One of the top lures of all time, been fishing with them since 1975. One of my all time favorites and go to lures as well as start with lures. Prefer the hammered chrome in 5/8, 3/4, 1oz. The hammered chrome seems to have a slight edge over the plain chrome in my estimation. You may have to get the 1 oz on Ebay vintage listing as I do n't think you will fine it listed. Great cast, trolled or deep water jigged. Will take most fish but I use for lake trout, walleye, N. Pike.

A striper spoon is a type of fishing lure designed specifically for targeting striped bass and other similar species. These lures mimic the movement of baitfish, creating an enticing action in the water that attracts predatory fish. They can be used in various fishing techniques, including casting, trolling, and jigging, making them versatile tools for anglers.
Striper spoons are typically made from metal, which provides durability and allows for a good weight-to-size ratio. The metal construction helps the spoon sink quickly and maintain its shape during retrieval. Some spoons may also feature reflective finishes or coatings to enhance visibility and mimic the appearance of natural prey.
When selecting a striper spoon, consider factors such as size, weight, and color. The size and weight of the spoon should match the depth and current of the water you are fishing in, while the color should mimic the local baitfish. Additionally, look for features like a weedless design if you plan to fish in areas with heavy vegetation.
Yes, there are several styles of striper spoons designed for different fishing conditions. Some spoons are designed for casting in shallow waters, while others are optimized for deep trolling. Additionally, certain designs may be better suited for specific weather conditions or water clarity, allowing anglers to adapt their approach based on the environment.
Retrieving a striper spoon effectively involves varying your speed and technique to mimic the erratic movement of baitfish. You can try a steady retrieve, intermittent pauses, or even a jerking motion to create an enticing action. Experimenting with different retrieval methods can help you determine what works best for the specific conditions and fish behavior on any given day.
Yes, striper spoons can be used in both freshwater and saltwater environments, making them versatile lures for anglers. However, it's essential to choose spoons that are specifically designed for the type of water you are fishing in, as saltwater spoons may have corrosion-resistant features. Understanding the local fish species and their habitats will help you select the most effective spoon for your fishing needs.
