I use these lures in various sizes to troll for striped bass in the Chesapeake and they work very well. I use them in different sizes depending on the depth of the water, but the swimming action and rattle make are great for enticing fish to bite. They also have a good erratic action when cast and twitched on a slack line, which causes reaction strikes.

I bought this specific color( pilchard) to mimic the greenies and they worked great. I was fishing for Spanish mackerel at Sebastian Inlet and casting next to people using Gotcha lures, silver spoons, and jigs and I was easily outfishing them. I was casting into the breeze and was still getting a decent distance thanks to the casting weights inside the X- Rap. I would recommend the X- Rap for anyone fishing for Spanish mackerel. In my experience, it also catches plenty of bluefish, but I would recommend changing the hooks out to 4X hooks. The hooks that come with the lure tends to bend too easily from the violent head shaking bluefish tend to do.

Bought the lure to augment an offshore trolling spread consisting of surface and near- surface lines. Fished the plug on 20- pound trolling outfit, with 12- foot 150- pound mono leader, run about 100 feet down the middle. The plug pulls hard when trolled at 7 to 8 knots, but digs down and swims well, even at that speed-- although anglers should be warned that at that speed, a 20 is about as light as you can go, as the lure will take line off the reel if anything less than 7 pounds of drag is used. Primary target for the lure was dolphin( mahi- mahi), which hit it well when not showing on the surface; the plug drew a strike from my largest mahi of the 2018 season.

I like Gulp because they are always in my box and I do n't waste an hour getting live bait. When fish are biting they are actually better than live shrimp because they stay on the hook longer and are not bitten off. You can also cast them further without them flying off like live shrimp often do. But honistly they are not quite as good as live shrimp when the bite is off, when the fishing is slow. But all in all I love these things and use them more often than live shrimp because they work most of the time and sometimes even better than live bait.

During a recent trip to Florida, I used Gulp Ghost Shrimp while fishing in both the Gulf of Mexico and the intercostal waterway. Gulp Ghost Shrimp on a jig head worked better than real shrimp and they are a lot easier to transport and store.

I bought this to do some pier fishing for fluke. I put it on a 3/8 oz big eye jighead and cast it. I waited about 10 secound for it to hit the bottom and slowly twitched and reeled it in. I took home 3 keeper fluke in 2 1/2 hours. I d say it works pretty good.

Gulp is my go- to bait anymore when fishing for flounder. Definitely bigger is better but I stick with 5 ” Gulp as I find it most effective in South Jersey
