[ My first trip with my new Tungsten 1 Person tent was to Big Bend Ranch State Park last November. Temps ranged from lower 80 ’s during the day to lower 40 ’s at night. The tent weighed almost half what my previous one did. I was really happy about that. It also sets up in only a couple of minutes even when using the rain fly. On warmer nights the Tungsten was perfect without the fly. Great views of a star filled sky that way as well. On the coolest nights I was super comfortable with the fly on to help retain some heat. I was pleasantly surprised to find the air circulation was good enough to almost prevent all condensation from building up inside the fly. I am 6 ’ 2 ” and there was plenty of room for me and my long sleeping bag plus all of the gear that makes me happy to have close at hand. Don ’ t misunderstand though; it is definitely a one person tent. After those 4 nights I would definitely recommend this tent. It has all of the quality you would expect from a premium brand like Marmot. Get one for yourself without fear of disappointment.

[ Two adults, two kids, two weeks in Yellowstone NP= success. We bought this tent for our trip knowing it was sized too tight to fit anything more than pads, bags and bodies. We coated it with permethrin which proved to help the bugs. It divvied rain well. IT CAME WITH A FOOTPRINT! The stakes were sturdy enough to be stomped into hard ground. The colors were attractive. The vents were nice. The door would be nicer if it folded down, not up. Easy assembly. Vestibules kept shoes dry. Plenty of pockets and overhead storage. Both adults are above average height and the dimension was slightly tight.

[ Took this on a two night backpacking trip in the Rockies and the extra space from the gear wings was the envy of everyone in our camp. Definitely got called the Vienna Sausage tent a lot, but if it's functional, who cares what color it is. Makes it easier to spot your camp. Got rained on plenty and this thing stayed dry-- that's probably the most important part. Set up was all color- coded so super easy. Clips in like other backpacking tents. My only gripe is the door. The fly only has a vertical zipper to access the door and the bubble of the D is on the other side. So you really have to reach around to open it and I felt like I was always battling the tent to get in( my partner did not hate this as much as I did). I 'm sure it's not the lightest tent on the market but weight was n't a huge concern on our trip and I really appreciated the extra space to keep our packs inside the tent. The ol Vienna Sausage tent will be continue to be our backpacking go- to. Its flaws can be overlooked for the convenience of extra space.

For the price, the Limelight is a solid performer. It's the style and size that the majority of outdoor folks will at some point. It also wo n't break the bank. While ultralight tents shine for the fast packers and the weight conscious, the price for weight savings is a non linear formula. In other words you 'll pay a lot more for a lot less when it comes to shaving ounces. I 've used the lImelight in all its configurations over the years. Mine has been to Mexico, the Andes, and all over the US. It's a good three season performer and works even in the odd snowstorm. It's light enough to travel well and carry( if load is shared between two people).

I used this tent on a 4 night canoe trip in the Boundary Waters and had an amazing experience! It rained the first 2 days of the trip and this tent kept everything really dry while still being well ventilated. I loved that it came with a footprint that is super lightweight, this kept the bottom of the tent mud free in the rain and it cleaned up great when it was dry- I even used this footprint as a picnic blanket for lunch breaks between campsites which was an added bonus! 2 people in the 3P tent was ideal to have some extra room to move around, and I love that is has 2 doors with kick outs/vestibules on the rainfly to store items outside the tent while still being covered! My favorite bonus feature on the tent is the guyline bag that has a light diffuser for headlamps, so you pop your light into the bag and hang it on one of the many loops on the top of the tent for a perfect diffused light! The `` stargazer '' mode with the rainfly off was also amazing for stargazing without getting eaten alive by bugs! This is the best backing tent I have used( and a great price!) and I cant wait to take it with me on future trips!

I took this tent on a three- night backpacking trip to Colorado and I highly recommend it. My buddy and I were very tired after reaching our campsite and we were able to get the tent set up in under 10 minutes. The tent includes several unique features to make this process as quick as possible, including color- coded corners on the tent and footprint, a cool idea that I had never seen before. The tent also has a few other neat and useful features worth mentioning including two doors, large vestibules, and numerous interior organizational spaces and tools, such as pockets along the walls and a clever integration method that allows you to hang the removable top of an Ampex pack inside for easy access. Once we got it up, it performed very well. Our campsite had a significant amount of flies and wasps, but the tent ’s fabric kept all the bugs out for our entire trip. It also rained one night and the rain fly kept us( as well as my boots and pack in the vestibule) entirely dry. Additionally, our campsite overlooked a valley and we experienced some wind gusts during the trip. The tent never felt unstable and handled the wind well. In fact, I carried the tent in and I was surprised by how strong the tent was when considering how light it weighed. Finally, the temperature of the tent stayed well moderated because the tent has several vents. I would guess the temperature got down to the 30s or 40s at night and I was never too cold or too warm. Overall, I highly recommend this tent. I ’ ve camped in numerous tents over the years and the Ampex 3- person is by far my favorite. I look forward to using it on my next trip.

This footprint worked perfectly with my tent on a recent 2- week backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains! It is lightweight for backpacking, yet sturdy and protective of the bottom of my tent.( I used rubber bands to connect each of its stake- out tabs to those on the bottom of my tent. This tarp is big, well made. It was a bit windy setting up in the mountains. I suggest staking the Footprint down untill you get the tent up. It is larger then the 11 person tent so you have to fold in the sides to stake the tent down. You can use the extra length at the front of the tent for taking your shoes off prior to entering the tent, or for a doormat placement.

This thing is awesome! I was debating between this and the heavier version by Sea to Summit, but I 'm glad I got this version as it is incredibly tiny when in it's sack and lightweight. Definitely worth the extra cost! It takes the place of a backpack cover, rain jacket, tarp, and( potentially) rain pants in your pack, while being smaller and lighter than any of those items by themselves! The stuff sack is small( which can be a positive when considering the amount of room you save in your pack) however I was, with some effort, able to get it back in effectively after removing it for use. I am excited to continue to put this thing to the test here in the PNW where rains are, at times, incessant. I do find myself wondering if further enhancement of design could enable better protection from rain for the arms, however I understand that this is a tarp/ poncho combo, so it would be a challenge that would likely drive up price a bit as well and would add material in random places when being used as a tarp. Pound for pound the best two person backpacking tent I have used. I have used many different brands. This tent replaces a five year old MSR Hubba Hubba. This tent has much taller and straighter side walls. I am 6 ’ 4 ” and I had plenty of leg room. My partner is a petite women and I do think it would be tight for two large men. I have only used it once am pleased with the purchase so far. I did get rid of all the stuff sacks and replaced the with the one from my Hubba Hubba. I kept the pole/light tube.

You can leave the cover off for breathability in warmer weather or to just be able to look up at the stars. And the cover is lightweight and waterproof for rain or that early morning dew. I got this tent for a winter kayaking trip through the Grand Canyon, and it just happened to be a year of atmospheric rivers. I had tons of days and nights of rain storms, wind storms, and even snow. This tent was just awesome. It's easy to set up and really feels high quality. It held up to all the elements and kept me dry and warm. Lots of space and lots of convenience features, like pockets, door flap ties, and stuff like that. I only had a condensation issue on one night out of 26, when the temperature change from early evening to morning was really crazy. I was a bit wary of spending so much money for a tent, but it was worth it.

Brought the Chogori 4p for two people on an 18- day human- powered ski expedition on the Southern Patagonian Icefield. Interior: We were hauling 100lb+ pulks, so the extra weight of the 4p( no longer available online) was well worth the weight for the space. We originally planned to have a third team member, but he could n't make it because of an injury. As it were, the 4p version was perfect for an expedition with two people where space= sanity. We had plenty of room for stretching out, prepping food, and drying gear during endless storm days. And thank god for all the pockets and a large vestibule that was perfect for cooking, melting snow into water, and putting on/ taking off boots. Exterior: The only way to describe the weather we encountered for the vast majority of our 18 days was, well... Patagonian. We received 100+ km/h winds daily and more than two meters of snowfall during the expedition, and the Chogori performed as admirably as could be possible in such conditions. `` Bend do n't break '' became our rallying call for the tent as any structure will sag and contort when subjected to such conditions, yet the Chogori held strong through it all. A few poles bent slightly from constant pressure( the infamous Patagonian W and NW wind+ windswept snow that accumulated> 50cms every night for days on end), but they never felt close to snapping.( For comparison, I saw a Samaya tent pole snap in half and tear the tent in far lighter conditions earlier this season.) We literally entrusted our lives to the durability of the Chogori, and I could n't be more stoked with its performance. If adverse alpine conditions are likely and space is necessary, this is the tent for you.
