I am so happy I got this coat for the torrential rains that are happening in California right now. I usually wear a medium... sized up to a large and I am glad I did. The sleeves are long enough to hide my cold hands and I 'm able to wear layers underneath for warmth. It still looks good. My L covers my butt( 5' 6 '', 34DD, short arms, 145 lbs.) Love the visor to shield my glasses. This will be comfy to wear in summer storms, too... the pit zips are handy, 2 outside large zippered pockets. The coat is not heavy but it is substantial.

I was scrambling last minute to find a coat for our November trip to Grand Canyon, Zion, and Moab with lows at night in the 12- 27' F range and but also keep my not too warm during hikes between 30- 50' F. This coat was great. I had strategic layers including the Tri Thermal Threads Tunic from Prana 2020 at night. I hate being cold, and was pleased at the performance of this jacket. I even regretted not wearing it one morning on one hike. Back home in Indiana, I 'll keep wearing this until it feels more wintery. It is lightweight, truly stretchy, and breaks the wind.

This is a simple, very lightweight windbreaker, that packs into its pocket. It 's somewhat water resistant, and dries quickly, but not waterproof. It 's in my backpack for every hike, and my carryon whenever I travel. It weighs almost nothing and when it 's in it 's pocket turned carry pouch, it 's about the size of a 3 x 5 card and about an 1 '' thick. It even fits in a purse, a fanny pack, and many hydration packs. I always have one on my boats, whether sailing or rowing/kayaking and have been glad to have it hold in my body heat on a chilly airplane, or as a paper thin layer for skiing, both downhill and crosscountry. i use the Helium Rain Jacket in addition to a 700 fill goosedown esp. when i ride out into wilderness. while it will not protect against sheer downpours, it will if you 're under a tree! plus, in conjunction with the puffer i stay super warm and dry while packing small and light. imperative on a horse!

I bought this specifically for big wall climbing and it was perfect for doing El Cap in a day( first trial run with the jacket!). It 's light and packable, taking up minimal space in my day pack and was super easy to take on and off throughout the day between belaying and climbing. Pretty warm with a sizable hood. Pockets are roomy enough for an iPhone. I do wish it had a draw cord and packed into the pocket with a reversible tab for a carabiner( you can still pack it in the pocket, you just have to awkwardly clip to the zipper). One downside to the lightweight fabric is it 's extremely fragile — I tore several small holes in the arms while mantling onto a granite boulder at the end of the day( the other down jackets I 've worn never had this problem, but they were much thicker). I also notice the feathers like to poke out of the fabric rather often, and have to frequently pull them back into the jacket. So: handle with care!

Measurements: 5' 6; 160lbs; M/8- 10 top with B cup; L/10- 12 bottoms Comparing the GW2 in Mojave Tan to UL in Golden Hour The UL:- lighter( duh)- runs big compared to the GW2- sheer, it looks splotchy/dirty- hood fits looser than the GW2- no draw cords- better elastic at the cuffs compared to GW2- SLIGHTLY brighter gold than Mojave Tan, beautiful color when the dark feathers are n't smudging it up* based on color alone, I would choose the UL. Mojave Tan has some pretty strong army brown vibes GW2- fits me better( even with fleece and base layers underneath)- sturdier, I am less afraid of brushing against a branch- draw cord around hips- Tighter fit hood( just around the face, the actual room within the hood seems the same)- Muted gold, pulls a little green Overall, I am going with the GW2. The fit is nicer, I am more worried about snags and holes than I am about saving a couple of ounces, and I miss the draw cord in the UL. It makes me sad though- that Golden Hour is so gorgeous! I would recommend this to only the ounce obsessed- it is a good jacket but not a HUGE upgrade form the GW2 to need the latest iteration.

The jacket is warm by itself but the added heat makes it my daily jacket now as I go skiing on subzero temperatures. It 's warm enough on# 2 setting and so far the batteries have lasted for the 4 hours I was outside with still some life in them. On# 3 you will get heat for just over 2 hours. I wish there was a bit of heat in the arms but the back and front are the most important parts of your body you want to keep warm. Overall I am very satisfied.
