I ’ m really happy with these hiking shoes. I hike often for bird photography, and that usually means walking on uneven hillsides covered with loose gravel and small rocks. The grip has been excellent — I haven ’ t felt slippery at all, even on those loose, rocky slopes. They ’ re also surprisingly lightweight and very comfortable for long walks. Another thing I really like is how well they keep small rocks and debris from getting inside the shoe, which makes a huge difference when hiking on gravel trails. The upper is easy to wipe clean after a hike, and the QuickLACE system works really well. It ’s fast to tighten, holds the shoe securely, and stays snug throughout the hike without loosening. Overall, these shoes are lightweight, comfortable, secure, and very practical for hiking. I ’ d definitely recommend them, especially for anyone who spends a lot of time on rocky or uneven trails.

I love how light weight and comfortable these boots feel out of the box. My first time wearing these I put 11 miles on these boots the day after I ran a 30k trail race with blistered sore feet and the comfort of these boots felt great and didn ’ t bother my damaged feet. Super comfortable, probably more comfortable than the prior generations of mid x- ultras I have. They would be 5 stars if laces had “ hook clasp ” at top of tongue like x- ultras. I could leave them tied at perfect length and simply slide laces into clasp and go where as with these you have a long skinny lace you have to tie/ untie every time& like 9 ” excess lace you then have to tuck out of the way.

The body of the show is noticably more padded around the ankle, and the toebox wider, giving them a street style look and making them very comfortable for everyday wear and touring. These Genesis 2 trail running shoes are excellent. Comfortable right out of the box with no awkward break- in time on the heel. I was n't sure I would like the quick lace system but I actually really do. I had to get the hang of them at first but now they feel more secure than standard lace- ups. They are true to size and the witch is perfect for my feet. I have a high arch and feel supported too. There is a good amount of bounce and they feel suctioned to my feet. They are stable and enjoyable to walk/run in.

I always go for the XA Pro 3D. I don ’ t normally go for the Goretex. As others have mentioned, this and other models are longer than in previous years. I ’ ve always gone with the same size& had to size down a half size for all shoes this year. The Goretex liner is built into the upper tongue area better than in previous years- no more sock to slip into- or it wouldn ’ t be an option for me. The toe cap& sole are key for features for me. Fortunately the sides( near the ankle) are lower- some of the previous Goretex models were too high. The lacing system doesn ’ t seem as durable as previous models& I hope it holds up. Thats my only concern. The stiff soles( that I want) make them a bit less comfortable than some of the lighter shoes but these are great for legit hiking.

They provide great protection against rocks and roots. The goretex is one of my favorite features, running through creeks and mud covered trails it kept my feet dry. I have about 250 miles on these shoes and they are still quite comfortable, I will be replacing the insoles soon as I have worn through the balls of the feet. They do feel odd on flat surfaces or transitioning to road, feels like running with cleats. Overall I love these for technical trails.

I have worn mine for 4 years to finally needing a new pair bc I wore down the tread-- top part is in perfect condition. They are a super snug, almost sock fit which I LOVE.
