The knife is heavy compared to others I have at the same size but I like that substantial feeling and it is more difficult to flip compared to knives with a thumb stud but because of that the blade never gets hung up by the stud.

The Salute Mini is somewhat of a misnomer for this knife. It is a very well built, well balanced, mid- sized lockback. It has an excellent blade profile for piercing as well as slicing. Dual, bronze pivot washers are rare at this price point. Nothing was really skimped on with superb knife except maybe the bead blast finish as opposed to satin polish. I ca n't comment on the black version other than my personal preference for silver blades. You 'd be hard pressed to find better quality and value than the Salute `` Mini ''. It's a no B. S., awesome EDC.

i have had this knife for years and it has yet to break on me. durable and affordable. i have had to only sharpen it three times and i use it daily. serration is great for line cutting. perfect size and weight and it fits perfectly in my hand. no problem with screws and no problem with dullness. i like that it takes two hands to open but even then if you do it right you can open it with one hand with no swinging.

I got this knife about 2 months ago and it's great. Razor sharp out of the box and it's super durable. It's got this secure feeling when you hold it. The locking mechanism is great too. It's a frame lock and is really easy to open and close.

I originally bought this knife at the base PX for training thinking it would be a cheap disposable. This has by far been the best knife purchase I could 've made. This knife got me through field training, serves me daily in the office, and even provided crucial help during a car accident by breaking a window and cutting through a seatbelt. Sorry to hear other do n't like it, but I lost my first one and am on the site to order another. The thin blade is great for my applications, I do carry a pen knife for small/precise uses and another for self defence( also a SOG). I did n't like the lock that kept it from accidently opening so I removed it with pliars. I consider adjusting the screws normal maintenance so the guy that complained it was too stiff is on him in my opintion. After a couple years of use you WILL have to tighten the screws on MOST knives, but once I had mine adjusted to preferance I have n't had to change it in a long time. I also do not like the thumb tabs as they wear a spot on my jeans so I also removed those, I might think about just grinding them down a bit on my new knife.

I was really skeptical when I opened the package and saw how small this knife is. But it has proven to be really handy at work and abroad. The Buck reputation is well known and this little knife lives up to that reputation. This knife is perfect for just about anything that you might need to use a small blade for. Bought knife in 2010 the knife has great edge retention very durable perfect edc And a great camping knife I droped the knife onto concrete once and bent the tip of the blade but sharpened it good and it was good as new. it is now 2014 and I figure I have used the knife about 500+ times and only had to sharpen it about 5 times

Have had this knife for about 2 months now. It has become one of the best knifes I own for everyday use. I do n't understand why some reviews are having issues with the clip. Yeah, it's tight out of the box, but really, come guys you should know how to fix it. All you got ta do is pull it out a little bit with your fingers and you are good to go. Also, not sure what other reviews are talking about with the blade being hard to pull out. My knife, I just flick it with my wrist and `` bam '' it's out and ready for anything I put in front of it!!!

Love the Altair. My Lady lost my first one in the squid ink color so I bought a red one the next day. She has since found the first so now I have 2, and I 'm perfectly fine with that. The knife is weighty in the hand but ergonomically designed so as not to feel `` heavy ''. It feels present while clipped to your pocket, which I appreciate. I am not an expert or a snob by any means but after having several below$ 50 folder knives come and go, this knife feels like a substantial tool; not just a tape cutter or mail opener. [ Got this knife 8 or so years ago and have beat on it. It has held up to a lot of abuse. Super sharp when i got it. The edge held for a while but if you are actually using this knife, you will eventually have to sharpen it. It takes patience to get a nice edge back. Crazy hard steel. Great knife overall. It has done so much for me. Worth every penny.

The first one I bought in 1976 it lasted 33 years before the lock broke. I sent it back to Buck and they completely refurbished it to new condition at no cost to me. The second one I received as a Christmas gift. It has a drop point Burlap handle and cpm20cv steel. It is too pretty for every day use so I bought the latest one from Dick's. It shaves hair like the other two. Fit and finish are excellent!!!
