I 'm very impressed with the entire process. Ordering from the website was simple, Thule made it easy to see what products do and do n't fit my vehicle. This is an excellent, well designed ski bag with plenty of capacity. The material is rugged and with good quality that should stand the test of time. It easily will accommodate two pairs of ski and if packed efficiently and extra gear. You might fit all your ski gear including boots if only bringing one pair of skis. I 've had a chance to take this out for three skis with an infant in the Chariot. Felt great to get out on the trails and have the little one sleeping behind me. Pros: The stability of the Chariot is great, and having them up off the ground helps to keep them warmer that a ground- based pulk. Installation is super simple and you can even wax the skis to maximize glide. Also nice to be able to store a few extra things for you or the child in the pulk's ample cargo spaces. Cons: There's no dampening system between the pulk and the skier, so any bumps/accelerations/decelerations experience by the pulk are translated to the skiers hips. This take a little bit of getting used to, but after a bit, is fine. Despite Thule trying to make the system as light- weight as possible, it's still heavy and will only get more- so as the child grows; this makes the uphills a slog( but downhills are awesome!).

The problem with almost all single ski bags: 1) carrying straps that are too short for over the shoulder. 2) straight zipper closure which makes it harder to get fat skis into the bag, much less easily see what's inside. This bag's straps are a perfect medium length for either side carry or over the shoulder. And the zipper is rectangular so the top opens wide to easily pack and see what's inside. Ca n't beat it for the price.

Fantastic! Works great in any snow that you can reasonably XC or skate ski on. Pulling feels pretty light even when loaded with a 30lb toddler, water, and spare ice skates. Skis are smooth and don ’ t stick. Relatively easy to manage downhills. When ice skating, I try to preserve the skis and use the standard wheels with the ski kit body strap. That works great! Comfort tip: Make sure the pin clasps that attach the poles to the waistband point up, otherwise they may dig into hips or unclasp. While the burley itself doesn ’ t fold down easily, I really love how fast and easy it is to rearrange attachments depending on activity and conditions. Super quick set up! Best addition for winter by far. Loads of fun!

The hard case provides the required level of protection to prevent skis from getting banged up while the airlines sling luggage on and off a plane. Soft cases are not well suited for the type of abuse the airlines subject luggage to. You will be very happy if you purchase this product!

Comfortable, functional and well thought- out pack. Gregory did a great job in designing this pack and it was definitely designed by folks who do BC ski touring. To begin, the pack is quite comfortable with loads. You can fit items in this pack much more easily than other ski touring packs I 've tried. While it's not the lightest, for the size and carry capacity, it is light! I did n't think I 'd use the Fast Track ski carry option, but on my second tour with it, I was using it bunches on the ascent. The FT is awkward if you 're descending, at least for me at 5' 9 ''. The shovel, probe compartment is very ample as well but beware that components can kind of slip out of this compartment when you take off your pack, set it down, etc. Very happy and impressed!

I used it for backcountry skiing the fit and how it proformed when skinning or skiing excellent. Its only top accessible, and a lack of easy acces pocket for avalanche equipment. Note I knew it was n't a dedicated ski pack wanted something larger then what was available. Was able to comfortably carry and ski with heavier loads. I enjoyed 50 days of skiing something like 35 of them were backcountry here in Alaska. Skiing adventures from Hatcher pass, with lots of local runs near Anchorage, and some trips to Turnagain pass.

[ I had a new Atmos 50L pack and started using it for winter hiking the NH 4K foot mts. It was too big for me as I had the wrong size and not great for winter hiking. The mutant works very well. I have hiked two mts with it so far, with full traction mounted to outside ~28lbs. Attaching snow shoes, crampons and micro spikes works well with all the external attachment straps. The shallow side pockets help hold my hiking poles when needed. The large top is easy to get into, a is the main compartment. I can easily put layers under the top to hold during a layer break. The pack is comfortable and handles very well with the 28lbs. I like the flat back, it is warmer than a mesh and doesn ’ t trap snow. My only complain is the shoulder straps are narrow and do not come down far, which limits what I can attach ti them. My snack bottle works but even in lowest loop is up high. And the loops are small. The front straps are a bit thin, but work fine for holding a crampon bag or even the snow shoes I was concerned that the lower padding on hips and waist would not be as comfortable as the atmos. But not so, I don ’ t even notice it, the the mutant is much easier to get into and out off.

I needed a mid- size bag for a full day of multi- pitch climbing, crag hopping, and lots of hiking in between. Priorities were lightweight, supportive, wearable while climbing, and water bladder compatibility. This bag fits the bill on all of those and is built to comfortably accommodate a harness while being to easily access gear. Where it missed the mark for me was that it's built for a male body. I tried as many adjustments as much as possible but as a 5' 4 '' '' female I could n't get the right fit. I hope osprey recognizes an untapped market and creates female versions of these technical bags some day, like they do for hiking bags!
