This little pack has been the perfect travel companion. I like to 'carry on' travel as often as possible- even a two week long trip to the UK and Ireland. As I can never truly get away from work my second bag has to be my computer bag holding a substantial amount of work related items. As such its hard to repurpose as a day pack. For me this leaves out the option of a day pack once on the ground. Enter the In and Out. It truly packs down small and takes up little room in my computer bag and once at my destination becomes an extremely effective day pack for touring about, shopping, hiking and going to the beach. It also worked great as an on- slope pack when on a ski trip last winter. This has been a 'go- to' standard for my traveling kit. Highly recommended.

I bought this pack a little over a month ago to be a low profile pack that I can every day carry to work either in my truck where it sits in my passenger seat or when I take the train into work. It ’s great, well made, handsome and fits my yeti coffee cup in the side pocket perfectly and very securely. If the only thing it did was carry my coffee, I ’ d be happy, but it has pockets for my ever expanding gear that I carry and the pack shapes nicely with the small dry bag that I keep inside it. The Mystery Ranch In and Out 19 doesn ’ t just carry your gear—it carries the burden of knowledge that we ’ re not alone. This 19- liter wonder was clearly designed by extraterrestrials, likely reverse- engineered from UFO wreckage they found near a New Mexico desert. I mean, how else can you explain its otherworldly design and functionality? Exhibit A: The material is lightweight but suspiciously durable. It ’s almost like they blended carbon nanotubes with alien alloys, then wrapped it in something soft to the touch but strong enough to fend off intergalactic threats( or at least some thorny brush on a hike). [ I ’ ve had this new backpack for a little over a month now and I ’ m really enjoying it. From a work standpoint, there ’s a cushioned area for my laptop, iPad& other work files in the main pocket. In the secondary pocket that is sealed with Velcro, I carry all of my laptop cords and other miscellaneous supplies. I ’ m surprised how well the Velcro seals and nothing falls out. The side zipper allows me quick access to whatever I need. On top there is a small zipper pocket for my pens, pencils, and a calculator. There is also a water bottle holder on each side. But what I like most about this bag is the blaze orange interior, which helps me to see items that get buried in the bottom of the bag that would normally be difficult to see if it was lined in black. This is ingenious as I ’ ve never had a backpack with this coloration on the interior. I thought it would be annoying, but it is very helpful. I ’ m new to mystery ranch, but I am now hooked on their products! I have a new hunting backpack that I recently purchased, and it is outstanding! When fully packed with all my work stuff, it weighs approximately 12 pounds and with the adjustable shoulder& chest straps fits& carries well. FIT and FEEL: Backpack is bigger than it looks, and still fits comfortably when wearing for extended periods of time. The straps have solid padding and the Haul Loop is extra luxurious. No trouble adjusting the straps to my desired length. DESIGN: Sleek, understated elegance. The only branding on it is a basic Nike Swoosh on the front outer pocket, and even then it's the same color as the rest of the backpack to continue with the more sophisticated look. FABRIC: The nylon material used on the exterior of the backpack feels like its built to last and the interior polyester is also well constructed. There are so many things I love about this backpack. The Trolley/Luggage sleeve on the backside is such a nice feature to be included as this backpack definitely has the size to be used for extended trips. I also like how the interior laptop sleeve has a button clasp at the top to prevent a laptop from potentially sliding out or moving around if the backpack was upended for any reason. The drawstring allows for a wider opening into the main compartment but there's also a side zipper for quick access( refer to my photo). There's also an interior bottle sleeve that could potentially be used to hold sunblock or anything else you may want to keep hidden away.

No nonsense mountain pack with everything you need to succeed. And I just want to comment on some of the other reviews that gave a lower rating for their complete ignorance about mountain packs. Yes, that's correct, it does not have openings on the sides or front of it to access the main compartment. Because it's a mountain pack, needs to be that way. It's a tube, and you put a waterproof liner in it anyway. There is no access other than the top. It's to keep all your essentials like your parka, sleeping back, food, etc., DRY!! Either you have n't ever really climbed a glacier and just want to look kool with a mountain pack, OK, that's fine, but how about learning something before offering up a review that is completely incorrect for a mountain pack.

I borrowed my friends pack for an overnighter in the Sierra, here ’s my thoughts. Modern buckles are really easy to operate with gloves on. Very comfortable suspension. Great for A frame ski( split board) carry. The crampon pocket was just large enough to carry ski and boot( soft boot strap on) crampons. On my skinny body I found the waist belt plenty small enough on the Med/Lg pack. The only thing I didn ’ t fancy was the snow tool pocket, as is the consensus on reviews of this pack. My shovel blade was a tight fit, no room for a three meter probe and no way fat skins would fit. I ’ m generously giving five stars, but will likely hold out on buying one because of the diminutive snow tool pocket.

Bought the AMG 55 in the hope of using for splitboard based winter hut trips and some winter camping. IT has the ability to carry both skis and or a solid snowboard. This bag is burly. Much more so than the more minimalist backpacks I have been employing in recent years that simply are not very functional in snow country. This bag is perfect for what I 've described. It's comfortable, the hip belt and shoulder straps are more cushioned than anything I 've put on my shoulders in a very long time and carrying weight very well.. But at 5 '' 8 '' 145 lbs I 'm basically just fitting in this pack in a size small. I would n't recommend it to persons much smaller than me with a 30 '' waist. My only other gripe is that the luxuriousness of the hip/shoulder padding makes this pack feel bulky when you remove the brain and cinch it down to utilize for a shorter tours with a minimal load. At that point your left with lots of straps flapping around. At least they are colorful;) All in all if you looking for durability, heavy load carrying ability, in a functional layout this pack will deliver for many years of abuse. It's built to last and should for the how much it cost.

I used it for backcountry skiing the fit and how it proformed when skinning or skiing excellent. Its only top accessible, and a lack of easy acces pocket for avalanche equipment. Note I knew it was n't a dedicated ski pack wanted something larger then what was available. Was able to comfortably carry and ski with heavier loads. I enjoyed 50 days of skiing something like 35 of them were backcountry here in Alaska. Skiing adventures from Hatcher pass, with lots of local runs near Anchorage, and some trips to Turnagain pass.

[ I had a new Atmos 50L pack and started using it for winter hiking the NH 4K foot mts. It was too big for me as I had the wrong size and not great for winter hiking. The mutant works very well. I have hiked two mts with it so far, with full traction mounted to outside ~28lbs. Attaching snow shoes, crampons and micro spikes works well with all the external attachment straps. The shallow side pockets help hold my hiking poles when needed. The large top is easy to get into, a is the main compartment. I can easily put layers under the top to hold during a layer break. The pack is comfortable and handles very well with the 28lbs. I like the flat back, it is warmer than a mesh and doesn ’ t trap snow. My only complain is the shoulder straps are narrow and do not come down far, which limits what I can attach ti them. My snack bottle works but even in lowest loop is up high. And the loops are small. The front straps are a bit thin, but work fine for holding a crampon bag or even the snow shoes I was concerned that the lower padding on hips and waist would not be as comfortable as the atmos. But not so, I don ’ t even notice it, the the mutant is much easier to get into and out off.

The only aspect of the pack I have n't used is the pole sleeves on either side of the pack or the elastic loops for lashing poles to the outside. They seem like they would work very well with the distance z poles, but not my old school backpacking poles. Really though, this is a great buy, I am extremely satisfied with the fit, feel, and quality of the running pack.

My husband loves this new backpack I got him for Christmas. It's very nice looking, has a lot of pockets, and holds a lot. We got the smaller size( 26L) as this will be used for simple travel as opposed to hiking.

I love this bag- I bought it to use for grad school and love the size, the water bottle holders and the front vertical zip pocket... I thought things might fall out of it when unzipping but that it's the case and its really easy to get into the pocket.

A very multifunctional backpack. Very light. My height is 184 cm, I need to get used to putting it on and taking it off, I would take a little more volume for myself. Not considering my size preferences, this is a great backpack.

I thought it would be a great summit backpack for snow mountain adventures, extremely lightweight, and suitable for carrying an ice axe. It would be even better if it included a waist strap. You can go to war with this thing. They say it ’s an ultra pack, but it is also the most comfortable pack I ’ ve ever used for MTB ’ ing. As far as how much stuff it stores, it hits way above its weight! You can pack this thing to the gills. It ’s also surprisingly water tight! I ’ ve carried this in downpours only to find my stuff perfectly dry. For light packs w/o frames, I will never buy a different pack for the rest of my life. I now own a distance 8 and 12 because they are so great.

6/22: had the Sirrus 24 for years. liked it. Compression- fratured lumbar region early spring. Feared hiking days over. stubborn but realistic: Had to carry pack light and high. Wore same clothes daily, hat, pricey poles. Tied jacket around waist, saved pack space for tent, food, water, rain gear, navigation, first aid, sleeping bag n cooking gear. There was other stuff inside bag, but I forget. Was able to carry light even with food. This pack solved my weight fears: helped me keep all under weight, not stressing back. Wore a lot; usually kept inside pack. Used water bladder. Was able to muster the entire CT in 2022. Cons: not able to reach back and grasp water bottles, pockets on belt too small and plastic zippers ceased in cold. Otherwise; really liked.
