I used this for a week long fishing trip and it exceeded expectations. It was durable and versatile in use from walleye, northern, bass and even lake trout fishing with a slab! It was strong yet sensitive enough where I could feel the difference between bottom and bite and even when my spinners were spinning. Handle was also a perfect fit and size. I have several of these rods both baitcasting and spinning. For the price they are a very good product. Do n't blame the rod for the inability to cast for distance or accuracy. It takes a good combination of rod, reel and line. I use them for Snakehead fishing and have never had a problem yanking them out of the junk.

In the past I had a few bad experiences with Daiwa fishing gear and as a result was skeptical of their products for years. Then a couple months ago I bought a couple Daiwa reels that impressed me for carp fishing and they were so sturdy and solid and casted so well that I use them for saltwater as well. While the reels were up to the challenge for surf fishing my Carp rods were not so I picked up 2 of these 11 Daiwa surf rods and am so glad I did. They feel so good and solid and cast beautifully. I have so much control over where my bait lands with these rods and have just enough sensitivity to see and feel even the small bites. I ’ ve owned this rod for about a year now and can whole heartedly sing it praises. I ’ m a AVID kayak pan fisherman. I ’ ve had this rod back in the skinny water catching bluegill, to white bass in rivers all the way to brackish gulf water catching flounder to test its metal. It passed all with flying colors. Section held together very well, eyelets are ceramic and kept the 10lb braid in good shape. Plenty of backbone for finessing bigger fish, just use a quality reel with good drag. My only suggestion for St Croix….. add an extra piece and make it 8 ’. This would be a perfect travel fresh water rod.

It ’s inexpensive, easy to use, light- weight, with a sensitive rod and a smooth reel. Your line makes all the difference casting- wise in regard to many aspects, so choose wisely. As an experienced angler, it performs just as well as several far more expensive ones( I almost bought two, and just might).
