I can understand people saying this sock is really thick, but if you 're used to basketball- specific socks, do n't expect anything unusual. It's definitely thick compared to thin running or training socks. It's too early for me to comment on durability, but so far so good. Comfortable and cushioned, and they stay where you want them to. I realized by holding and extending their length I needed a Large rather than Medium as recommended by the chart for size 9 women. The socks are so comfortable in heat or cold and I love the softness and quality. I am only a track/mall walker so I use the unpadded for daily wear and love them. Many are great but I find the smart wool brand to have a softer hand, so they are comfortable to wear, and they take a beating and keep going. There are times I have to wade a creek or run out in snow in socks only and these socks insulate superbly. If wet I can wring them out and put them back in and keep going. Excellent!
