I use it for years with no complains. I usually attach it to my backpack ’s strap when I use two camera bodies in city trips or when I go for a forest hike and I need my teo hands. I ’ ve used it with various backapacks and camera bodies. From small Fujis to Leica SL, had no problem. Huge bodies could cause unballance. [ I got these for their lightweight qualities, mostly for use while trad climbing to save weight. They 're thin and light, and do n't take up much space on your rack. They 're great for clipping the occasional bolt or manky fixed gear, and for shaving ounces on those longer multipitch days. Also they 're nice for clipping to your cams if you want just a little extra length as opposed to clipping directly to a biner on the cam, or if you do n't want quite as much length as a longer runner would provide. I do n't much use these sport climbing, because I prefer a beefier draw for that application( my go- to are the Petzl Spirit draws). But when I do use these sport climbing, I am quite pleased. They clip very nicely. I have had this set for almost 5 years now and they have all held up well. For what it's worth, I like the simple yet attractive colors of these!

[ My favourite draws were the DMM Shadow 25cms. A buddy of mine managed to lose 3 of my Shadows and I was looking for a replacement. It's not easy to find DMM in the USA, and unable to find the shadow I opted to fork out the extra bucks for the Alphas. They are the premium version for sure. Nice clipping action, thoughtful design of the lower biner, and a good solid dogbone. I like the extra length for navigating longer tufa routes where rope drag can become... Well a drag. [ I 've been someone who's fairly efficient at rodeoing clips, but you ca n't do that unless it's perma- drawed or someone has already run up the route. This was a great investment even on it's very first trip. Being able to set a draw, put a rope on it, and even un- clip the draw from the wall makes it easier to convince people to push themselves on routes. Will definitely be taking this on all future trips!

[ We bought this because we were looking to step up our climbing game but wanted to do so in a safe manner. It's been great for that and has given us the opportunity to climb a grade above our current level. It's also great on climbs that are run out with the first bolt having the possibility to fall unprotected. The Squid is also super easy to use and to get the hang of( Pun intended). I watched a video on youtube before buying it and only had to watch it the one time to get the basics of how to use it. We have already recommended it to our friends and am now recommended it to you.

If you 're transitioning from top rope to to lead climbing, this is a useful tool. If you want to send a route that has a crux early on, this is a useful tool. If you decide you ca n't finish said route and need to retrieve a quick draw out of reach, this is a useful tool. Simply attach it to any extension rod and suddenly you have a go go gadget arm. Takes some technique, but you got this!

I used this for clipping my first and sometimes second bolt when they in sketchy positions. It makes the start of sports climbs exponentially safer. A single trip to the hospital will ruin your day, ruin your trip, and may ruin your season. I would have spent double or even triple the price for the added safety.

[ The only stick- clip I 've found that can also take the draws down. That's a big deal for me since sometimes me or my buddies want to try extra hard routes. We 've dealt with doing some sketchy things trying to get the bolts down and down climbing and it's not worth it. The downfalls I can find of the device is that the rotating arm could break off potentially and also the silicon used to grip the carabiner sometimes is n't too good at gripping. But a little fiddling is better than a nasty fall any day!

I love this knife! My favorite EDC. Super comfortable and an easy one handed operated folder. It's not fast to put away, but the draw is quick. Gerber just needs to make a version with better steel, like S30V would be fine. 8 years in the army and I went through 3 of these. I think the clip could be better too. But jimping is amazing and the lightweight frame is on point!

I am an avid climber and one time, back when I had LONG hair, I got my hair stuck in my belay device. After making my partner, on lead, down climb the last move so I could free my hair, I decided that it was time to carry a knife for the impromptu haircut. I got a few of these for my paddles. I am redoing my gear room, hanging kayaks on wall. I got these holders to not mount on kayaks, as who wants to put holes in boats? I got them to screw into the rafters to clip my sets of paddles to the ceiling. The end tips close a tad behind the paddle, keeping it secure and can hang upside down. Tho I am still in process of redoing room, I have not hung up paddles yet, but IT WILL without a doubt work. I use these as my main draws for sport climbing. I prefer wiregates, as I mainly climb slab or vertical. The Hotwires are light, durable, and have a confident clipping feel. The keeper has just the right amount of stiffness( if you know, you know). Gate action is still smooth and snappy, even after a season of use. As a matter of personal preference, I like the Hotwire's in- hand `` grip '' feel better than almost any other quickdraw I 've used( incl. Djinns, Photons, etc.), save for the Petzl Spirit, which are significantly more expensive. When climbing with both, I found there were times I still preferred the Hotwire. As for durability, my set looks close to new, after over a year of climbing and traveling, and despite catching a share of lead falls. The adonization on several shows minor signs of wear where the rope runs, but that is expected. Overall, at this performance/price point, you 're hard pressed to beat this draw!

Overall super good draw. It ’s light enough that you could use it for Chad but I mostly used it for sport climbing. I bought these to add onto my rack and have some longer drawers and have loved them so far. I really like the size and they work super well. This is definitely geared for more of a intermediate climber. I would definitely buy these draws again. I think you should buy these too.

As with every bd product, there is a level of durability and quality you expect when you purchase. This draw is perfect for trad and feel comfortable taking a whipper on them. The light wire beaners are perfect side for me, I don ’ t have extra large hands but not small either. Makes clipping natural and perfect. I also have order of mini wires on the way. I have not yet held them or tried so will review comparison soon which I had a hard time finding for my own decision making. Hope it helps.
