I bought this roof bag the night we were going out of town. We drove 18 hours and experienced heavy rain. The bag stayed in place with the straps provided even though the straps feel a little stiff, they were still strong and flexible. Everything was dry upon arrival. On our drive back everything inside was damp from heavy rain but I think the flap that covers the zipper was flipped up. It should be ok as long as you don ’ t overstuff the bag and you ’ re careful about covering the zipper all the way around, you ’ ll be fine. If you have an option to get 20+cu, get the larger one. Everyone said these were huge and while our stuff fit, I could ’ ve used a roomier bag to eliminate extra inside cargo. This is for a one week trip for two adults and four children.

I have one of these. It is massive. It is solid as well. I think I 've accidentally bumped the top of against a ceiling at least 4 or 5 times and not a scratch on it, no dents or cracks either. I have been able to fit an absolute ton of stuff in it. Aerodynamic? Sort of. It will reduce your MPGs by at least 4- 5mpg on the highway. But you are getting a super huge place to store items. Rugged, built well. If you do n't abuse it, it will last.

The trickiest part for me was positioning the box just right—I prefer to have it centered on the roof, as we often access gear from both sides depending on the situation. The XL size is a great fit for an SUV. Due to the design of our crossbars, we did need to shift the box back a bit further than we initially wanted, which prevents the trunk from opening fully. However, this is entirely our choice, and I do n't fault Thule for this minor issue. We took the roof box on a skiing trip right away, and it held our 4 skis and poles with ease! It ’s been a game- changer for freeing up space inside the car. While the box does make a bit of noise once we hit 70mph, it's nothing that bothers us. These are probably the best universal type roof racks you will be able to find. I shopped extensively for racks that would be able to stand up to transporting a heavy kayak over thousands of miles. Other brand name racks like Thule or Yakima would have cost 4 to 5 times the cost of these racks. These were the only ones that seemed to be able to perform just as well as the higher priced options. We used these on a 2016 Honda CRV( does not have a rain gutter or lip to catch other types of attachment systems) to transport the kayak from NY to Florida through a major southern blizzard with these racks on the car. The racks and kayak did not budge an inch. The ratchets seemed to work fine. I cinched them up as tightly as possible and then tied a half hitch as insurance. We kept the kayak on the rack with some budget ratchet tie downs from Harbor Freight. The fact that the tie downs for the rack do go through the interior of the car may put some people off but this also make the racks very secure. I also want to add that these did not mar the finish or cause any scratches or dents to the vehicle. I highly recommend these if you are having difficulty trying to find racks that work with your vehicle.

I just installed the platform a week ago. The instructions could use a bit more on the particulars. I actually ended up watching a video from The Rack Shop where they put it on an OBW. That brief video showing it installed was a big help when it came to laying it all out. I paid close attention to how they had it centered on the car, that turned out good for me. This video also showed me which bar was the front and which was the back. A small label would be nice. Despite so many warnings, from myself and other reviews, I still put it together and then had to remove parts in order to put in parts that I forgot, like the 5 t- nuts that the 5 bars screw to. I had to install it on the car myself. I found I could just put the two bars on, front and back, then move them together enough to make it easy to comfortably lift and carry. with a couple of large bath towels on top of the car I could set it up there without scratching anything. I installed directly to the 4 feet( Evo Raised Rail) which hooked to the rails that came on the car. Once those were in place and tight, then I installed the 5 bars across the center, all evenly spaced. Took a few hours and a few portable tables at slightly different heights( cause that's what I had to work with) but I finally got it. There were a few hiccups but it's all good and tight now. It looks good up there, wind noise is noticeable but negligible. I was told by Thule sales to expect new adaptors in 2024 that will allow their cargo boxes to hook directly to the Caprocks. So that will be nice if I decide to go that route too. One piece of advice, if you can, buy a set of the Torx wrenches. 1/4 '' socket type would be the nicest. The ones they send with it are small and difficult to use.

Instructions were a bit hard to follow but not so bad once you got going. I made a `` mistake '' and ordered a small. Apparently Thule in North America recommends a medium for the Forester Wildnerness while in Europe they recommend the Small. That being said, I 'm quite happy I ordered the small as I think the square medium would have a lot of over hang on either side. I did have to move the feet to the outermost bars in order to have the minimum 700mm separation( unlike the pictures in the instructions) but after a little grumbling it was fine. Looks great. Really robust and I 'm looking forward to using it. Not much extra wind noise on the road. Maybe a tiny bit worse gas mileage. After a confusing start with picking the right size, I 'm quite pleased. Expensive but worth it.

My daughter wanted a kayak, but I did n't want to buy a roof rack for my SUV. I saw these inflatable devices on the shelf and did some research. The online reviews were mostly positive. A few people said they blew out the air bladders with over loading and few others warned that sitting in the hot sun while under load might cause them to fail. Another review mentioned a modification after the bladder failed where the guy put PVC pipes wrapped in pool noodles into the space where the bladder would go. So, I figured that I could try these out and if I popped them, I 'll try the pool noodle trick and still be spending less than rails, bars, and installation on my car. My daughter's kayak sits nicely on this rack. I have also used them to move some long lumber and a piece of large, but lightweight furniture. The straps are very secure but I might buy some ratcheting straps for extra security on the freeway. If you have a car with no roof rack and you do n't want to install one just to carry some light watercraft or the occasional 12- 16' piece of lumber from the hardware store, this is the way to go.

I bought this a couple weeks back and I did n't time installing the platform. This platform is very versatile and solid once assembled. I 'll be honest, I was a little skeptical with how it would mount to the roof of my 2016 Toyota Highlander but after I installation was completed, I rocked it, pulled side ways, put some weight on it, etc and it is very very solid with no movement or play. Very sturdy. The only advise that I would mentioned is countercheck the footpack/fittings( sold separately) against Thule's recommended items when selecting the platform for your vehicle. I came across an issue with the recommended fittings only to find out that it is not compatible with the roof of Highlander, given that there are different trims- so, make sure you check. I had to locate the correct item locally and was lucky enough to find a set and returned the original item sent to me back to Thule for a refund. Overall, this is( and other Thule's product) a very very good product. I 'm an avid fan of Thule products for 16+ years and I have not use any other manufacturer since then. Only quam I have is their instruction manual. You need to have the mindset of a European dude. No different with IKEA assy instructions, if you know what I mean.

When you put a Caprock over the back you take off the cross bars. So now you have two crossbars with no known future to store or throw away( bleh). I would also note that another three inches in height would make the product much more versatile, as others have noted. All- in- all though a great product!

Just received this rack in great condition. Only negative comment I would like to make is that the instructions were horrible. No verbiage at all, just pictures. All the parts on the product sheet were labeled A- Z but no piece itself was labeled. Besides that and it taking some time to set up it fits well with my Thule Tepui Roof Rack

[ As a fit kit, each model is design for a specific vehicle or set of vehicles. I purchased the Kit 1340 to fit my new 09 Legacy. The product does what it needs to and fits quite well.. a few unexpected gaps( since the rubber is formed specific to the roof) but nothing to worry about. I will warn anyone with the 1340 fit kit... It is designed for certain Subaru models and is highly specific because these models are vehicles that do not have framing around the windows( rather uncommon). Thule fit kits typically clamp right to the metal roof where the doors close. This kit, however, clamps to the plastic trim where the doors close( since there is no frame). Structurally a this is okay because plastic is reinforced to the vehicle frame, but I point this out because the clamping of the roof racks to the car will cause some indentation in this plastic trim where the metal plastic rests and is tightened. I noticed this only after a test fit, and have n't fully utilized the racks yet to know if it gets worse, but it's something to note if you really care about pristine appearance of this trim when you remove the racks. Otherwise, functions great and have confidence in knowing you are using a product specifically built for your car.

I bought the kit for the Outback but the Aeroblades I ordered are n't long enough to tie off a 4x8 sheet on the rack, so I exchanged them for the Probars. Aeroblades for the Outback are n't available long enough. The Probars are plenty long and you can cut them shorter if you want. I 'd been looking for a bar system that would fit the short roof rack length on the Outback, and this is good because you can get the mounts pretty far forward and back. Just remember that the rear pivoting bar on the 2020 Outback can be moved back, which gives you more room.

Just got the ProBar Evos last month as they came in the longest bar length at 200cm and I needed to fit a canoe and Thule cargo box on them. I am so stoked on them. Easy to instal as I swapped them out for the Thule wing bars. They do make a bit more noise at highway speeds than the wing bars, but the stability and length are amazing. Very happy with the purchase.

I had previously purchased the square bars for my Jetta because I thought, how big a deal could it be!? Turns out, a BIG deal. The square bars whistled a LOT. So a few years went buy and I could n't stand it so I bought these Evo bars and I finally feel relaxed when riding in the car with the box on top, even on the highway. Fun to install and so much more enjoyable. Wonderful bars and they look great too. HIGHLY recommend.

The Thule WingBar Evo is well made and of high- quality. Assembly will probably take you around 2 hours or less, depending on how familiar you are with roof rack assembly. I would recommend this product to friends and family. A few critiques for Thule:( 1) for the rubber stripping, I had to cut off a few millimeters in order for it to fit the bar. Just manufacture the rubber to the length of the bar- this felt like a very unnecessary step.( 2) a little more guidance could be provided in your instruction manual. Look into adding some text to describe the setup process.

Delivery was estimated for the end of the week however, the boxes were on my doorstep 48 hours later which made me super happy.
