I 've been fishing fresh and salt water with the Johnson's Minnow spoon for over 60 years and find them perfect for fishing the grassy flats, weeds and pads for nearly all fish. I always hook on a plastic grub or pork rind strip as I believe that enhances the effectiveness. Some times I 'll cast onto a pad and wiggle it off, or let it settle on the bottom, then retrieve with a small jerk similar to fishing a plastic worm. It casts easily so 1/4 oz. is good for most spinning outfits, while 1/2 oz. works best with a casting rod. For me, silver has been the best all around, but I 'm trying out colors too, especially for salt water. If I had to fish just one spoon this would be it because of it's versatility.

Been using these for seems like ever. From 6 lb small mouth in Lake Erie to trout and walleye in Colorado its pretty much what I only fish with if not fly fishing. Just wish Rebel had n't got rid of the 2 inch silver color years back. Silver, bright green and light brown/white were my go too's. Now I can only fish silver in smaller which does n't troll as well.

Winter fishing is tough around here with the frequent rain and fast moving high water on the Hiwassee River. I had some free time and wanted to try for some small mouth. The three hooks made it tough to get out in time. Luckily I was able to and the little fella was able to swim away, but I stopped using it after that. Started using fake worms and did n't catch anything else. It's very realistic looking. I 'm going to try to replace the three hooks with a single or just try to remove two of the three.

This is another one of my go- to lures. I find it to be very versatile, I use it as a wake bait or twitch and rise presentation; or just straight crank in. I regularly fish open water and smaller creeks. The Rebel Crickhopper Lure is my legendary favorite. I primarily fish for Bluegill and other panfish. Having ran Millwood Lake Guide Service for over 22 years in sw Arkansas, I can tell you dont hit the lake without a plano box full of these in various colors for varying water conditions. Because our lake can change color in a matter of hours with high wind and thunderstorms, I prefer the 3/4 oz Rat- L- Trap in 3- 4 basic patterns. Silverado, aka, Millwood Magic, Red Shad, Toledo Gold, and the newer Zombie patterns are hands down, best there is.
