We just returned from a trip that required the use of this bag. It was used on top of a Toyota RAV4 with a rack on the roof. The bag is quite durable, easy to put up and take down and best of all, I can attest to it being quite water resistant. The trickiest part for me was positioning the box just right—I prefer to have it centered on the roof, as we often access gear from both sides depending on the situation. The XL size is a great fit for an SUV. Due to the design of our crossbars, we did need to shift the box back a bit further than we initially wanted, which prevents the trunk from opening fully. However, this is entirely our choice, and I do n't fault Thule for this minor issue. We took the roof box on a skiing trip right away, and it held our 4 skis and poles with ease! I just installed the platform a week ago. The instructions could use a bit more on the particulars. I actually ended up watching a video from The Rack Shop where they put it on an OBW. That brief video showing it installed was a big help when it came to laying it all out. I paid close attention to how they had it centered on the car, that turned out good for me. This video also showed me which bar was the front and which was the back. A small label would be nice. Despite so many warnings, from myself and other reviews, I still put it together and then had to remove parts in order to put in parts that I forgot, like the 5 t- nuts that the 5 bars screw to. I had to install it on the car myself. I found I could just put the two bars on, front and back, then move them together enough to make it easy to comfortably lift and carry. with a couple of large bath towels on top of the car I could set it up there without scratching anything. I installed directly to the 4 feet( Evo Raised Rail) which hooked to the rails that came on the car. Once those were in place and tight, then I installed the 5 bars across the center, all evenly spaced. Took a few hours and a few portable tables at slightly different heights( cause that's what I had to work with) but I finally got it. There were a few hiccups but it's all good and tight now. It looks good up there, wind noise is noticeable but negligible. I was told by Thule sales to expect new adaptors in 2024 that will allow their cargo boxes to hook directly to the Caprocks. So that will be nice if I decide to go that route too. One piece of advice, if you can, buy a set of the Torx wrenches. 1/4 '' socket type would be the nicest. The ones they send with it are small and difficult to use.

Instructions were a bit hard to follow but not so bad once you got going. I made a `` mistake '' and ordered a small. Apparently Thule in North America recommends a medium for the Forester Wildnerness while in Europe they recommend the Small. That being said, I 'm quite happy I ordered the small as I think the square medium would have a lot of over hang on either side. I did have to move the feet to the outermost bars in order to have the minimum 700mm separation( unlike the pictures in the instructions) but after a little grumbling it was fine. Looks great. Really robust and I 'm looking forward to using it. Not much extra wind noise on the road. Maybe a tiny bit worse gas mileage. After a confusing start with picking the right size, I 'm quite pleased. Expensive but worth it.

I bought this to attach to my Nissan Juke( which has no roof rack of any type) so that I could transport my 10- foot, 50 pound kayak. It was very easy to setup. It took less than ten minutes. I transported my kayak on a seven- hour journey mainly on the highway going just under 70 mph and the kayak did n't move at all. When I got to my destination, it took less than five minutes to remove the inflatable roof rack. The rack did not seem to have deflated at all during the journey. I did add extra ratcheting straps to attach the front of the kayak to the front bumper and the back of the kayak to the back bumper for extra stability. I 'm very pleased that I was able to find this inexpensive solution for transporting my kayak. So much cheaper than purchasing a roof rack, and in some ways, the little bit of `` give '' in the inflatable rack might be an advantage over a hard metal rack.

I bought this a couple weeks back and I did n't time installing the platform. This platform is very versatile and solid once assembled. I 'll be honest, I was a little skeptical with how it would mount to the roof of my 2016 Toyota Highlander but after I installation was completed, I rocked it, pulled side ways, put some weight on it, etc and it is very very solid with no movement or play. Very sturdy. The only advise that I would mentioned is countercheck the footpack/fittings( sold separately) against Thule's recommended items when selecting the platform for your vehicle. I came across an issue with the recommended fittings only to find out that it is not compatible with the roof of Highlander, given that there are different trims- so, make sure you check. I had to locate the correct item locally and was lucky enough to find a set and returned the original item sent to me back to Thule for a refund. Overall, this is( and other Thule's product) a very very good product. I 'm an avid fan of Thule products for 16+ years and I have not use any other manufacturer since then. Only quam I have is their instruction manual. You need to have the mindset of a European dude. No different with IKEA assy instructions, if you know what I mean.

I have one of these. It is massive. It is solid as well. I think I 've accidentally bumped the top of against a ceiling at least 4 or 5 times and not a scratch on it, no dents or cracks either. I have been able to fit an absolute ton of stuff in it. Aerodynamic? Sort of. It will reduce your MPGs by at least 4- 5mpg on the highway. But you are getting a super huge place to store items. Rugged, built well. If you do n't abuse it, it will last.

Works great. Like most Thule products the instructions are at best vague. Plan on redoing it at least once. The biggest challenge is the integration with the Caprock. When you put a Caprock over the back you take off the cross bars. So now you have two crossbars with no known future to store or throw away( bleh). I would also note that another three inches in height would make the product much more versatile, as others have noted. All- in- all though a great product!

I bought the kit for the Outback but the Aeroblades I ordered are n't long enough to tie off a 4x8 sheet on the rack, so I exchanged them for the Probars. Aeroblades for the Outback are n't available long enough. The Probars are plenty long and you can cut them shorter if you want. I 'd been looking for a bar system that would fit the short roof rack length on the Outback, and this is good because you can get the mounts pretty far forward and back. Just remember that the rear pivoting bar on the 2020 Outback can be moved back, which gives you more room.

Just got the ProBar Evos last month as they came in the longest bar length at 200cm and I needed to fit a canoe and Thule cargo box on them. I am so stoked on them. Easy to instal as I swapped them out for the Thule wing bars. They do make a bit more noise at highway speeds than the wing bars, but the stability and length are amazing. Very happy with the purchase.
