I have been using these spoons for over 50 years and with good success. Now I 'm buying the small one's to try them on Crappie.
5
Piscator
I 've been fishing fresh and salt water with the Johnson's Minnow spoon for over 60 years and find them perfect for fishing the grassy flats, weeds and pads for nearly all fish. I always hook on a plastic grub or pork rind strip as I believe that enhances the effectiveness. Some times I 'll cast onto a pad and wiggle it off, or let it settle on the bottom, then retrieve with a small jerk similar to fishing a plastic worm. It casts easily so 1/4 oz. is good for most spinning outfits, while 1/2 oz. works best with a casting rod. For me, silver has been the best all around, but I 'm trying out colors too, especially for salt water. If I had to fish just one spoon this would be it because of it's versatility.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and I 've found the Mack's wedding Ring series of lures to be some of the most consistent lures for catching trout in both our streams spinning and in our mountain lakes while trolling. The Wedding Ring trolled with a Berkley Red Wiggler Gulp worm for a tail is a killer. This lure darts through the water and looks so real under the water, this drives the fish bonkers, and they go crazy! You can fish this lure slow, fast, dart it around, steady retrieve, it is a VERY VERSATILE LURE TO HAVE IN YOUR TACKLE BOX. I caught a little 22inch Northern Pike from darting one of the larger models through the weeds and that little guy hit it. I thought I snagged on some weeds again- from darting it through the weeds.. until something started tugging back, then I was like, `` Oh Snap, I got one! ''

If you dont catch fish on Joe's, theyre not biting!!! I took a 21 inch large mouth on a Joe's first cast after hitting the waters with the standard bass lures... In fact wife and I both started using them with great results.... These are our goto lures on new water bodies with unknown specimens. Nailed a 14. 5 inch black crappie on them the following week... Be warned, withthe two hook combo you might want to use some tools to retrieve your fly cause theyre sharp and wont let go!!

I keep a Short Striker on a 5ft. microspinner all the time so I can just grab it and go when I get some unexpected fishing time. They 're not even listed as one of the lure's targets, but I caught three small bullheads right in a row on nice, slow retrieves tonight.

I used every option in this kit. First thing in the morning I used the pop R, and fish would hit it as soon as it hit the water. Once the sun was out, we switched to the crickhopper and wee crawfish. Kept catching them all day. At one point we got to a bigger section of river, tied on the little crank bait, and even started catching small bass! Perfect for every occasion!
5
Russell
i really enjoyed the options in the kit. You have crankbaits as well as a topwater popper. a lot of the time you do n't have to even crank the crickhopper. Wiggle it a bit and they will hit it on top. Crawfish and grasshoppers always great snacks for panfish and bass.
5
Cwat320
Fishing small Arkansas ponds and rivers I 've caught more crappie and bream on the little grasshopper than is ever imagine. If that does n't work, out comes the crawfish. These two alone are well worth the$ 10 for this kit. I do n't use the other two as much, but in my eyes they were free anyway!
5
Greg
Its 2012 and i 've had no luck catching any fish all season so far. I was shopping in Dick's looking for new line and maybe a new lure. I spotted this one and thought it looked promising. My fishing buddy had also said this was his favorite lure. I bought the `` Grasshopper '' looking one and tossed it in the water. Within seconds i got a fish on the hook. It was a sunfish but i was supprised at how fast the lure was attacked. I took the fish off the line and released it and threw the line back in the water and started to reel in slow. BOOM a nice sized bass comes up to the surface and chomps down the lure. I reel him in and release. This kept happening all night. I caught 8 fish in 1hour 30mins. This is definately one of my favorite lures now. If you want fish to go nuts over your lure, for the price, you cant go wrong with this one.
5
ASC8307
I started using most of these back in the 90s when I started fishing. So when I recently saw the 4- pack I picked one up to replace old and lost lures, and recommended it to my brother, who finally got into fishing. These lures are still some of my standbys, especially for smaller waters, even though I have hundreds more, and my brother relies heavily on them. I have been using the grasshopper since the beginning. Throw it under overhanging trees and near tall grass or cattails to imitate a bug that landed in the water. `` Twitch and pause '' to get fish's attn, rather than cranking it straight in, especially if the surface is calm. Works great for bluegills and bass. I bought the crayfish to fish in streams for trout and smallmouth bass. Works well in clear water and over rocky bottoms. The Wee- R( the little fish), in this color can imitate a fish or a crayfish. I was surprised at how effective it was. I caught a lot of bass in shallow rocky or muddy areas. Personally, I 've had less success with the popper, but I know people who swear by these things. Try it around dawn and dusk, or on overcast days( low light gives it a tempting silhouette), and experiment with a sharp twitch followed by a long pause, a series of quick twitches, then a pause, and other cadences until you find on that works.

Millwood Lake Guide Service
Having ran Millwood Lake Guide Service for over 22 years in sw Arkansas, I can tell you dont hit the lake without a plano box full of these in various colors for varying water conditions. Because our lake can change color in a matter of hours with high wind and thunderstorms, I prefer the 3/4 oz Rat- L- Trap in 3- 4 basic patterns. Silverado, aka, Millwood Magic, Red Shad, Toledo Gold, and the newer Zombie patterns are hands down, best there is. I always have 3 rods rigged up with 3/4 or 1/2 oz sizes, and in muddy conditions go up to the 1 oz size for increased racket and chatter. Have lost count of the thousands of Florida Bass here we have caught and released on Traps from Spring through Fall and into the Winter months. Do n't leave the boat ramp without a few of these Bass Magnets!!

Rat- L- Trap is the best lipless crankbait on the market that money can buy! The Rat- L- Trap comes in several different models and sizes to catch a wide variety of species in both fresh and salt waters. With a huge assortment of color variations, it will accommodate any angler's need for any situation. As a tournament angler myself, this is my go to bait and is always tied on for every tournament I fish. Whether you are a tournament veteran or just enjoy catching more fish, every angler needs a Bill Lewis Rat- L- Trap in their tackle box.

Haven ’ t used this bait yet but by the looks I can tell it will be effective has some rattle to it like the weed less hook design all for a fair price
Classic fishing lures are traditional designs that have been used for decades, often characterized by their simple yet effective shapes and color patterns. Unlike modern lures, which may incorporate advanced materials and technology, classic lures rely on time-tested designs that mimic the appearance and movement of prey. This makes them particularly appealing to a wide range of fish species.
Classic fishing lures are versatile and can be effective for catching various species of fish, including bass, trout, pike, and panfish. Their design often targets specific feeding behaviors, making them suitable for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Anglers appreciate their ability to attract fish in different environments and conditions.
Classic fishing lures are typically made from a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and plastic. Wooden lures are known for their buoyancy and natural appearance, while metal lures often provide durability and a unique flash in the water. Plastic lures can offer a wide range of colors and designs, making them popular among anglers.
To achieve the best results with classic fishing lures, anglers should consider factors such as water temperature, time of day, and fish behavior. Varying the retrieval speed and technique can also enhance effectiveness, as some lures may perform better with a slow, steady retrieve, while others may benefit from erratic movements. Experimenting with different depths and locations can help identify the most productive fishing spots.
