I have been using these spoons for over 50 years and with good success. Now I 'm buying the small one's to try them on Crappie.

I 've been fishing fresh and salt water with the Johnson's Minnow spoon for over 60 years and find them perfect for fishing the grassy flats, weeds and pads for nearly all fish. I always hook on a plastic grub or pork rind strip as I believe that enhances the effectiveness. Some times I 'll cast onto a pad and wiggle it off, or let it settle on the bottom, then retrieve with a small jerk similar to fishing a plastic worm. It casts easily so 1/4 oz. is good for most spinning outfits, while 1/2 oz. works best with a casting rod. For me, silver has been the best all around, but I 'm trying out colors too, especially for salt water. If I had to fish just one spoon this would be it because of it's versatility.

Frequently Asked Questions For Weedless Spoons

Weedless spoons are fishing lures designed to minimize snagging on underwater vegetation and debris. They feature a unique shape and construction that allows them to glide through weeds and other obstacles, making them ideal for fishing in heavily vegetated areas. The design typically includes a curved body and a single hook that is positioned to reduce the chances of getting caught.

Weedless spoons are particularly effective for freshwater and saltwater fishing, especially in environments with dense vegetation or submerged structures. They are commonly used for targeting species like bass, pike, and other game fish that inhabit weedy areas. Anglers often use these lures when fishing in lakes, rivers, and coastal waters where weeds are prevalent.

Weedless spoons are typically made from durable metals such as brass or stainless steel, which provide strength and resistance to corrosion. Some models may also feature additional coatings or finishes to enhance their durability and visibility in the water. The hooks are often made from high-quality steel to ensure they can withstand the fight of larger fish.

Choosing the right size of weedless spoon depends on the type of fish you are targeting and the fishing conditions. Generally, larger spoons are more effective for bigger species and in deeper waters, while smaller spoons work well for panfish and in shallower areas. It's also important to consider the weight of the spoon, as heavier spoons can be cast further and sink faster.

Yes, there are various styles of weedless spoons available, each designed for specific fishing conditions and techniques. Some may have a more pronounced curve for a unique action in the water, while others might feature different hook placements or finishes to attract fish. Understanding the differences can help anglers select the best option for their fishing strategy.

The primary advantage of weedless spoons is their ability to navigate through thick vegetation without getting snagged, allowing for more effective fishing in challenging environments. They also tend to have a unique action that can attract fish even in murky waters. Additionally, their durability and versatility make them a popular choice for anglers looking to maximize their catch rates.
