excel Vision grip and now it's perfect!

I spent hours and multiple trips testing out multiple putters to replace my current blade after deciding to return to a mallet. TM22 is in the bag for six months now, having come from a 8802 black blade for years I never thought I ’ d ever look down at anything but a pure blade putter.
