[ Employee of columbia] Holy cow, this jacket is so cute! I didn ’ t necessarily love the photos online, but I went into the store to get something else and ended up trying this on. The fabric is amazing, it feels exceptionally well- made, and it ’s super cute on. I have a feeling this will be my go- to for the spring and summer.

Although the jacket runs large, Columbia's sizing tool did put me into the right size for my frame. ... [ Great waterproofing and wind proofing! ... Appears to be waterproof as it passed the initial 10 minute `` wear in the shower ''

[ The construction and material are really good- matte color as promised, does n't seem to wet out, and feels durable so far. Seam tape is a bit flashy- I would have probably preferred black, matte seam tape as well ideally. No DWR is a huge positive( both in terms of chemical use, and in terms of maintenance since no need to reapply). I 'd love to see the outer material in high performance footwear for the same benefits and performance. The only issue for me is that even the small fit is a bit baggy on its own- perhaps when layering in cold weather the fit will work better. While this jacket is n't marketed as packable, it packs well into a reasonable size for its construction.

[ Great waterproofing and wind proofing! It says regular fit but the lower half is slightly tapered which is great for lean builds. Ordered a size M and happy with the way it fits since it ’s meant to be layered. Used it for my fall euro trip and it kept me warm and dry.

[ I like to hike in the rain. For the past 25 years I 've lived on the Pacific Northwest coast and had plenty of opportunity to do so. I can say with certainty there is no other breathable rain jacket that will keep you as dry as one made with Columbia's Outdry. All other jackets suffer from the same problem. Eventually the outer fabric will wet out and water will wick in through the hood and cuffs leaving you wet and uncomfortable. Not so with Outdry. This stuff is amazing. I also like the impermeable look, taped outside seams and all. It makes a statement you are serious about the time you spend outdoors and it delivers. Although the jacket runs large, Columbia's sizing tool did put me into the right size for my frame.

Dry in PDX
[ Live in the PNW and have gone through a handful of rain jackets from cheap to expensive and new until worn out. This is my first with a solid barrier versus various coatings( probably toxix PFAS). Can not say this jacket doesn ’ t have them, but it seems much more robust and the slighly soft inside is a big improvement over the sticky plastic laters of past jackets. Time will tell. But so far excellent performance, good fit and seems like it will last a bit longer than average.

I bought this jacket for an upcoming bike ride because of it's nice yellow color and cropped style. I almost always wear an XS in Columbia jackets, however, I ended up exchanging the XS for a Small to gain a little extra length as it was just a little too cropped for me. Other than that, the jacket is perfect for what I was looking for. I liked that it did n't have a hood and also has zip pockets. Very stylist jacket.

[ This just arrived yesterday so I haven ’ t worn it in the rain yet but it ’s a great jacket. Looks good and well made. My only complaint is the bright red sticker on the wrist, it totally detracts from the clean look of the jacket but there is no way to remove it. I bought the XXL and it fits perfect with enough room to wear a sweatshirt underneath( normally wear a 2x or 16W).

Great jacket. Bought it to replace a similar Columbia OutDry that lost the hood tie. Love the style of this one except the ridiculous Columbia logo on the center of the back. There are logos on the chest and sleeve. Why put it in the center of the back? Looks ridiculous. Returned.

[ Employee of columbia] This is the second watertight I have purchased and I am always thoroughly impressed on how well it will keep me dry in the PNW rain. The fit of the coat is amazing and it's super breathable.

A great lightweight jacket to wear on an very cool morning or evening. Made from tightly woven nylon, it provides good ventilation to prevent sweating while providing protection from the rain. And, like all my gear that I wear in foul weather, I plan to spray it with additional waterproofing spray.

Get caught above the tree line with a raging snow storm today in the Rockies with this jacket as an outer layer. It kept the wind and water out in 50mph wind which allowed me to keep moving down the tree line to seek safety.

I 'm an avid hiker in Colorado. I never go on a hike without this jacket. It's lightweight and super easy to pack. It keeps me completely dry on the trail and works great as a windbreaker as well. Very easy to layer on colder days. I started with just black, and have purchased two more colors since my first one 5 years ago. I 'm 5' 11 '' and 195 lbs, and the medium works well for me.

I ’ ve had two of these now over the last 5- 6 years. I do a lot of saltwater fishing on the Northern California coast and this involves actively wading up to my waste in saltwater sometimes. This jacket combined with my waders keeps me dry very well. The first one I had the zipper failed on it after about 4 seasons of heavy use in saltwater so I can ’ t fault the product for that since just about anything will fail in saltwater. I bought a new one and am back out there staying dry and warm. These are really light too, I can see them as a budget backpacking rain shell option as well. I use mine for backpacking also but by ultralight backpacker standards this is not an ultralight jacket. That said it will keep you dry and it is a great wind breaker too. Can ’ t beat the value.
When selecting a waterproof running jacket, consider features such as breathability, weight, and packability. Look for jackets with ventilation systems to help regulate temperature and moisture. Additionally, adjustable hoods and cuffs can enhance comfort and fit during your runs.
Waterproof running jackets are typically made from synthetic materials such as nylon or polyester, often treated with waterproof coatings. Many jackets also incorporate breathable membranes to allow moisture to escape while keeping water out. Understanding these materials can help you choose a jacket that balances waterproofing and comfort.
While waterproof running jackets are designed to protect against rain and wind, their effectiveness can vary based on the intensity of the weather. For light rain, they provide excellent protection, but for heavy downpours, you may want to consider additional features like sealed seams and enhanced breathability. Always check the jacket's specifications for its intended use.
Choosing the right size for a waterproof running jacket involves considering both fit and layering. It's important to select a size that allows for comfortable movement while accommodating any base layers you might wear underneath. Refer to the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer and consider trying on different sizes to find the best fit.
Yes, waterproof running jackets are versatile and can be used for various outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, or walking. Their lightweight and packable nature makes them ideal for any situation where you might encounter rain. However, ensure that the jacket's features align with the specific demands of the activity you plan to engage in.
