I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

Hydration pack is well made and super lite. Great for day hikes over long distances and can hold quite a bit of water and accessories for a small pack. The only thing that could be considered a drawback is the closure for the water bladder can slip off when the bladder is completely full. But as long as you are careful putting it in the pack then it is fine.

Used this pack over 3 days and 30 miles summitting King's Peak in Utah. I purposely packed more luxury camp items for a total pack weight of 30 pounds. At that weight the pack was the most comfortable and least sweaty of any I 've ever used. I nearly purchased the pro 55, but some of the features of the standard 58 really make for a more comfortable journey. I can always do the top brain and shave 4- 5 ounces, if desired to get within 7- 8 ounces of the Pro and hit the trail with far more comfort in the shoulder straps, hip padding, andplaces to lay my trekking poles.

I try to use all of my backpacks as dual purpose. 1st is hiking and second is work/office backpack. This pack did amazing at both. I enjoyed the deep front valuables pocket for AirPods, chap stick, keys, knife etc. the main compartment has a number of different pockets that holds a number of things for hiking as well as running to the office. My biggest complement is the water bottle pockets I like to carry two hydro flasks one for water and the other for coffee. This is the first pack I have had that I can use both pockets at the same time. The front cinch pocket was great for my rain coat and other layers. Fantastic pack would highly recommend.

You can go to war with this thing. They say it ’s an ultra pack, but it is also the most comfortable pack I ’ ve ever used for MTB ’ ing. My old first- gen Distance 8 is finally wearing out after thousands of miles, hundreds of mountains, 100k PRs, snow and rain, gallons of sweat and pounds of salt, who knows what else. This iteration of the Distance 8 is like an old friend with a few useful refinements. So comfortable I grab it even for a basic 30 minute outing if I want to go hands- free with water or phone, but also absolutely reliable for the biggest adventures.

This is an upgrade over my previous vest from a different retailer. Big roomy pockets on the front for flasks with elastic loops that go over the lid to prevent it from sinking down in the sleeve over time. I love the zippered pocket on the left for my phone and the mesh pockets on either side for snacks. The bag has an easy top cinch at the top and is super roomy for the other essentials and then some. There is probably enough space in the pack itself for an emergency overnight. The fit is luxuriously comfortable, feels secure with very little bouncing and jostling. The only aspect of the pack I have n't used is the pole sleeves on either side of the pack or the elastic loops for lashing poles to the outside. They seem like they would work very well with the distance z poles, but not my old school backpacking poles. Really though, this is a great buy, I am extremely satisfied with the fit, feel, and quality of the running pack.

[ I have n't used it yet, full disclosure, since it did n't rain much during our climbing trip. However, I did cover my new Osprey Zealot 45L climbing pack to make sure this cover fits. The cover packs up really nicely in it's own pouch; the pouch, in turn, is sewn onto the raincover, so you won 'd lose it, which is a nice touch. There was a little looseness, which is n't a big deal. In fact, I think I might be able to drape a 50- 70m climbing rope outside and still squeeze it in the cover, if I really was in a pinch, so that is a plus. Overall, solid and I hope I never have to use it( but certainly great to have, just in case!).

Have used them for a few rides and so far they ’ ve held up wonderfully. [ The Thule Garment Folder is amazing! I do n't know where it's been all my life because it has certainly been needed. I will readily admit that I am a very neat packer and I thoroughly enjoy folding clothes. I have been known to pack my clothes in tissue paper as not to get wrinkled apparel once I have reached my destination. The garment folder eliminates the need for tissue paper. My clothes are just as neat when arriving at my destination as they were when I packed them. It even comes with a folding guide to aid in folding fitted shirts, pants and skirts. Having the clothes in the folder, makes unpacking that much easier. I may also add that going through TSA is a bit more simple if using a carry on piece of luggage with the garment folder. Lastly, storage is quite simple as it can be stored on a hanger in the closet.
