As a young boy we could n't afford hockey skates so I always wore my sisters figure skates. Much later when I was now on my own I took back into ice skating but this time wearing men's hockey skates. I liked the leather uppers and stainless steel blades which were well sharpened out of the box. Stainless steel is harder than other steels and does not rust. The fit was great, but order a size smaller than your normal size. They are easy to skate on and well balanced, tho I am a beginner skater, I do love these skates. Good job Lake Placid.

I 'm a beginner skater and invested in some skates since I live near a rink now and can go skate at least three or four times a week. I tried out various skates( including the less expensive Lake Placid Cascade skates) before I settled on the Alpines. These skates were far superior to any of the others. They are sooooo comfortable- even after skating for a couple hours. The memory foam lining of the boot also feels like it's molding to my foot. Great ankle support and the leather boot was worth the extra money( the Cascade skates are plastic/pleather). I highly recommend these if you 're looking for a good, affordable pair of skates. A note about sizing: I wear a 9. 5 and the size 8 fit great.

These are actually the Alpine 900's. They are comfortably wide, plenty of toe room. I normally wear a women's size 9. I ordered a 9 for me and a 7 for my daughter. The 9's were about an inch too long. I decided to try my daughter's on and they fit well with room for comfort. I am an adventure supervisor at a therapeutic boarding school in Northwest Montana, and I use this jacket to lead hiking, biking, and climbing trips in cool temperatures. I also took this jacket camping with me in Glacier National Park when the temperatures got down into the teens, so I was able to compare its warmth to some of my other jackets. Although it loses some of its warmth without a hood, it kept me surprisingly warm in those low temps. Overall, however, I found that the biggest positive to this jacket is the durable material! The stretchdown feels more resistant to nicks and tearing, and I can see this jacket lasting a long time. It's also a plus for me that the down is RDS certified-- yay for animal welfare! I would not bring this as my only puffy jacket when backpacking because I would need the extra warmth that a hood brings. However, this layer would be really great for climbing in moderately cool temperatures because of how durable the material would be on the rock, or as a bonus layer to stuff in a pack for a little extra warmth. I gave this jacket four stars, mostly because of the fit. I am 5' 5 '', 120lbs, and I ordered a small because I normally like to layer underneath my puffy jackets. However, a small is too big on me even with layers underneath, and it also has a boxy fit around the shoulders. I would order an XS next time for sure!

Pretty quality. I am 5 ’ 10, 170, usually a large but I ordered a size up for extra steez. I like the length, it ’s a little boxy but roomy enough for a beacon, etc. The front middle pockets seem good for when I wear a backpack. I like the way the bottom pockets lie, stuff won ’ t fall out easily if they ’ re open. The hood also seems to be a good size for a helmet. My only concern is the zipper pulls are very thin and light so possibly not the most durable. Also don ’ t need the powder skirt as I am a bibs person so kind of wished it detached. [ I love this coat! It is insulated but without all of the puffy bulk you sometimes get with down coats. I am 5 ’ 5 ” 127lbs and ordered a small. The fit is perfect and gives me room for heavier sweatshirts or sweaters but doesn ’ t look huge when I wear something lighter underneath. I 'm really glad I bought this! I did size up( M to an L) after reading the reviews. The M would have fit but without much layering ability- with the L I can layer with a base and fleece layer no problems. Also look good with just a tee or long- shirt. 5' 8 '', around 150. Have n't tried it outside much but I think it 'll be great for camping and as a mid- layer on really cold days under a parka.

[ I wanted a hooded down jacket that would pack into one of its own pockets. I purchased this one as the description fit what I was looking for. I purchased the `` plum '' color which in the photos looked like a very light purple color. I am 5' 6 '' and 180 lbs and apple shaped. I ordered the XL. It is a bit long in the arms, but fits around my belly with a little extra room even when wearing a sweatshirt. The color was not as depicted in the photo, it was much more of what I would expect from `` plum. '' It is also not easy to pack. It took me quite a while to get the whole jacket shoved into the pocket. I included a photo of it packed on top of a sheet of printer paper for size reference. I do plan on keeping the jacket because I actually like the color and it's super warm.
