I was initially looking for something that has the mini drawstring/tightener on the back of the hat, above the brim. I don ’ t like having something dangling while I swing. This hat has the typical drawstring that hangs under your chin, but has clips so you can remove it if you want. I also have a small head and this was the only thing that didn ’ t look enormous on me.

Husband has a similar hat, but it's black and grey with the flag made of fishes; he saw someone with the exact same colors but tree version and said he liked it. Hopped on Columbia's site to investigate. We chose this black and grey version with the color fade to `` change it up '' and add `` a little more color '' to his wardrobe( in his words... lol). That being said the peach/blue/green color fade in the flag is pretty. Overall nice hat!

My head is too large for `` one- size '' hats, but my extra- large head AND my ponytail can fit inside the extra- large size of this. I also love the extra- wide brim, which easily keeps my entire head and neck in the shade during the brightest hours of the day. Large hats can act like a sail in windy conditions, but the adjustable chin and crown straps are super helpful to comfortably keep this hat on. I love that it folds in half and fits neatly inside a tote bag or hiking backpack, since my previous wide- brimmed hat was ruined by my unofficial folding/stashing methods. A+++ work!

I use this hat whenever I have to go outside for more than 5 minutes. The brim is extra wide and extra long in how it wraps around your head. I have a degenerative eye disease and am also quite photophobic so this hat is a godsend. Not only does it shield my face completely from the sun all the way around from ear to ear, the sides of the brim are out of the normal field of vision so it does not distract from my ability to see peripherally. FABULOUS HAT. I 'm buying a second color today.

[ I was in the market for a serious summer sun hat instead of the cheap ones available at all of the big box stores. After much research I decided on Sunday Afternoons Ultra Adventure Hat. I received it and I 'm lovin' it! The first thing I noticed was the air I could feel circulating on the top of my bald head. Having vents on your hat are important, however, they usually allow burning sun rays to filter through. Usually I have to decide between being sunburned without a hat or hot with a hat. The Ultra Adventure hat has happily made that decision for me with its ultraviolet protection factor of 50+, including the mesh panels. No more polka dot sunburned head! Also, its so light weight you can forget you have it on. It is really the lightest hat I have owned. Its hard to believe it can do its job and be so light on your head. The downward sloping 3 ¼ ” brim shades my entire face and the cape keeps the sun off my neck, which is another great design feature. This hat gives protection to head, face, neck and ears without being obtrusive. Other features include a sunglass lock that holds your glasses in place. It works too. I have tried to shake my head to dislodge them and they stay put. Also, if taking a hat in a back pack is an issue for you, this hat folds in half at the brim and can be kept in your pocket. Without a doubt, this is the best hat on the market and worth every penny. I urge people to give this hat a try if you are shopping for the best hat out there. Since its guaranteed for life, it will probably be the last sun hat you need to buy!! You may want to buy more though as soon as everyone sees how cool it is!

This hat fits well and travels well. I can wear it with the chin strap or tuck that into the hat when I do n't need it. I have not yet worn it in the rain. I know it's not water proof( the one feature it does n't have)- I hope the water resistance is good enough for summer squalls. I wear it in my urban neighborhood as well as the lake. I like the wide brim for sun protection.

Bought this hat for sun protection while some facial scars are healing. I 'm not a hat wearer, but if you have to wear a hat, this is the one! Love that there is wire in the brim so I can shape the hat how I want to and it stays where I want it. I have washed this hat literally dozens of times which is why it does n't seem to have the SPF factor it once had. been getting sunburned on my head lately. I love wearing this hat. I am a letter carrier and have a walking route so I use it for head/face protection. I have washed it a few times and dried it in accordance with the instructions each time.
