I have had this bag since 2017 and I beat the crap out of it and it has held up beyond my expectations.. The only thing I wish is that I could wash it better, because I am so hard on my stuff. I would put one more strip of padding on the bottom of the area for the laptop and two way zippers for the front little pocket, One other suggestion is for the side pockets where you can put your drinks it would be cool if one of those was a little longer, and you could zip it up.... This bag is very well made, nothing has come apart, nothing has had to be replaced and all the zippers are intact at almost 8 years since purchase with daily use!

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

Made extremely well. Loved the hard bottom of this considering I mostly fish kayak and canoe, keeps things dry. Looked forever for what this thing will hold with no info on storage capacity. Pulled the trigger and was pleased with what I could fit. Main compartment holds 3 3700 size boxes, you could add a 3700 thin as well but its pretty tight. The front pouch will hold a 3600 box without much room to spare, I loaded mine with a 3600 thin terminal box and a thin 3500 box. Pouches on the side of bag will hold the small Flambeau spinner bait box. I used top pouch for plastics, holds like ten bags or so comfortably. Great bag and comfortable to carry fully loaded

Firstly, this bag has a small plastic internal frame to provide structure. The frame is lightweight, yet sturdy enough for a fully packed bag. Because of the frame's assistance with weight distribution, everything felt lighter on my back. This bag also has many different pockets and straps for varied packing strategies. The straps on the bottom of the bag are perfect for a sleeping bag, ground mat, or small tent. Underneath those straps is a small pocket that holds an included rain cover to keep your bag totally dry during heavy rain. There is also a pocket on top of the bag for any small items you may need to access on the go, without opening or unpacking the rest of the bag. Finally, there is a pocket for a hydration bladder, so you can stay hydrated as you move. Some other useful features are the emergency whistle on the chest strap, the included strap management bungees( so those leftover strap ends after adjustment are n't hanging everywhere), and the water bottle pockets on the sides. Overall, I would give this product a 5/5. Met or exceeded all of my expectations. I would highly recommend this bag to anybody who is a frequent camper or hiker.

[ I am pretty impressed with this pack. I have a few very high end hunting packs and they always seem to cut off some hip circulation. With a 3 night off trial campsite this pack was fantastic! I was skeptical but this pack performed very well. I really liked the U- zip access, huge hip pockets, and the side pockets that I can grab a waterbottle from while wearing the pack. A couple of things I did n't like: those huge hip pockets left no room for a bear spray holster, there is no way for the lid to double as a separate pack for little jaunts from camp, and the hip belt was maxed tight on my 34 '' waist in the Med/LG frame choice. Amazing Quality Bag. Looks sturdiness. I use daily for work. I pack a lot os stuff inside and it ’s heavy but suck a good versatile and handy bag. I have received many compliments about the bag and the look and workmanship. Love the size of this backpack. It sits flush to my back and doesn ’ t bounce around a ton while walking. All of the inside pockets are conveniently placed and easy to access except the ones in the front. I do wish they were slightly less flush with the zipper to provide easier side access.

Used this pack over 3 days and 30 miles summitting King's Peak in Utah. I purposely packed more luxury camp items for a total pack weight of 30 pounds. At that weight the pack was the most comfortable and least sweaty of any I 've ever used. I nearly purchased the pro 55, but some of the features of the standard 58 really make for a more comfortable journey. I can always do the top brain and shave 4- 5 ounces, if desired to get within 7- 8 ounces of the Pro and hit the trail with far more comfort in the shoulder straps, hip padding, andplaces to lay my trekking poles.
